Had mine for 30 years now. Will never sell it. From they keybed to the sounds and sequencer it just hits a sweet spot
As influential as the Korg M1 was, it just doesn't simply blow me away like the 01/W does. If I were to pick a keyboard representative of the best the 90s had to offer, it would be this. I can't think of another digital rompler that sounds like a real instrument quite like the 01/W. 0:23 is what sold me on this synthesizer. With combi patches that make the keyboard feel like a organic living and breathing being, an easy to use and fun sequencer/looper built in, one of the best keyboard mechanisms ever manufactured thanks to Yamaha, I think the 01/W is the apex of Korg's synthesis design philosophy.

This Korg synth is beast! The most powerful Korg Workstation imho! Especially the waveshaping is fascinating! Very FM sounding!
People don't often get the best use of digital synths when they just buy them to play piano, guitar bass etc. A digital synth is capbable of doing anything if you just spend a littletime programming it. Korg have always been good at doing pads.
The Korg 01W/Pro is still my favorite keyboard. Great demo

It’s the beginning of August 2020. I have recently taken to nostalgically wishing one of these had been my first synthesizer, particularly the 01W Pro X.
It's magical. Stunning sounds and easy to use.

6:22 Ahhh you skipped through one of the most epic sounds, patch 51, "Wonderland". One thing that sucks about the 01/Ws is the LED displays have all faded out by now. They used to be bright blue. Don't attempt to replace the LED, which is not a cheap part if you can even find one. A nightmare of a project that involves unscrewing multiple circuit boards, labeling each screw and where it goes, etc. Once you get down to the actual LED board, holding that thing into place is dicey! You won't know if you got it right until you put everything back together. Might be a total waste.

I too have a 01/Wfd, and I've written all my songs on it, but I don't know how to export (or transfer) all the MIDI information (from the sequencer) into my laptop. Do you have any experience in this?
I remember there was a midi dump. I have DS8, O1WFD and i3. I could upload DS8's ALL settings to O1's diskette, using it as backup. I found a windows-OS software that behaved like a screen to O1, where you can make many changes via computer. Midi dump is a universal midi function : you can use a synth that can function like a bridge. I'm quite sure you can upload any settings on your O1 to another midi device, that includes computers as well. Try google, you will find softwares for that.
I know it's been a couple of years since you posted this but if you didn't get an answer to your question there are many software programs that you can get to do this. Just need the USB to midi cables. Midiox might can do this or I know the cakewalk programs can file this info. I believe it's called a midi data filer. Not too sure about that. Maybe someone else can elaborate here.

Is there a way to record a sequence and play it back so I can play on top of it?
+Christian Ahidjo There are 16 channels (with 32 note polyphony), you can use for sequencing. F.ex. you may prerecord 8 channels, then you can use other 8 channel while the playback is playing (8 different instruments, or some layers. You can always chance them while playback). You can make a full sequence. Or you can make "atoms"; say partitions with different lengths. Then you can combine in one channel atom1+2+3+4 etc. On another channel atom2+2+2+2 etc. This is powerful on esp. drums and bass; preserving huge amount of memory.

Cool... my 3rd synth was the O1wfd after dx7 and M1. It still is my favourite synth. I have the KORG trinity V3, Triton Extreme 88 and the Korg M3 61 too, but I love these O1 sounds.... always will. Nostalgia perhaps. Good demo! .
Acabo de adquirir un 01/W pro pero no trae el dynopiano que puedo hacer??
Primero miraría de resetearlo a los valores de fábrica y si no aparece el Dyno Piano mirar de cargar un SYSEX con todo el data de origen. El Dyno Piano se encuentra en los presets B del modo Combi, creo que es uno de los primeros presets
Los sonidos internos los trae el teclando en si, aunque le aigan hecho modificaciones los tiene alli, Valla a Global despues 7 y despues G y pongalen Yes i solitos los carga.

Yep, it's an 01w, the display is dim, the only flaw in this board. Otherwise, this synth is one of the best in the industry, even to this day.

Ciao!;) dipende cosa devi farci e quanto recenti ti servono i suoni..la juno di non é una tastiera professionale, è una entry level di plastica, che va bene x l'uso domestico..la 01w era una top di gamma dei primi anni '90..io prenderei la 01w, che ho ancora..a differenza della juno di..;)
ok grazie:) anche perchè la korg è anche il modello pro da 76 tasti.. Un'ultima cosa siccome sono inesperto: cosa devo controllare per verificare che sia in buono stato?
Beh allora tanto meglio, i tasti sono tutta un'altra cosa..beh controlla, le uscite audio, che i tasti ritornino tutti bene al loro posto, i tastini che non siano rotti, poi sicuramente la retroilluminazione del display che sarà scarica, si puó cambiare ma ci vuole molto tempo e pazienza se si è pratici con viti/schede elettroniche etc...per il resto ti dico che è uno strumento solido (15kg la 61 e 18kg la pro76) ed è ancora molto valido..io lo uso spesso x vari suoni in fase di registrazione (pad, lead, archi synth..etc..) potresti valutare anche una korg trinity..sua diretta evoluzione..;)
grazie mille mi stai aiutando un sacco:) ma senti una cosa: posso utilizzare un cavo midi-usb per attaccarla al pc e caricarci delle patch? E poi posso utilizzarla facendole suonare in sottofondo delle base di batteria (non so se mi spiego). Purtroppo la trinity è un po' fuori budget:(
No, purtroppo essendo dei primi anni 90, puoi solo fare collegamenti tramite midi in/out con schede audio o midi per poterla usare come controller da pc..per caricare i suoni puoi farlo tramite midi sempre o meglio ancora tramite floppy...di patch se ne trovano un po' in rete!;)
