Trying to disarm a knife attack is very risky sensei but the video was well explained. In the future will you be explaining basic blocks against punches ( jabs, upper cuts etc. ) and kicks?
Sensei, during the transition of blocking the opponent (elbow to elbow) to reaching the knife-holding-wrist (in the aim of applying the forearm twist), there is a chance the opponent quickly push through the knife and it could go straight to your open area (chest / torso) ? Or there is a trick in where / how to position the blocking upper arm ? Thanks !
I think I said clearly in the video that this is a specific situation designed to develop various skills and not to precisely recapture in the midst of a knife fight. Or did I delete that part? ;)
I think i decidedly asked DO YOU USE THESE TECHNIQUES IN FREEPLAY so i did say nothing at all about the specific situation and what it develops i asked you if you use this in freeplay to test your techniques. So do you?
You should. It is good fun and teaches a lot. Normally a rolled glossy news magazine with gaffer tape around is a better simulator for that than a wooden simulator.
Very nice techniques. Congrats for your videos. Please share more disarm techniques with us.
Thanks! The next video will be about knife taking too
