I was today years old when I learned how skirting board was made ! Love it 👏🏻👏🏻
This is about as DIY as your average NASA program! Very interesting to see how this is done using professional workshop tools compared to my Trend router and table though.
That’s what it’s all about, tools do the work. Men work the tools!
I was ready to say about the expensive machines as pals say below , but I did make them with cheaper bits and plunge router. Thanks for the tutorial.
Glad you enjoyed my video.

Nice demonstration of the shaper. This can also be done on a molder/planer such as Shop Fox W1812, Williams & Halsey, etc, etc. may have got the last name incorrect. Again nice video. I have both a shaper and and molder planer and use the shaper for doors both cabinet and entry, interior. My molder does all the case work, crown, railing profiles
I don’t have these tools available but interesting to see how they are made
Great video.
Clearly few DIYers have access to these tools. That said it is great to see the bridging of a professional craftsman to the DIY space. The pros scoff at DIY and I think you having a foot in both camps brings a lot to DIY space. Thanks appreciated.
David Ramsay Thanks for that great comment. I try to help diyers and also show how I make things. Some criticise saying diyers don't have access to these machines but when I was an apprentice I would have loved videos like these so I could learn more without asking. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Spend Time, Save Money, DIY Thereare a lot of bone headed people that are somewhat narrow minded. You will have a broad audience and some will not get it or feel compelled to continuously write negative comments, thick skin needed at times and keep in mind there are a lot of very positive comments to your knowledge and skill sharing with concise videos that are easy to follow. I have learned a few more things from your skirting videos and now feel confident to have a go on my job so I am grateful to you putting in the effort to share what has clearly been well understood and practiced by you. That you show folks how to do things if the don't have the power tools is great, I do but really like to see the traditional way, can't say my saw skill is anywhere near yours so guessing you are a chippy to trade.
David Ramsay I am a traditional cabinetmaker by trade and I am also a joiner. Doing these videos I have had to develop a thick skin, lots of negativity out there especially from electricians for some reason.
Good luck with your skirting boards 👍🏼
I mean I just bought an old craftsman shaper for a couple hundred. Idk if I am a diyer but that tool is mostly for personal use. So you may not have a shaper but that's a choice lol
I love how the fun music makes it look soo much easier lol
R.M.V.P Studios ha I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Imagine doing that shit 100 years ago
nice set of those tools
Thank you, glad you liked them.

The prep involved to sand and prime custom milled trim is huge! You have to sand all the machine marks out first . Then 2-3 coats of primer sanding in between coats.
Let alone putting a finish coat on it….
Nice
Thank you 👍🏼
Hi - was that a custom ground knife or is the profile one that is commonly available? I had a look through the CMT series but didn't see it. I assumed it was a 50mm knife but it's hard to tell - I didn't check any 60mm profiles. Thanks
justcruisin109 it's a standard profile. I think it's from Whitehill or Axminster uk. Thanks for watching and be sure to like share and subscribe to help the channel grow 👍🏼
Awesome job cutting the baseboards but painting them the same colour as the walls make them blend in your work goes unnoticed. Paint them gloss white with oil based paint and they will stand out and show case your work!
Simon Inga Thanks for your comment. The skirting boards are painted satin white and the walls are a light grey but the picture isn't the best.

very nice.
may i know what brand and model is your shaper?
thx
brodd J Thanks, it is a Felder tilting spindle moulder/shaper. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Hello. Could you please be so kind and help me one Information? I saw the video and I would like to buy the milling cutter that you used în the video. Could you plese tell me from where could I buy them?
Thank you!
adrian virtop Hi, I buy my cutters from a company in the UK called whitehill. Here's a link to the website. It's cutter number 29. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
www.whitehill-tools.com/catalogue.php?cid=1&c2id=49
Hi, where from you get your cutters for skirting profiles?
Thank you
Alex
I get them from either Axminster power tools or whitehill. These were from Whitehill 👍🏼
What speed was the cutter running at and what type of MDF?
The cutters were running at about 6000rpm and it was just standard mdf although moisture resistant would have been better.

@@spendtimesavemoneydiy Will do! Any recommendations for cutter tooling to make sash windows?
What shaper are you using here
Felder f900
$30k in tools to make $30 dollars worth of trim..... yep, sounds like me
djconline Ha I work as a machinist in a college so I have access to great machines!
Surely no one would ever make MDF skirting? You’d end up with 2.4m lengths of it with joins all over the place.
Chris B it works out more cost effective for me to make mdf skirting in 2.4m lengths. Joining it is fairly simple and done properly is virtually invisible! Thanks for watching 👍🏼
you can get it in 4.2m lengths
Desmond Robinson yeah, it’s primed MRMDF too. Save a few hours of sanding/painting.
the music was torture
Sorry about that. RUclips messed about with it due to copyright infringement.

Whats the point of showing people how to build things using the equipment that the average person does not own nor will they have access to.
Mav Div to show them how things are made! They don't have to watch if they don't want to!
I’m an average guy that’s just bought a very similar machine
Dougie Ferguson it's my favourite machine! They are so versatile! And great fun to play on 👍🏼
@@spendtimesavemoneydiy
I just bought the Felder profil 45 x motion
great fun machine
GLEN CHRISTENSEN have fun my friend, great machines 👍🏼
