My stepfather managed them in the 60's. They were great, but he totally took advantage of them. In an interview recently, Sue Kim also said that Bob McMackin "took advantage of them." He did and he bragged about the pitiful amount of money he paid them compared to what HE kept! Evil. But, they were great women and great musicians and entertainers! They gave me their Martin 1946 guitar when I was 9 and I've been playing it ever since!

“Try to Remember,” a film directed by Kim Dae-hyun. The movie is a wonderful tribute to Korea’s first internationally acclaimed girl band, the Kim Sisters.
Wow~! The Mother, Lee Nan-Young, with Kim Sisters & Kim Brothers..! Those were when I was elementary & middle school boy in South Korea. I've never realized they were in the Dean Martin, Ed Sullivan, or Victor Borge shows. Thank you, MWJCELL!! 💙👍👍
The sisters' English was much clearer and less accented than the brothers'. Proof positive that most languages can be learned with enough hard work and determination. Wonderful video!
The trio, made up of sisters Kim Sook-ja (Sue) and Kim Ai-ja, and their cousin Kim Min-ja (Mia), got their start in the 1950s during the Korean War. From 1953-1958, they performed on an entertainment circuit linking U.S. military camps throughout South Korea. They traveled to the United States shortly after Bob McMackin-an ex-GI turned music promoter, who became the group’s first manager-saw them perform and worked to bring them to the United States. Once they arrived in 1959, The Kim Sisters began making a name for themselves. As the daughters of composer Kim Hai-Song and legendary Korean singer Lee Nan-Young, Sue and Ai-ja were born into a musical family. Their father, an “outspoken anti-communist who incorporated Western styles into his musical composition,” was taken prisoner by North Korea in 1950 and later executed, according to The World.
KIM SISTERS made TWENTY-TWO appearances on the Sullivan show. But,VCR's weren't around until 1975. Only the act,Sullivan's people, and a few close friends had expensive VTR's (video tape recorder) copies. I really want to see more...thanks.
Arty Sykes Sr Good morning, I am very happy for .the message Flamengo soccer team still playing very bem.gostaria to know more about the Kim family. I live in Rio de Janeiro BRAZIL and I love the music of Kim sister. greetings
Drat! You have the Hollywood Palace show and I see the steel guitar in the background that Aja Kim would have used. Do you have that segment in its entirety?
Too bad they never got into doowop or Motown. They could have easily covered that music. But they were a variety act, exactly what someone like Sullivan wanted.

HISTORY LEGEND
I remember the Kim brothers while stationed in Alaska!

He nearly smiled when she sang.on "Little Darlin'." He tried not to. I think he smiled just a little bit. I sure would have.

Dean Martin was drunk and High AF on this clip, but I'm glad he had the Kim Sisters on his show.
Dean never touched a drop of alcohol. Whatever bevvy he had was apple juice.
This is KPOP ^^
Naw, better than Kpop.
Wow, the first K-pop band!
Wowww!!! Muito lindo...parabéns BRAZIL!!
Remember me Memphis arty arty? at the Flamingo Hotel 1970? Are you guys still kicking?
Arty Sykes Sr Good morning, I am very happy for .the message Flamengo soccer team still playing very bem.gostaria to know more about the Kim family. I live in Rio de Janeiro BRAZIL and I love the music of Kim sister. greetings

Once again,am requesting "Steel Guitar Rag" from this show...don't you have it??
Sorry, Ron iIjust saw this post. I unfortunately don't have that? I'll ask a Kim family member.
michael jannicelli This is definitely FAIR USE....50 years out....thanks.
Could you get KS doing "Steel Guitar Rag" (Ed Sullivan 1961 or Hwd.Palace 1966).
VERY hard to find!
Didn’t realize Hallyu started back way back.
Drat! You have the Hollywood Palace show and I see the steel guitar in the background that Aja Kim would have used. Do you have that segment in its entirety?
great Fair Use...epecially since I don't know how Sullivan's people are ever going to market this stuff after 50 years!
spoke too soon....sigh. it was cut off.
Now I need to go find a Korean woman!
My Korean grandmas last name is kim
la la la la la la~~~
Julie Andrews - Getting to know you
Is it a wonder South Korea spawned the K-Pop craze?
Too bad they never got into doowop or Motown. They could have easily covered that music. But they were a variety act, exactly what someone like Sullivan wanted.
and ne-ber libe on....
The Kim Sisters frequently performed wearing Korean hanbok and singing popular American songs.
Was Dean-O really that tanked, or was it just part of the act?
❤❤❤
