      Thank you, dude! I was. A lot of people saw this and pretended like they thought of it, lol. There was one guy who did the canopy at the same time as me, but he never posted it, he just messaged me on IG to say "I did the same thing" haha. But he used different materials.

    Hey, I just wanted to offer up a masking tip: silly putty! Much better coverage than any tape can offer. 🍻🤙

    • @Ibrahim_M
      @Ibrahim_M  Год назад +4

      Thanks! I've used it for masking before, but the thing I don't like about it is that it's amorphous, so it's very easy to miss some coverage because of a blob blocking your view of an intricate spot that was missed. Tape is more binary; it's either there or it's not. For something like this canopy it was really necessary to have that level of control that you can get with good tape.

    You did a fantastic job and really make a huge difference the canopy and cockpit rework, the canopy reshape alone is great, even more using the original molded piece!!! I think you should buy a Dremel rotary tool and it's different cutting bits/disks and drill heads, it will help you more in cutting and shaping...also maintain more control and work faster. If you did a great cutting job with a hand-held drill and bit...imagine what you can do with more control and cutting/shaping options. Will be in the lookout for this finished Batmobile project, you already hit it out of the ball park with the bases loaded with the rework done to date.

    • @Ibrahim_M
      @Ibrahim_M  Год назад

      Thanks! Yeah I have 2 dremels, but it wasn’t the tool for this. The cutting wheels would have melted the plastic and warped it, and the speed of rotary tools can cause the attachments to make a bad hop and gouge the wrong spot. Since this was such an experiment (and an expensive mistake to make) I didn’t want to risk those factors. I knew that a traditional drill would give me precise control and that’s what I was after. I also try to avoid the fumes that a dremel on plastic makes whenever possible, haha. Thanks for the kind words! Looking forward to finishing this thing!

    • @federicoperez-frugalscalem5275
      @federicoperez-frugalscalem5275 Год назад

      @@Ibrahim_M I see your point and respect your preferred choice of tools and techniques, I use my rotary tools in almost all plastics and depending on thickness I graduate the speed, also use metal fine cutting disks or reinforced ones...never the thin brittle paste type cutting disks that break easily and can damage the work/model been done. The only two plastics that I use masks with filters because the smell and dangerous dust are acrylic and ABS/PBC and also resin made pieces but I use those rarely, I use styrene and brass mostly for my scale modeling work. Once more you did a superb modification in the canopy and cockpit.
      I will be doing something similar to a friends Batmobile...but for the canopy will do a completely new one from termoforming styrene sheet over a carved/shaped balsa wood mold and add then cut open the windshield area with lower curvature and add the clear parts.

I painting the canopy, however I brush painted it also I painted the wheel hubs a silver gray this also I painted by brush. I have to tell you this was all inspired by you and I am very pleased. Thank you.

    Dude!! I love your ingenuity, skill and dedication. It looks awesome!!
    Wish I could send you my Batmobile from Australia to do the same custom job! 😂
    The canopy gives it much more meaner look. That’s what I loved about the 89 Batmobile all it’s slick lines on the canopy and the front lights are so aggressive like Batman’s deep angled brows on his cowl.

      @Ibrahim_M  Год назад +1

      Thanks! The problem is that a lot of it doesn’t lend itself to recording for a lot of reasons, and also it’s a lot of work to edit down to footage that people ultimately skip anyway (according to RUclips analytics). Also the videos would just be way too long (which again, people unfortunately don’t watch). So I try to edit everything down to give people the info they need and trim out the “fat” as it were. On this video for example, it’s over 20min long, and the average view duration out of 10k+ views is just over 7min. But I appreciate you checking it out!

    That is looking pretty good. I love seeing the inside of the whole thing, it sure helps if/when I get the chance to mod it myself. For the canopy, when you drilled in to cut it, try a jewelry saw. It would have made a thinner cut line and a little more control. And your tutorials are inspirational and love seeing your previous mods and setup in your background. Will be following for more.

    • @Ibrahim_M
      @Ibrahim_M  Год назад

      Thank you! And thanks for the tip! I have a small hack saw that I thought about using, but it's a little unruly at times and the teeth are offset too wide-- I'd never considered a jeweler's saw. That would probably be perfect. Are the blades easily bent/broken? That would be the big variable, I think.

      Thank you! Y'know, something other people have done (which I wish I'd have thought of!) was to use silver thumbtacks as the gas caps. Kinda perfect! • @Ibrahim_M
      @Ibrahim_M  Год назад +1

      Thank you! I've considered it; there are seam lines on the rear fenders in 2 places as well, but I want to avoid repainting the whole car if I can. It feels unnecessary since it's already the correct color, and the seam lines don't bother me all that much considering all of the tedious extra work they would cause, haha.

    • @Thesmartestmanalive81
