The thing is is that she won't become anorexic, because she already is anorexic. She already can't handle foods and even vitamins because she isn't eating anything for long periods of time. The thing that pisses me off is that no one, even her sister, is outright saying that she is ANOREXIC. They just consider it to be a diet.
Korea is very misinformed about mental health in general. This extends to eating disorders as well. I think from their perspective if she looks "okay" or "healthy" (meaning not emaciated) then that means she doesn't have an eating disorder and is just dieting. It is really frustrating because this girl's behavior can't be pushed aside and termed a phase. Korea probably has very little information about eating disorders- including a very important point, which is that eating disorders occur in people regardless of their current weight/and or size.
dimsumsum I don't even know what they count as anorectic like last time I checked it's a mental disorder you can be fucking obese and have an eating disorder
Waytown Studios starving yourself isn't the only thing that comes with anorexia. it's a fucking mental disorder. don't diagnose people with your half assed knowledge on it.
jimin can park it on me Alright then, I'll hear you out. What do you think it is? We've been presented with information of her symptoms, which so far include: an inability to keep down vitamins (either in liquid or chewable form) and other solubles; and fainting spells. It was revealed that she's been experiencing these symptoms, as she's been starving herself for extreme lengths of time over the course of a year or more. Based on this, what do you think the most logical reasoning would be?
I'm worried about how many people in this show don't see this as a worry, but i was glad that that girl from Apink told her that what she is doing is only going to store more fat instead of helping, but she needs more help than this show is able or capable of giving
TheFighterfemme and no one was telling her how important it was to just eat and live sustainably and love whatever she looks like as she pursues that lifestyle. the reality is that people come in a million different body types, and it's okay to not have teeny legs. every woman is beautiful, and that girl is so beautiful. I don't know when the people are going to wake up and stop trying to confirm that she is, indeed, pretty, rather than accepting and appreciating her for what she is. they keep telling her that she can build the body she wants and it's so much deeper than that.
Joyita Darling Not concerning her specifically but there are body types which are ''healthy'' and ''not healthy'' we shouldnt just go around saying to everyone that they are beautiful and shouldnt lose weight.
Rotring but health isn't what she's referring to. She didn't say every body type is healthy, she said every body type is beautiful. If you need to tell someone to lose weight for health reasons, no person should ever feel offended by that and it is by no means wrong. Thats what you SHOULD do, worry abouttheir health and well-being. But the issue is, just because someone is heavier than what's deemed normal, doesn't make them unheslthy and certainly doesn't make them unattractive. Telling people, that are not struggling health-wise, they are fine the way they are is good. It's easy to see they aren't referring to serious health concerns and saying to ignore them for self-esteem purposes.
And still many people don't understand that starving yourself didn't make you lose your fat. Just eat something that don't have too much fat 3 times in one day and then workout. People who like workout eat a lot, more than anyone else. if you want your lower body muscles bigger (nice body shape) then just do the same thing not starving yourself. In this video she said she's squad without eating anything, it doesn't help you gain your lower body muscle. Just skip fat in your meals and workout. that will help you burn fat and get slim body like you want
well its sad but it is how korean diet works, i have a korea friend (who is not fat at all) she claimed that she is fat and only eat 3 bananas every day for 3 whole month :(
@オグンステファニア really?! that's awful, it seems so easy to be discriminated that way :( i think there's some good that they go on hello counselor though, because maybe it can help people who might not realize they have a problem yet.
Everyone always thinks that Koreans are naturally thin, which isn’t true, perhaps we lean to a certain frame more, but we aren’t naturally skinny. Our culture actually promotes insane eating disorders, pushing girls to eat less, be frail and offer so many body loss clinics. This isn’t our bodies this is just hurtful cultural ideas against women. This is just an example of how insidious it’s treated, and it really destroys us girls. I have an eating disorder partly because my family makes fun of my frame (I am half korean and my body frame is closer to my fathers so I have naturally wider hips and chest) even though I am consider average and a smaller frame than most body types. At the very least I hope that this video opens more conversations about this and one day accept different body types.
Weight is a math game regardless of what country you live. Eventually, it catches up to you. I was extremely skinny until I started working in an office. A few factors help people in Korea: the food is naturally low calories. When I visit Korea, usually I'm eating rice, banchan, and soup for 3 meals a day when we eat at the house. Also, most people in Korea don't drive to work. People walk a lot more.
I am half korean too. My other half is Chinese, my dad is from the Manchu ethnicity so he is very tall 1m80. I am 5'5, thats average for white ppl but very tall for Korea. My korean family and even my mom makes fun of me all the time. "You got so chubby", " don't let her (me) see this or it will disappear ", " she (me) will never get married", "you are so fat guys won't look st you even you are naked" "you are so fat, how come you dance ballet".... And many more comments. In Korea, no matter thin or thick, people will never leave you alone. They always have something to say about your body type. I have been starving myself since November 2018 and my mom is encouraging it and saying stuff like " I am so proud you can control your mouth, now everything look good on you". I am 89.4lbs for 5'5. I know it is ridiculous but l think l am obese. I used to be 145lbs in November. My goal weight is 80lbs. I used to have a goal weight of 10%lbs and when l got close to it, l lower it because l am insanely afraid to be still fat at my goal weight.
@@alice_in_wonderland9997 please don't do that! It's so sad that your parents didn't tell you things like you are beautiful but encouraged you to loose weight. 80 lbs is very unhealthy , please think about your health!! It all comes from the brain, if you constantly compare yourself and tell yourself that ur too fat, then u will start to believe it . Have confidence in the way you are and please do not starve. If you are going to loose weight do it in a healthy way and to get to a healthy weight. It may not effect you now but you will suffer the effects later and im talking from experience
@@alice_in_wonderland9997 I can tell that you live with really toxic people. This is Scandalous. 89lbs!? I hope you are okay know and that you gain some weight. I'm recovering from anorexia. Before my weight was 55kg. I'm 177cm tall with now 47-48kg (14 year old). I know how you feeling, feeling Different bc of how much I weight and others are have 5-15kg Less than me (I didn't consider the fact they are like 10-30cm Shorter) , scared of what will be if you eat something and you will Suddenly gain weight, but it's far more than that. My lowest weight bc of that belief was 44kg (without menstruation for 7 Months) If my parents aren't here with me I honestly think I wouldn't know how much to eat and die really soon. I'm not korean but their idols have perfect bodies how I wanna have. (I know IMPOSSIBLE bc I don't EVEN KNOW anyone who's Asian 🤨) Hope you are okay and have now someone who is in this journey of don't being scared of food with you! I'm with you! ❤️
how coud people say harmful things to each other?! "your legs are like elephant's"?!! i have never say or think anything like that to people, whether they're chubby or skinny. i cant ever slightly think like that. it's so disrespectful!!
sugar sweet same. Well even if we never talk like that to other people, but still other people will judge about our appearance. My friend always said that i am fat. Even though my weight was just 53 kg. Sometimes she said that im ugly.
Unfortunately it's common in some Asian cultures. My parents and relatives make comments about my body since young. Pig, fat, etc. My BMI is 26... Just a bit overweight .
Because people who say such mean things to other people are actually very insecure, thus they make other people feel bad just to feel good in their own skin or subconsciously validate themselves
@@StarsNight123 it's not only Korea it's usually all around Asia other Western/Asian countries also have quite high standards of beauty and they're judgement is way more hurtful than in korea back when I was in middle School I had a friend she was bullied for being slightly healthy she was getting alot more hateful comments like u would break a chair if u sit on it etc....... I was really sad for her cause I used to be a little heavy boned back than but now i'm alot better but still I can not get over the standards of beauty like it gives you alot of depression and anxiety
Me too im actually much bigger than my older sister its just that people mistook that im older somefime its annoying but i did lot of weight and i liked it but i wanted to have a body that looks healthy and sexy thays why i eat healthy and exercise because being skinny isnt always good
Normally people with eating disorders are very secretive, but it almost sounds like she's proud of it. This is actually really bad for her and a big cause for concern. Sadly the show doesn't treat it as such..
sadly if you look at anorexic girls, they are proud of what they achieve. whenever they lose weight they see it as something that they have achieved and something to be very proud of. that is why it is so hard to break the cycle because it becomes very addicting to them to lose weight constantly. they don't have self esteem and this behavior gives them so much control over their lives.
Someonefreshandclean Yeah but they don't brag about it like she's doing. They dont talk about how they starve themselves like she's doing because it's shameful. They're proud of the weight they're losing but they lie about how much they've eaten bc if they're found out they have to go to therapy since it is not considered to be okay. The fact that she's so comfortable talking about this is very disturbing to me because it shows the views on weight in korea. The skinnier the better, even if it's unhealthy.
It is true that it seems like a normal everyday thing, because none seemed that worried about it (in korea). Just wanted to point out the inner workings of people that are anorexic. they don't consider it a bad thing. they consider it as something good for themselves. and in most western cultures they try to hide it, because they are afraid of the backlash as you said. but they feel the same as this girl. if they have not fainted yet, they are okay, if they have managed to survive on cherrytomatoes that is great. it is truly sickening. The fact that there are no rehab facilities for anorexic girls in korea tells you all.
*The apink members saying they arent skinny isnt really helpful... even though it was a joke, it could make the girl be like "if you're not skinny, than what am i?"*
Your getting the wrong idea tho, im sure they're also self conscious with their looks. The editing doesn't help to. Also their also human like me and u
Obviously she needs to go to a psychologist, but I loved how they told that she was like Beyoncé. Her method is dangerous, she needs to exercise and eat healthily. I hope it gets better. Fighting!
I really like what they said about her having the wrong role model. There are so many different body types around the world that one ideal body type isn't enough. If you're going to look up to someone for body goals it should be someone with a similar body shape because then those goals are actually attainable. Just be the best version of yourself. That and having confidence and loving yourself will make you 10x more attractive than a stupid diet
Somewhere else other than McDonalds and Walmart! Lots of tragedy happen there! I once say a crazy man with a fake white rose waiting for his date. His date never came. It happened at McDonald’s. Walmart is just straight up a mess.
I lost 10kg too but never will i skip meals for three days, thats too extreme! Just cut down on carbs and exercise can help you maintain a slim body. Our body needs essential nutrients! Starving yourself won't help and would lead to yoyo diet instead!
to the people saying she is going to get an eating disorder: she already has one. she won't take medicine because she would have to eat, wont listen to her doctor and stop exercising. i feel so sorry for her :( i think some people only take eating disorders seriously when the affected looks super skinny.. so sad.
when yeongja mentioned that she's like beyoncé that was really cute. yeah it is true that the western culture is more on thicker figures and the asian culture is about being skinny. i think that she should try and have a role model that fits her body because not everyone is tall and not everyone is skinny due to their build.
I know this is a late comment. But that's probably how they see themselves. We always focus on our imperfections that others don't see. We are our own harshest critics sometimes.
These sisters are so beautiful, and I can clearly see that they both really love and care for each other. I hope the older sister will be able to overcome her confidence issues and realize she is already perfect the way she is.
what gets me is they eat just enough to keep their body storing fat and burning the tiny amount of carbs they do get instead of using their fat stores for energy. if she just went on a full fast (or heaven forbid, a healthy low carb diet) instead of that shitty tomato egg “diet” she’d actually start burning her fat for fuel and have energy again. her body literally can’t access her excess body weight on the diet she’s on.
4:53 oh honey hyuna was not born into a skinny body, she literally mentioned losing weight before debuting into wonder girls. Most idols go through extreme diet and starvation during debuts and comebacks. Please never follow these they gain weight right back and then just do the diets again super unsustainable 😞😞😞
I can't really blame the sister, she's influenced by kpop stars & her co-worker's toxic comments. Like she implied herself, it will take a dangerous situation like fainting for her to re-consider how she diets. But what Eunji said was really important, she isn't losing weight sustainably. Starving yourself is the most counter-productive thing you can do to lose weight, and it's not healthy you're depriving your body of nutrients and your body stores more fat to sustain itself.
Feeda H I was about to say that I can see where she's coming from becuase I always wanted to be skinny when I saw all the kidols and actresses and I would starve myself by only eating apples and bananas for the whole day. I'm fine now but I just shows how much of an impact others can make.
MsTomatoGuru I don’t know but I am thinking it’s not easy to have self confidence when people hurt you because of your size, based on my experience someone told me that I have a butt as big as the carabao’s,another told me to pay more than the usual fare because they believed that I occupied more space and i am often told that I’ll gonna break things because of my size .
@@maryjanecungao923 wtf just ignore them sis , they aren't confident in themselves so they try to bring you down too 💖 love yourself and ignore them haters
Korea really needs to change their views on weight because at this point it's gonna become a mental and a health problem. Being skinny is not healthy. There's a difference. And if you're gonna lose weight do it healthily. Also I'm Korean and i know it's not every Korean is like this but they're very judgmental and compare a lot. Know that whatever you say might have a huge impact on someone
My older sister is thinner and prettier then me. I went out with my mum once and we saw a relative and greeted her. The first thing she said to me when she saw me was "You got so fat why aren't you like your sister? She's so pretty and thin, while your not!" My mum agreed with her. Guess who has an eating disorder now XD I lost much weight they still say I'm not as good as her. I don't give a fuck tho I love my sister and I'm beautiful fuck haters. Sry for my englisch it's not my first language
I actually kinda understand her position. I used to dance intensively then suddenly had to quit because of a situation, and yeah I gained weight very fast it's uncontrollable. but the more I tried dieting by skipping meals just made me gain more weight, I think it's stressing the body unconsciously. if she keeps doing this method, it's not only risky but to me it's kind of futile? instead of skipping meals just exercise regularly replacing the dance routine she used to do and it will keep her body in shape and lost some weight somehow
LORI'S WORLD please, NEVER do this to yourself. It’s okay to feel insecure, but there’s healthy ways to combat that. Get into the habit of exercising regularly, even if it means having a 15 minute walk daily. Cut down on junk and you’ll notice gradual changes. Just please don’t, under any circumstances, do what the girl in this video is doing.
She has eating disorder it's not a risky diet, lol. 💀 More likely she has anorexia, reminder it's mental disorder and avoiding situations with food, restrict/under eat, fear food, over exercise e.t.c. It's signs of it. You can have them no matter what your weight. And she clearly have most of them. If you don't have anotexia of course you can't relate to her. "__"
This maybe late but I really credit what the lady said at 15:15 about choosing the wrong role model. Like honestly having idols as a role model and it being such a massive thing to be seen as attractive if you are stick thin really destroys a lot of people's self confidence and perception. I really credit what she says there about choosing the wrong role model
Eat more. Exercise just as much, it will make sure that your body doesn't store fat because you're not feeding it enough energy. Fat is your energy reserves, so try to deplete your bodily energy through exercise. Also, weighing 40 is not good if that weight is fat, so you have got to trade your fat in for muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, you will weigh more. But that number increase wont mean as much when you look good as you will. If you want a good body and 'look' exercise is vital and a GOOD, HEALTHY diet is helpful. NOT STARVATION. -- btw i know she most likely wont see this, but its for all those in the same boat as her. Diet wisely, but have at least 3 meals a day, its only natural to eat 3 times and feel satisfied with your appetite, all you need is exercise :)
As soon as she stood up, I could see the areas that she wanted to lose weight in. But this is through the lens of watching Korean body and fashion culture. She wants the ant waist and to lose weight in her legs and thighs. Even though right now she looks perfectly fine to me, others in Korea might even think she's a bit fat as she is currently. There is no winning in Korea with your body, they constantly criticize even your ankle fat.
Olivia Haslett damn they criticize a lot! One time, some one wrote that when they visited Korea to meet with their family, they told her to eat less cause she looks like she gained a lot over the case of 2 years, when she was very healthy and not fat and weight of 150.
these types of diets just don't work for long term results. It's best to eat healthier, whether it's small portions throughout the day or just your normal three meals a day. jfc
Yes. Even if she did lose the weight, the lengths she would have to go to are not sustainable, so she would never be able to eat the foods she liked or even eat properly. She might actually die first. That is scary to think about. She needs help from a mental health professional because her body is awesome and I'm sure that however she will look as a result of eating well and exercising will not only look amazing, but feel even better. What people say about it really isn't important and their perspective is shallow to even think certain body types or characteristics are undesirable. Preferences are ok, belittling others is not.
its just the Korean culture. its an everyday thing for most Koreans to diet. I don't think its a concern but I think the real problem is that she diets because of people talking about her to lose weight. it mostly because of stress.
That's not a diet. That is anorexia. She is literally starving her body. That is dangerous and should not be normalized. Saying that's korean culture is not an excuse. Something needs to change with that type of mentality.
The concern is for the younger sister being annoyed by her older sister taking out her stress on her. It's NOT ABOUT if the older sisters diet is dangerous.
She's gonna go anorexic if she continues. I dropped from 130 pounds to about 95 pounds (this was when I'm 18 years old and 5'4) just from "one day a meal diet" and it was not a good phase of my life. Eat healthier and don't skip any meals!!
DynamicQueen i'm thinking about using the one day one meal method, but i'm afraid i won't be able to do homeworks and stuff bcos i'm attending college now🙁😢
rie fa honestly, you shouldn't because it becomes a habit and it's hard to break out of it. Very dangerous too. My friends helped me with another diet. It just consist of eating fruits for breakfast, eating salad & more white meat than red meat, watching my calories intake, and eating little to no carbs for lunch and dinner.
Do not do the one meal diet. I used to do that in junior high and I got so sick and weak that I couldn't get out of bed. Just stop eating sugar, processed food, high fat foods. Just eat healthier like skinless chicken breasts, vegetables and whole wheat products like bread, rice and pasta and exercise moderately like walking or bike riding for 30 mins.
Boy: you can still lose weight just do excersize for legs only and eat a little more. I don’t think it’s a worry. Girl: you should just work on accepting yourself and stop thinking that you aren’t beautiful. It’s a worry. This says so much about society right here
Our world is seriously crazy. People starving themselves in Korea while in the US a lot of people are obese to the extend of not being able to walk properly. I spend my holidays in 4 states this month and I was shocked how many dangerously overweight people I saw.
PhineaBlue obesity and EDs make me so sad. What Obesity and EDs have in common: 1. Unhealthy eating 2. Bullying/emotional eating 3. Boredom/a wanting for control 4. Laziness 5. Insecurities 6. The media
Seriously would hate to live in Korea, the standards are so high and a lot of people are so critical to the face, i feel for them. Xx If she was where I live she'd be classed as skinny.
the reason not many people clicked the empathise button is because welll.... shes not skinny. if she was like stick skinny and came to the show the people would have cared. but because she is at the current point she is they were like oh its no big deal shes not even skinny, people seem to fucking forget having an eating disorder does not mean a skinny girl shyly refusing food, it can happen to any sex or gender at any age. its a horrible thing and just having people who love you does no fucking good cos so what? you dont even love yourself.
When they said they are not that skinny, i was like "what, for real?" they are skinny in my opinion and with this comeback they seem to lose more weight. If they have a healthy diet then it's fine. This show how idol or celebrities beauty standard affect young people. I really like it when i see an idol that chubby or not skinny, it feel more natural and it's made me feel that she is confident and not care about what other's say. When i see skinny idol, i always thought how hard they went on with their diet
and from what i see the sister body has more build, more muscle from dancing for many years that why she doesn't look skinny even her weight is 53 kg. and to said she want to be under 40 kg, is shocking. that's so severe. and all of those ugly things people said to her, i wish she has more confident in herself and doesn't let those words get to her. This is the same thing i told my friend who have low self-esteem. I'm the person with really high confident but i know i might not met with the beauty standard but i choose not to care. I'm not always like that too, I used to got teased and made fun of a lot but with time i learned that when you became confident and can stand for yourself, people won't dare to mess with you anymore. to all the young girls out there
Zisel Sabia actually I don't see much difference when they have comeback or when they don't have it . Don't they also need to wear the same outfit for performances like crop top even if they r not promoting
honestly, the reasons why idols are so slim is because of the diet and the exercise (~7hrs of dance) every day, it does not just come from diet. that's one part that most korean girls have from the start because no one or rarely ppl mention about the exercise part, all they ever ask is what do you eat, what is your diet. and honestly it's really a serious problem if you ask me, girls as young as 10 are wanting to look like idols, thank god on the other side of the world, yall have a wider range of celebs to look up to, who are healthy looking. its just the korean industry and how they see what is beautiful, trust me, no body dislikes eating not even idols, it's just that as an idol, they have to make this sacrifice of needing to diet.. pretty sad if u ask me i love food and i want to thank god for a good metabolism though i still have some tummy going on
2:06 bomi and eunji sharing that knowing look actually scares me. they've probably had to go through diets like those in secret by their company and know how bad it was
Because diets are miserable and people want to be done with them as soon as possible! Some people think that if you have to choose between being miserable for 3 months or extra miserable for 3 weeks, you should choose the 3 weeks option. Although I agree that it's unhealthy.
The beauty standard in Asia not only in Korea is crazy 4 years ago we moved in America and you know there's a lot of delicious food and I gained weight I mean for 56 kg is not that bad plus my classmates never said anything about my physical look but when I visited Philippines most of the people that I know keep saying "Wow you're so fat" "look at your cheeks your legs" they keep saying mean things about my body so even tho I want to enjoy the food that I missed I can't eat anything because of them. That even I'm back in US I keep starving myself 😩
Eliaa z Thank you for the tips I should probably do that. Not only my family but also my friends like seriously 56 kg is not that bad. but on what they said it keep pressuring me to loose weight
Gurl I went home to the Philippines last month and all I got from my relatives and my family's friend is insults.... I got roasted so bad that my self esteem dropped down. Foods in America is indeed bomb but sometimes bad for our metabolism. Btw I'm 165cm and 140 pounds.
yoonji noona I don't know what happened to Filipino's I mean before fat shaming isn't that bad in the Philippines but now everyone only care about your physical appearance it makes me feel sad that even my family and friends is doing the same thing. 😔
I have to say I do understand her, as being someone who has lost weight and always struggled with weight, the more you lose weight the more you'll obsess over it and it's really hard to not do it even though a part of you understands that what you're doing is ridiculous and not good for you. It's an endless fight with yourself.
I have to say I heard what the girl from Apink said. My mom told me this once. During school I wouldn't eat at all but in the summers I would eat regularly and I would slowly loose weight. Now that I attend a school with more food choices I loose weight more faster cause I eat normally and exercise at school and I walk home from the bus stop sometimes. I remember sometimes feeling weak when I didn't eat and had to do PE that I started getting a stomach cramp and dizzy. Best of advice: add in some healthy food. Cut less on some things and try to experiment with veggies to something you like and exercise regularly. Just walk around the house, clean, or go for a walk instead of driving :D
Firstly, ppl who said those mean things to her can screw off. Secondly, there's nothing wrong with wanting to have a better body, but so many out there (not just in Korean lbr) are dieting the wrong way and are not aware that our bodies still requires a certain amt of everything to function. Cutting down on food intake definitely works, but it has to be done right! Don't skip meals, and stay healthy through exercising and from there maintain that body weight. I hope girls (and guys too) will not go down the wrong way and harm/damage their bodies! Lastly, always feel confident and love your body!
I am half a stone underweight, I know it doesn’t seem like much and since my body is actually fatter than “ideal” my skinny ness wasn’t an issue to anyone but me. I was ferociously trying to gain weight even if me reaching the healthy amount made me fat or uglier, I needed a good health and that is all I told myself. One time I didn’t have breakfast and during PE outside in the sun I was running and my legs started trembling, I tried to move them but I couldn’t and my knees collapsed. I felt really sick and tried to keep walking the rest or slow jog but my body was running on no food so my system shut down and I ended up throwing up in a messy fit in front of everyone. It’s because of me not eating enough and being too underweight, my body just couldn’t handle since there was no fat for it to turn into energy. The other girls were ok because though they didn’t have breakfast they had enough weight on them. You know what I find annoying? I was still classed as “fat.” If fat is what it’s like to have the smallest belly and tiniest legs then I am fat. If fat is what it’s like to collapse and throw up because your body can’t function with what little weight you have, I am fat. So for those people with impossible beauty standards and want girls impossibly skinny and underweight, I’m looking at you society, keep in mind you want girls with terrible health and hardly enough energy to for their bodies to function.
at the rate of her situation, going to hello counselor would be one of the least that the sister could do. because what she really needs is tremendous love and acceptance for who she is and what she is. she's slowly having an eating disorder, and eating disorders are so hard to stop once it starts.
MTE! I recall reading that the brain is wired differently in those with eating disorders and humans being creatures of habit, it is difficult to break that vicious, self-destructive cycle.
to those two male guests, how the fuck... is this not considered a concern??? She eats 5 cherry tomatoes and 2 eggs every day. Doesn't fucking matter that she has a boyfriend and sister to love her, it's a concern that she doesn't love her body and is resorting to such torturous ways to have a better body
they were referring to the actual person that put in the concern when they said it wasn't. they said that the dieting habits of the sister were the concern, not the fact that the younger sister was annoyed about not being able to eat in the house.
We're you watching the same video? No where did they use the word "annoyed" from either the sister or the guests. Eating disorders is a seriously thing that can lead to death so it's a great concern. The men's logic make no sense at all and only shows that they have no idea what they are talking about.
ok listen i speak korean and literally the first guy says "in the perspective of the YOUNGER SISTER (as in, the younger one being hurt by her older sister snapping at her every time she eats food) it's not a concern, and because the older sister has a lot of people around her that love her, if she learns to love herself more, she will get better" and the second guy says that because she has the motivation, she can learn self love and do things in a healthier manner because she also has that support around her. even eunji says that dieting is fine but just that she needs to do it in a healthier way they're saying the same stuff, just because they worded it differently doesn't mean the men support her starving herself
Koreans cite "health" as a reason to lose weight but think not eating is the way to do that? Starving yourself is terrible for your health. I wish they would stop promoting such unrealistic standards of thinness. Eating disorders must be rampant over there. It's so sad.
i agree, sadly, being underweight is viewed as carrying less health risks than being overweight, in general. also if you're fat, some cultures see those people as 'undisciplined'.this is one thing i can't get - in some countries you have to pay more on taxes if you're fat, because of insurance (you might get diabetes, cancer, eg) but if you're underweight, your brain can't work properly and your immune system is shutting down, so you get sick easily...
bloopbleep23 Actually, everybody cites health as an excuse to lose weight. Even I used health as my guise as a developed extreme paranoia and anxiety when dieting. It's very sad when you think about, because it means the vast majority of Koreans living in Seoul have some form of eating disorder.
actually it is stressful to be in her place. seems like she is in a rush to be thinner so people could stop saying that to her. its wrong diet but just like her, i dont think i can manage that...
As someone who suffers from an eating disorder this was really disheartening to watch. Anorexia and it's effects are really downplayed. I started at the age of 10 and stopped at 14, by then I weighed 85 lbs, severally underweight by bmi standards. My family did nothing but continuously yell at me saying that I was too lazy to cook for myself. They don't believe in mental disorders. They think that people who suffer from mental disorders are evil and have a weak mind. My uncles called me fat and ugly, to me the solution was obvious, lose weight so they can't call me fat anymore. With every pound I lost I grew "happy", eventually it wasn't about being skinny but anorexia was a way to cope with stress. My immune system grew weak, I was constantly sick, feeling light headed, the wind could knock me over. Nobody bothered to help, my family, my friends they all just watched me slowly kill myself. I had to get out on my own, I still have times where I fall back into the routine of starving but I remind myself that their are other ways to cope with stress and to lose weight. I hope that eating disorders will be taken more seriously.
I honestly went through the same issue of being called ugly and fat by close family members and some acquaintances. However, when I decided that I wanted to change that (the fact that I'm fat) I decided to go the healthy root. I drank smoothies (vege smoothies) for breakfast, apple as a snack, ate lunch (anything offered in my school caf), drank green tea for my coffee replacement and had another green smoothie and meal cooked by my mom which I would put a lot of extra spinach to make it healthy. OH and I exercised for 30 minutes everyday after school (dance videos). I honestly although it did take awhile, I was proud that I was able accomplish this. I hope u stay strong and never fall back to that routine and instead add have a balanced meal full of veges+protein+carbs to keep u healthy and strong.
I do agree with people saying that most people who appear on Hello Counselor might need some serious help. But then again I feel like this is so good for the general public. Not only does it show make subjects like this less taboo AND probably helps people who are going through the same thing feel less alone. It also shows that extreme diets like this are NOT okay!!!
7:44 OMG I RELATE TO THIS SO BADDD my older sister is 10kg lighter then me when she is 5 years older, and when she was my age she was even lighter and she ate 2bowls of rice per meal!! She has been skinny all her life and she sometimes eat mcdonalds at 11 pm! I cant even because i gain weight so easily, and she even asks me how to gain weight ;.; When i gave her the advice she told me she is already doing all that TT we have the same parents, but whyyyyyy TTTTT
( me trying to diet ) Don't eat or snack when you're not hungry, okay self? Morning: Ok... I'll eat a banana, Afternoon: Walks in kitchen to get something to drink. **sees junk food** "Just a couple chips won't make a difference." (ends up eating around 5-6 handfuls of chips) "Oh no what have I done!" **goes on a 5 minute jog to punish myself** (comes back thinking), '"Okay now that I've lost a little calories, I am kind of 'hungry' so I'll eat a little **starts eating junk food and more** Dinnertime: Ugh I've ate too much today, I won't eat dinner. ( at 11:00 PM eating stuffing my face with leftovers from dinner that I tried to avoid eating ). OH MY GOD WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME, how do people with successful diets able themselves to resist the sight of food, I don't understand!! xD
alot of people don't know that the reason some can't stop eating is because your brain has an unconscious part that tells you to breathe when you're asleep and other things and the need to eat even when you don't feel hungry comes from this part of the brain its your body trying to survive because it feels as tho its not getting the nutrients it needs and people don't know when your brian sends these signals your body tends to go for junk food because its easy and fast to eat so sometimes you need to listen to your body and instead of not eating try eating 5 small meals that is high in the nutrients your body needs and try exercising. the reason you had wanted to eat after your jog was because your body went into survival mode. i thought if i hadn't eaten that i'll lose all the fat in my body but i stayed the same thats when i learned this and started to listen to my body instead of starving it and i started to see a difference. so try listening to your body and im sure youll see the results you've been wanting and don't punish your self for your body doing what its built to do. its ok to eat
at 2:38 - 2:44 i can't hold myself how Taejoon look at bomi and smile.. both of them look shy especially bomi, she looking dont want look at Taejoon.. lets hope they will couple one day huhu
Lol i sat next to a grandma on the bus in korea. She pinched my cheek and said it was nice to see some chubby people and that I looked like a sack of good luck... lol gave me a good laugh
I used to do that korean diet last year.eating once a day it really made my body very weak i experience also that anytime u will collapse. At first its like an achievement for u that u can wear any size of clothes and can look good on u.but after that i fell sick.i got shingles because of weak immune system then now i have highblood.allergies and asthma. Now i can only eat healthy food and mostly steam veg.
It’s not a korean diet it’s “extreme idol diets” there’s a difference a healthy korean diet consists of main dishes served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner which consists of rice, veggies, kimchi, and meats and an idol diet is something like water and a small sweet potato for breakfast and a banana for lunch and a protein shake for dinner
Some people was born with a big bone inside their body.. your body doesn't only contained fat but also another parts.. i think she forget to think about that. Person who born with wide/big bone can look fat outside and no matter how much their trying to lose weight they stuck with big looking physical y k 😐
her body is BEAUTIFUL. truly a dancer's body which shows so much strength, she should be proud! such a shame that body shape isn't celebrated more in korean culture.
It's so messed up that we live in a society that only cares about the superficial things. I wish people wouldn't judge others based on the clothing size.
honestly, i get the same treatment as she does. to be fair i am bigger than her, but i always get comments about my weight every single day. bless her, i hope she learns she is perfect the way she is.
I weigh 114 pounds and I want to weigh 85 pounds, so I’m on a diet of 300 calories a day Idk if this diet is unhealthy, but I’m getting good results. I lost 14 pounds in one month, so I’m going to continue this diet for two more months. I just hope I don’t get addicted. Wish me luck!
Omg that's so unhealthy please no. 85 pounds is not maintainable for anyone who's over age of 12 you're already at a perfect weight. It's so dangerous to diet like because it can lead to body dysmorphia and eating disorders if you really feel strong to lose anymore please see a doctor this is so dangerous. My best friend almost died from a diet like this it's not healthy
Orlaith Heggarty Moore hi I wrote that more than a year ago (I’m 14 now) ur right it did turn into a eating disorder. I started throwing up my food cause I couldn’t loose weight but after a while I realized that it was wrong and it was affecting me a lot but now I’m happy weighing 120
I really hope she sees a therapist and dietitian to help her overcome this and learn what her body really needs. I hope she is okay and gets the help she needs 😘😘
It's not understood in s.kr yet.
This show needs to start getting doctors in becuase things like this are more serious and can't be fixed by just talking
Yang Jeongin's Mother they speak to real certified counselors and specialist after the show so their fine and getting the help they need
@@지효문-b3z Oh really!?, it's good to know that🙋♀️
@@지효문-b3z Good to know
i definitely agree. instead of giving advice or discuss it in serious way, they always joking 😦😦😦
If the show was full of doctors you would think it's boring and probably wouldn't be watching it.
Watch more videos. Everybody in Korea and Japan is like that.
Of course the idol girls saw it as a problem because they know the struggle and the suffering she’s going through but everyone in the audience??
even if they get sm votes , what things could have change
The fact that she got 73 VOTES makes WORRY about the mentality of Korean citizens seriously
well its sad but it is how korean diet works, i have a korea friend (who is not fat at all) she claimed that she is fat and only eat 3 bananas every day for 3 whole month :(
True
elena ejja same, but i also dont get why they go to hello counselor, when they should go to a professional.

I sometimes feel like punching people who call me fat and not shaped
how coud people say harmful things to each other?!
Sometimes she said that im ugly.
sugar sweet some people are really like that. I'm 78 kg and 5' 5" and one of my classmates told me, What have you been eating? pig feed?
It’s not only about being skinny ,
She is stressed bcs people keep telling that she is fat.
Me too im actually much bigger than my older sister its just that people mistook that im older somefime its annoying but i did lot of weight and i liked it but i wanted to have a body that looks healthy and sexy thays why i eat healthy and exercise because being skinny isnt always good
I think people at her job just being jealous or petty at her.
People need to realize that starving yourself isn't a "diet", and it shouldn't be treated like one. It's not something that should be taken lightly.

i totally agree, starving yourself is not the same as fasting
it technically is a diet, a diet isn't something you do to lose weight it's your eating habits.. or lack of one
I love it when that girl smile :) she looks so cute and cheerful!
Rafiq
Do you mean eunji and bomi ??
No I think it about the girl who is concerned about her weight
I think Rafiq meant the younger sister that had the concern for her older sister
Someonefreshandclean Yeah true
Someonefreshandclean !
Being told that you are like Beyonce is one heck of a bloody complement 😤👌💕
@nightwishnemo to each their own . Can't get much better than the Queen B
It depends cuz everyone has their own preference
Not for East Asians as they abhor black people and Beyoncé is a proud black woman
When she said she wanted to be under 40kg . girl chill. Even tiny idols like taeyeon and iu aren't under 40kg. smh
Gladys Mba some Japanese girls are tho
Rem we can't all be smol Japanese girls tho
Ickguenthrasil I know I'm just saying because I heard some other people saying it to be impossible
Dahye Mun Japanese girls are also known for body dysmorphia and eating disorders
Height is important too.
*The apink members saying they arent skinny isnt really helpful... even though it was a joke, it could make the girl be like "if you're not skinny, than what am i?"*
frr and the apink membes are hella skinny too
Your getting the wrong idea tho, im sure they're also self conscious with their looks.
She should move to the States and maybe work at a local Walmart. It would definitely lift her spirit up.
River D 😂😂😂
Somewhere else other than McDonalds and Walmart! Lots of tragedy happen there! I once say a crazy man with a fake white rose waiting for his date. His date never came. It happened at McDonald’s. Walmart is just straight up a mess.
Is this forreal?? 😂
Walmart u trying to kill her , Walmart lowkey has more stress
What.
I lost 10kg too but never will i skip meals for three days, thats too extreme! Just cut down on carbs and exercise can help you maintain a slim body. Our body needs essential nutrients! Starving yourself won't help and would lead to yoyo diet instead!
to the people saying she is going to get an eating disorder: she already has one. she won't take medicine because she would have to eat, wont listen to her doctor and stop exercising. i feel so sorry for her :( i think some people only take eating disorders seriously when the affected looks super skinny.. so sad.
Unfortunately that's true...
Me with an 3D who’s successfully mastered medicine without food: You mean people aren’t taking meds?
when yeongja mentioned that she's like beyoncé that was really cute. yeah it is true that the western culture is more on thicker figures and the asian culture is about being skinny. i think that she should try and have a role model that fits her body because not everyone is tall and not everyone is skinny due to their build.
How can Eunji and Bomi say that they're not skinny?!
Maybe to say to her they are a good weight
I know this is a late comment. But that's probably how they see themselves. We always focus on our imperfections that others don't see. We are our own harshest critics sometimes.
because they weren't that skinny though. i even told myself if eunji and bomi were thicc,,, bcs i love thicc queens 👁️👄👁️

Korean diet aka I'm starving till death
This is Rap Monster from BTS yep they have no conception of what diet really means
Baobab Bombastic it's not just Korea tho. It's all of Asia
Love your name btw
what gets me is they eat just enough to keep their body storing fat and burning the tiny amount of carbs they do get instead of using their fat stores for energy. if she just went on a full fast (or heaven forbid, a healthy low carb diet) instead of that shitty tomato egg “diet” she’d actually start burning her fat for fuel and have energy again. her body literally can’t access her excess body weight on the diet she’s on.
Its really starting to be everywhere as time goes and when more diets are made. its honestly saddening to see this happen to many people
"How do you relieve your stress"
"I eat." Relatable.
That's an eating disorder not a diet
I think the sister is honestly super pretty. I think maybe it’s her hair that doesn’t really frame her face. But honestly, she’s beautiful
Can i just say... I ADORE YEONGJA! Love her confidence and I hope more people can be like her!

Korea really needs to change their views on weight because at this point it's gonna become a mental and a health problem. Being skinny is not healthy. There's a difference. And if you're gonna lose weight do it healthily. Also I'm Korean and i know it's not every Korean is like this but they're very judgmental and compare a lot. am always very conscious of my body but this dieting method is risky
I actually kinda understand her position. I used to dance intensively then suddenly had to quit because of a situation, and yeah I gained weight very fast it's uncontrollable. but the more I tried dieting by skipping meals just made me gain more weight, I think it's stressing the body unconsciously. if she keeps doing this method, it's not only risky but to me it's kind of futile? instead of skipping meals just exercise regularly replacing the dance routine she used to do and it will keep her body in shape and lost some weight somehow
nianonymous omg same. =/
Kingsly PREACH!!!! 🙏
shut up
I feel like it wasnt tooken as seriously as it shouldve been.
Olivia Haslett I think kpop idols and actresses really do influence people in a bad way sometimes
The younger sister is sooo pretty I can't even take my eyes off of her lol
these types of diets just don't work for long term results. It's best to eat healthier, whether it's small portions throughout the day or just your normal three meals a day. jfc
Em. Agree, and exercise plays an important part to losing weight just as healthy meals do.
However what she is doing is not a diet, she is showing all symptoms of an eating disorder
Eunji feels so real and natural. She’s not like the other kpop idols that are overly cute and stuff
How can that get 73 worries? Like ¿
I knowwwwwww, wtf¿¿¿¿¿¿¿
its just the Korean culture. its an everyday thing for most Koreans to diet.
Wang puppy Park puppy cause ppl legit probs thinks shes not skinny enough so she needs to lose it ... thats korea:(
She is really beautiful! 제대로 예쁘고 이런 좋은 여동생이 있어서 진짜 다행히. 건강은 제일 중요하죠! Don't let the bad words from others affect you!
It just consist of eating fruits for breakfast, eating salad & more white meat than red meat, watching my calories intake, and eating little to no carbs for lunch and dinner.
rie fa !
She is already anorexic.
What Obesity and EDs have in common:
1. Unhealthy eating
2. Bullying/emotional eating
3. Boredom/a wanting for control
4. Laziness
5. Insecurities
6. The media
PhineaBlue not only in korea but whole asia😢😢
People are in two extremes. It's terrible
This is sadly very true
off-topic; eunji is so educated and well-spoken, i love her !!
I think they meant " slim"
Wow the girl that thinks she is “fat” is soooo pretty. She reminds me a lot of twice Jihyo, stunning. 🤩
honestly, the reasons why idols are so slim is because of the diet and the exercise (~7hrs of dance) every day, it does not just come from diet. that's one part that most korean girls have from the start because no one or rarely ppl mention about the exercise part, all they ever ask is what do you eat, what is your diet. and honestly it's really a serious problem if you ask me, girls as young as 10 are wanting to look like idols, thank god on the other side of the world, yall have a wider range of celebs to look up to, who are healthy looking. its just the korean industry and how they see what is beautiful, trust me, no body dislikes eating not even idols, it's just that as an idol, they have to make this sacrifice of needing to diet.. pretty sad if u ask me i love food and i want to thank god for a good metabolism though i still have some tummy going on
2:06 bomi and eunji sharing that knowing look actually scares me. they've probably had to go through diets like those in secret by their company and know how bad it was
People who want to loose 5 kg in a week bc it's faster:
Me: GURL YOU WERE ALL THE TIME LIKE THIS SO WHY LOOSING 5 KG IN A WEEK?
Because diets are miserable and people want to be done with them as soon as possible! Some people think that if you have to choose between being miserable for 3 months or extra miserable for 3 weeks, you should choose the 3 weeks option. Although I agree that it's unhealthy.
Meg S miserable v2: premium edition
Lmaooo I am both of those people at the same time XD
The younger sister’s smile is so beautiful 😍
Jim kemp one of my friends said tumaba ka, and I replied, gumanda ka? Lmaoooo BAHAHAHAHA
56 kg is not bad..
Everyone is BEAUTIFUL in their own way.😍💕💕
she look like hani😂 or am i crazy?
crystalina dibble girl I literally said the same thing...I was looking for this comment,so no your not crazy😂
I know right!! they have a similar face
crystalina dibble I WAS SCROLLING TO SEE IF SOMEONE NOTICED THAT TO
If Hani and Jihyo had a baby
@@shreyashaji1061 yes omg
from all antagonist in this show, finally I find not really selfish n stubborn person...wishing both of you live happily together
The older sister reminded me a little tinyyyy bit of Hani from Exid
And the other sister slightly looks like jisoo
at the rate of her situation, going to hello counselor would be one of the least that the sister could do. because what she really needs is tremendous love and acceptance for who she is and what she is. she's slowly having an eating disorder, and eating disorders are so hard to stop once it starts.
The men's logic make no sense at all and only shows that they have no idea what they are talking about.
ok listen i speak korean and literally the first guy says "in the perspective of the YOUNGER SISTER (as in, the younger one being hurt by her older sister snapping at her every time she eats food) it's not a concern, and because the older sister has a lot of people around her that love her, if she learns to love herself more, she will get better" and the second guy says that because she has the motivation, she can learn self love and do things in a healthier manner because she also has that support around her.
even eunji says that dieting is fine but just that she needs to do it in a healthier way
they're saying the same stuff, just because they worded it differently doesn't mean the men support her starving herself
yeah! i agree. she even avoided the hospital just cuz she was afraid that the doctor would prevent her from starving herself.
sadly, im obsessed with eating less and losing weight fast.
She is so pretty and has a great body I hope she gets to help she needs
actually it is stressful to be in her place. seems like she is in a rush to be thinner so people could stop saying that to her. its wrong diet but just like her, i dont think i can manage that...
The way Bomi is sitting.. How cute omg
I hope eating disorders will ever taken more seriously too 🙁.
I do agree with people saying that most people who appear on Hello Counselor might need some serious help. But then again I feel like this is so good for the general public. Not only does it show make subjects like this less taboo AND probably helps people who are going through the same thing feel less alone. It also shows that extreme diets like this are NOT okay!!!
everyone is so serious down in the comments, so idk if i should say this, but taejoon smiled whenever bomi talked and i just find that adorable. 😍😍
"I did Street dancing."
"Strip dancing .....?"
wowsers..
Under 40k- WHATT??????? THE FUCK
The way that man always says annyeonghaseyoooooo
The older sis has the smile that reminds me of Hani
7:44 OMG I RELATE TO THIS SO BADDD
my older sister is 10kg lighter then me when she is 5 years older, and when she was my age she was even lighter and she ate 2bowls of rice per meal!! She has been skinny all her life and she sometimes eat mcdonalds at 11 pm! I cant even because i gain weight so easily, and she even asks me how to gain weight ;.; When i gave her the advice she told me she is already doing all that TT
we have the same parents, but whyyyyyy TTTTT
''I want to have the body of someone born skinny'
'Well, too bad you're already born'
NAHHHH WHY U COME FOR HER LIKE THAT.
Love yourself: her
( me trying to diet )
Don't eat or snack when you're not hungry, okay self?
Morning: Ok... I'll eat a banana,
Afternoon: Walks in kitchen to get something to drink. **sees junk food** "Just a couple chips won't make a difference." (ends up eating around 5-6 handfuls of chips) "Oh no what have I done!" **goes on a 5 minute jog to punish myself** (comes back thinking), '"Okay now that I've lost a little calories, I am kind of 'hungry' so I'll eat a little **starts eating junk food and more**
Dinnertime: Ugh I've ate too much today, I won't eat dinner.
GIRLllll story of my life!😂😰
BITCH I'M CRYING 😂😂YOU MADE MY NIGHT THANK YOU!!😂😂💜💜
Same 😭 But we need to ditch diet!
Its probably because I live in the states, but I think she has a nice weight and people over here would consider her as "thicc" 😂
at 2:38 - 2:44 i can't hold myself how Taejoon look at bomi and smile.. both of them look shy especially bomi, she looking dont want look at Taejoon.. lets hope they will couple one day huhu
Lol i sat next to a grandma on the bus in korea. She pinched my cheek and said it was nice to see some chubby people and that I looked like a sack of good luck... lol gave me a good laugh
she look alike hani ..
When you come here looking for diet tips ....
if people at work did that to someone they would be given a verbal/written warning for harassment.
and bullying. ¿
not exist in asian company
I got up and made myself a meal after hearing this. You really shouldn't starve yourself, it only weakens your body.
Now i can only eat healthy food and mostly steam veg.
leen leen I got shingles because if this too.
She's honestly so gorgeous
Some people was born with a big bone inside their body.. your body doesn't only contained fat but also another parts.. i think she forget to think about that. Person who born with wide/big bone can look fat outside and no matter how much their trying to lose weight they stuck with big looking physical y k 😐
Anastasia Wiguna yeah I struggle with the same thing
her body is BEAUTIFUL. truly a dancer's body which shows so much strength, she should be proud! such a shame that body shape isn't celebrated more in korean culture.
It's so messed up that we live in a society that only cares about the superficial things. I wish people wouldn't judge others based on the clothing size.
I am doing intermittet fasting. This helps 100%
Eunji so pretty 😍😍😍
she works in such a toxic environment i feel so bad for her, she is gorgeous
my tip for learning to love yourself - listen to the _love yourself album_
honestly, i get the same treatment as she does. to be fair i am bigger than her, but i always get comments about my weight every single day. bless her, i hope she learns she is perfect the way she is.
I weigh 114 pounds and I want to weigh 85 pounds, so I’m on a diet of 300 calories a day
Idk if this diet is unhealthy, but I’m getting good results. I lost 14 pounds in one month, so I’m going to continue this diet for two more months. I just hope I don’t get addicted. Wish me luck!
Good luck! Keep me updated?
