Can we address how documentaries about autism fail to put the autistic person first and try to understand how they feel

it is very important to try to understand the autistic person, absolutely. From understanding we can build on so much more. Do you have any documentaries you recommend?

Absolutely. I've become so much more aware about autism and things that go alongside like being non-verbal, having global delay, all these things from watching Fathering Autism on RUclips, their daughter Abbie has severe autism, is non-verbal and has a global delay. And i watch her speech therapy which is amazing, i also love how she can communicate through a device by clicking buttons that say things she likes, "donut" or "waffle fries" are just 2, she also uses modified sign language, and all those things together help her be able to communicate and lessen her frustration at peoples lack of understanding. Its amazing to see how her brain works, there's nothing "wrong", its just different, and we have to make efforts to figure out a way to do things that work for THEM, give them the skills and tools to be able to communicate their wants and needs. Everybody deserves to be heard! Sorry for the long comment, just feeling quite passionate about this subject at the moment! Haha

@@caromoraa1644 My son's appearance is like a normal child & he is non verbal autistic & ADHD. He too lives in his worlds & I think suffers from verbal dyspraxia. Don't know as to how future is unfolding for him with his growth...............wish something good.

I like the content of this video, but filming the info bits outside with background noise and sometimes additional added background music seems an odd choice. The interview bits with the mother talking in a still quiet background is better, but again the added background track isn’t needed. Otherwise, great content.

My son is 9yrs old now and he still not talking he was just verbal stimming. His using PECS to communicate with his teacher at school. Might wondering if speech therapy can help him vocally and got chance to talk one day?

There is permanent herbs to improve and heal autistim. It’s a medicine you can get from Dr Oyalo RUclips channel, his herbs have made my son improve perfectly in his speech and social skills. He is now verbal, responding to name and instructions
