- A brief look in original colour film at Newquay in 1942 followed by some black and white footage from 1948. The 1942 footage was filmed by the Trigg family of Harrow who visited their son who was in the ITC of the RAF in Newquay. Towan Beach had been cleared in 1942 of its anti-invasion measures to allow locals and visitors access to the beach and sea. They are also seen crossing the Gannel Estuary. The black and white footage comes from a home movie shot in 1948 when visitors began to return to Cornwall.

That is superb footage! Do you mind me sharing this in a Newquay memories group on facebook?
By all means post the link to the video or embed as you see fit.
@@PhilsTeleTime thank you
I ordered you books awhile back. They are wonderful. My great-grandfather was of Cornish roots, his mother's family coming from Redruth Cornwall. He emigrated to Canada before 1890. Upon looking at this film, I am struck by the fact that NO ONE was fat!
Wartime rationing helped people to eat a healthier diet, along with the physical exercise, helped keep people in trim.
you would get arrested now days in them grey budgie smugglers he is having a kick about in lol
