    On the first trick, with the stabiliser fin: I'm fairly certain the accuracy is actually 500% of original when inaccuracy is at 20%, not 80%

    1: Stick Stabilizer Fin Body on nose for high accuracy
    2: Use Grav. Compensator to increase range massively
    3: Use Timed Fuse, Skimmer Tip and Frag angled -90 degrees to have shell explode above target
    4: Use Frag warhead between HE warheads to split HE for Shaped charge and pure damage
    5: Use prefab to copy and paste in shell editor

    they really need to increase the shell life time for APS. It's so sad that all my long range artillery guns dont work because the shell despawns so fast :/

    My favorite thing to do with APS shells is make a 30m long ammo customizer, load the shell via direct input into a 500mm gun, and watch as a huge and frankly ridiculous javelin of a projectile slowly lumbers through the air to its target.

    Frankly I just put a sit tun of HE Warheads in them and then fire them from a rail-gun lol :D
    Edit: After fully watching your video I did get to the part where you explained that HE Warheads are ineffective after a certain point so I will be changing my tactics a little. :D

    Something interesting, you can feed ammo directly into a firing peice by putting an ammo input feeder on it.
    This means you can fire a shell that would normally take a 25 meter autoloader.

      Direct Feed like a breach loading super howitzer. Slow as molasses but may hit like a meteor.

    You have the reading of that backwards. I've used gravity compensators on shells from a space battleship, and they do not add any downforce when fired from space. They instead add a constant downforce equal to the gravity from which they are fired. This makes them essential for low-velocity mortar-type APS guns firing on high trajectories, but useless for even moderate-velocity space guns. The only way to maintain accuracy, I've found, firing space guns to the surface is just to use high-velocity rounds, around or in excess of 1200m/s.

      Yup, I've been told that. Their main practical use these days is to boost the range of shells more than a base bleeder does. 😛

    You can fire 20m shells with your beloved DIF guns, since they dont use autoloaders of a specific length. I once thought of having a bomber with a crapton of these, just dropping solid rods of explosives, flak, frag and emp...

      Yes, a number of people have mentioned DIF guns. Not the point of this video, since that's not a shell trick so much as a gun construction trick.
      DIF also guns have a x2 reloading penalty now, so a 500mm 20m shell is going to take literally half an hour or more to reload.

      I didn't have to do anything to highlight the mimic block. That's a new feature currently in DevTest that'll be moved to the stable branch soon.

    If people dont know you can create shotgun out of APS by:
    Selecting 2 or more barrels, having at least 10 autoloaders with or without clips attached, set max RPM (fire rate to MAX) all way down, be careful check with barrel rotation they shouldn't rotate if set correctly, then place rail part to your weapon at least one, and at least one charger somewhere on the weapon itself, the go to rail parameters of APS set rail power to 0.1% and saving power to 0.99% (don't put any power to accuracy buff !!!). Shells should be *GUNPOWDER* *ONLY* !!!
    What it should do: Then weapon fire it will ALWAYS fire 2-3-4-5-6 shell at once, accuracy is so good, it will meld with each other displacing only before hitting the target. Obvious prons is all say 6 shell hit at one point and with right shell configuration will penetrate VERY DEEP and will always penetrate or destroy armor and block behind it, also can FORCE DOWN shields even without EMP or DISRUPTOR shells. Can destroy small to medium targets in seconds.
    Cons are not consistent firerate, will require as many autos and clips as possible, eat ammo quick too.
    It is unique weapon, ive never seen used by anyone. HAVE FUN !!!

    Around the 15:00 mark, what would the point be of a skimtip+supercav for a surface ship? The supercav is useful for not having the shell slowed down in the water, which shouldn't happen because the skimtips keeps it on top. If you mean as a replacement to the skimtip to allow for different heads then yeah. That should be useful

    Hey borderwise. Try making a turret blast cover that actually moves with the gun aiming.
    (You use a spin block on the inside that is bound to move towards the current target).

    About deadly thumper medium missiles fired from large missile. Create large missile set it to cluster, connect 5 medium missiles to it set it to thumper head and some hull block TWO, then HE or FRAG or BOTH. Set it to release payload at 200-300 meters and watch (if done right how 5 medium thumpers go inside target and deal HORRIBLE inside damage to it).

    Note that the supposed "maximum range" is just the shell's velocity multiplied by its effective time, which is not the maximum range at all when you have high arching shells. A 154 m/s shell will, against a target at the same altitude, only have 2420 m of range, and take 22.2 s to travel there.

    one thing that has repeatedly frustrated me about the game is the effective flight time system. it means that a shell will never actually go to it's full range, and just Despawns after enough time has passed. but with a gravity compensator, I could probably get the flight time long enough to where it can actually hit something when fired at a 45 degree angle at 700 meters per second (the speed of most battleship caliber shells irl)

    with beltfeds you can set the autoloader reload to 2s, if you have enough loaders. for full sustained dakka and easy tetris (loader-clip-input). you forgot to mention the single input trick, loading a 40m shell into a single shot gun lol.

      Direct-Input guns are almost completely useless now thanks to their reloading penalty, especially since the first shot fired is the one most likely to miss. Also this guide was focused on shell customisation, not building the gun itself. 🙂

    133 mm APS shell is the longest shell you can create with 8 meter autoloader, stuff it with AP head 2-3 solid, frag-flak-he combo 10-20-30 and pen depth 30-30, timed fuse set to 60 and whatever propellant you need gunpowder or rails, reloading a bit slow, but sheer damage potential and comic quality of firing electric poles is a MUST HAVE
    (Pssst) You can go to game mods find APS and play with stuff, you want ACTUAL RAILGUN ? Made acceleration increase of barrel by 1, and your shells will have E251 speed without any power and 1 gunpowder. Tired of finding space for 2-4-8 meter autoloaders ? Made 1 meter autoloaders except 100 meter shells and all done. Don't worry if you want your vanilla stuff back just reload the game or change it's current version game will update-back automaticly. Oh, and you can made secondary weapons custom shells 200 meters wide : ) Play nice, or not....

    Little tip about CRAM: If you want tow CRAM one one turret quick and without extensive tetris do next, create first CRAM from eighter side NOT CENTER !!! Isolate turret center with armor, then prefab your cram and just rotate it 180%, VOILA you have DOUBLE CRAM without tetris and it look like ing and yang (somewhat at least).
    Next tip if you want to kill KINGSTEAD with ONE. SINGLE. CRAM. SHOT. All you need is CRAM cannon set to 2 meter gauge (THE MAX GAUGE) then UNEVEN set of HE pellets and HEAVY pellets, HE pellets should be for 10 to whoever you want, but HEAVY always should be by 5 less, with any configuration. Then this will be done, you NEED FUSE BLOCK !!! In FUSE you need penetration depth and\or (altitude fuse, setting altitude fuse to -1,2,3 will ensure your minibuses wont just sink after penetrating huge hulls), set both parameters to 30 (the max one, max depth and max time after first block all set to 30 !!!). All is left is to find\spawn kingstead and fire center mass, (strongly recommend follow shells with slow-mo to observe all beauty of carnage), shells will go inside kingstead and will detonate deep inside, even with one shell fired ONE SHOT PROBABILITY 50-50% !!!

    What is the parameters for the aps customizer to autoloader size, like if you have a 5 long autoloader, can you only have 5 parts on the shell?

    You can made ROTATING GATLING LASER with:
    Any one axis turret, elevation only turret, spin block. You need to place laser transciever on multilaser then, place one axis turret above it, then elevation only turret, then place laser trasciever facing back (to do that place any block and then replace it with transciever holding (Left Shift key), if done right it will tell you it's connected, then you need place some (any block) to same elevation only turret infront of transciever facing forward, and then place spin block on that block, place transciever facing backwards then connect it to laser coupler then connect other four so you have 5 laser couplers on spin block then, place 5 laser combiners on top of each one, then add some laser optics\steering optics don't matter, job is done you get your (oh wait, you need to made spinblock spin via ACB or direct control via Q button on spin block set it to continues and choose rotation speed), ROTATING GATLING LASER !!! For reference blueprint search "Weapon Testing" in STEAM WORKSHOP

      With railguns, yes. Or with a shitton of cooling. You basically ignore the reload speed of the autoloaders and set the fire rate to maximum. The burst size is the amount of autoloaders and the time between each burst is the reload time of one autoloader. If the cooling limit is really low its a really short burst of all autoloaders emptying their loaded shell and no gunpowder means no cooling, so its really easy with railguns.
      You can still trust the numbers on the firing piece for recharge rate, because thats the average recharge rates you will need, but because you fire in bursts you need buffers. Basically you need a buffer of rail charge (barrel magnet improves that) and recoil absorbtion big enough for the burst and the recharge time (railgun charger improves that, absorbers give both, buffer and recharge rate) for both must be faster than the next burst. If you keep recoil absorbtion low you have a nice spread effect (and a smaller cheaper gun).
      This is especialy fun with 333mm belt blasters. 1 belt fed loader with a mag and 4 ammo inputs. At 333mm 3 shells fit into the rack, 1 into the loader so with 4 input feaders they are all reloaded at once, when the mag is empty (which means reload time for the whole clip is the reload time of the autoloader, so the beltfed autoloader behaves like a really fast autoloader).
      Just 2He + squash head or HEAT head at 1000 rail charge is pretty neet. The guns are tiny with short bursts or have a really strong burst if they are bigger(not recommended though). It is important that no more than 3 shells fit into the rack, because you need x+1 input feeders for x spaces in the rack and with 4 input feeders the tetris is really simple (just a 2*3 rectangle, loader + clip in the middle, feeders on the sides) and autoloaders connect to autoloaders.

      You can also use multiple guns in a turret and ACB timers to alternate between each firing piece beeing enabled to decrease the time between each burst.

    I have a tip for everyone, anyone who uses a railgun without using APHE shells is a heretic and a fool because of just how much APHE power even small and low power shells can get, I've witnessed mere 4meter shell high caliber (at least by my standards) 317.5mm guns obtain over 80AP, which is far more than enough to overpierce and obliterate turrets, I've even seen it tear through a Bulwark completely without detonating due to my own mistake where I bungled the pendepth fuse's timing

      Good points... but have you seen what the HP railguns on the Megalodon can do? Short of covering your entire craft in rubber or rams, there's no stopping them.
