- The Bible says that Jesus Christ descended into the lower parts of the earth when He was buried in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights. Why did He go to the lower parts of the earth? Did He go to Hell and to other places in the underworld? What does the Bible say about this?

Good day pastor, I'm an 22 years old who preaches the gospel and I got this revelation concerning Jesus death burial and resurrection when I was 21 through the scriptures. I've always been timid to preach it because I've never seen anyone else preach it that way. But seeing your video on the subject really ignites courage in me to go right ahead and preach it.

Wow! Thank you. I have read these scriptures so many times and I never thought about what they meant. O Lord! You were not joking when you said, "study to show thyself approved unto God". I was so busy telling people that Jesus never went to hell but I'm doing better where studying the scriptures is concerned
problem is if Jesus didnt go to hell then he didnt truly suffer (hell is ultimate suffering) which means the lesser pain he suffered on earth wasnt enough to atone for all of mankind's sin
It is said that the soul that sin it shall die. Jesus did not sin that is why Hell can't contain Him. Jesus Being the lamb of God was offered as a burnt offering. The worst of hell happened at the cross, of which no sufferings could be greater than that. It is evil that demanded the payment of death not the wrath of God. It was on the cross that the love of God was satisfied not His wrath. Jesus ministered to the dead by setting them free. Jesus conquered death for us...

Jesus could not have be buried on Friday. If Jesus was was in the ground three whole days and three whole nights, Jesus would have to be buried on Wednesday.

This guy's a great expositor. Could listen to him for hours. I'm not sure about this business of Jesus "dumping" our sins into Hell. He didn't provide a proof text for this just a rationalization, something like "what else would Jesus be doing in Hell". What if the Bible uses the word "Hell" for both Paradise and hellfire? When David said "thou wilt not leave my soul in hell", I know that's a prophecy concerning Christ, but David DID write it. Was he planning on burning in hell and getting out sometime later? So maybe Abraham's Bosom is a part of Hell. Thoughts, anyone?

The heart of the earth is called "the lower parts of the earth" (Eph. 4:9) and Hades (Acts 2:27), where the Lord went after His death. Hades, equal to Sheol in the Old Testament (see note Matt. 11:23^1d), has two sections, the section of torment and the section of comfort (Luke 16:23-26). The section of comfort is Paradise, where the Lord went with the saved thief after they died on the cross (Luke 23:43). Hence, heart of the earth, lower parts of the earth, Hades, and Paradise are synonymous terms, referring to the place where the Lord stayed for three days and three nights after His death and before His resurrection.

He is in error about the soul, spirit and soul and also about Jesus being in what is perceived as an ever- burning fire. Hell is just the grave or sometimes called hades. Jesus did not go to heaven after his recurrection , remember he told Mary not to touch him as he had NOT ascended to his God, her God, his father and her father. Do you not read your Bible.???

1st Observation:
Samuel was in Paradise and Saul cannot go to Paradise... Because Saul went to hell.
1 Chronicle 10:13
So Saul died for his unfaithfulness which he had [d]committed against the Lord, because he did not keep the word of the Lord, and also because he consulted a medium for guidance.
If that is the case, then how can Samuel can say that "And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me"
1 Samuel 28:19 --- 19 Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines. And tomorrow you and your sons will be with me.

Your explanation that you can back up with Bible passages is right on, but when you go off citing your own theories not supported by scripture you fall away from God and His teachings. Stick to what you can support with scripture. Let the Bible speak for itself.

Acts 2:27, the original Greek uses the term haden or Hades. Death and Hades and anyone whose name was not written in the book of life are thrown into the lake of fire in Revelation 20:14-15. I’m not sure anyone but the devil, the beast and the false prophet (Revelation 20:10) was actually thrown into this lake of fire before they were. I think the issue with KJV in this case is calling Hades Hell. That may cause some confusion.
Good presentation, but I think you err by stating flaming hell and Hades are the same. My understanding is that Sheol is the Hebrew name for flameless Hades, where the souls of both saved and unsaved are kept: the saved resurrected to the first judgment, the unsaved to the Great White throne judgment. But important to note is the following:
Those who died BEFORE Christ's ministry on earth were addressed by Jesus during the three days in Hades. So no man can say he had no opportunity to choose between Christ and self.
Of course, in this dispensation, AFTER Jesus rose from the dead, no second chance exists.
What complicates the subject is that no time exists in the spiritual domain, hence all those who died in Christ are resurrected simultaneously: but facing God in the first judgment, we will stand BEHIND the likes of Adam and Moses (1Thess.4).
This portrayal harmonizes with all related Bible passages. And when is the first resurrection (of the saved)? Less than a moment before the rapture. Only with the understanding the no time exists in eternity, which is the antithesis of time.
Those who apply the finitude of time into eternity end up with all kinds of heresies, such as praying to the dead and engaging in superstition (and chicanery of fake tears on statues) and blasphemous apparitions, as if God lied in Rom. 2:11.
Jesus continued His evangelical ministry for three days in Sheol, and nobody in history will be able to say they never received an opportunity to accept Jesus.
As for sin cast into hell, I doubt sin is combustible: it is not matter but a reckoning that separates man from God.
What about the verse that says "no one had ascended but He who descended"? How is it that people are going to heaven then?
So thats what Jesus did with our sin, we have to thank him every day.........

I am confused: you said the Spirit ascends and goes back to God almighty regardless of what they have done because God almighty gives and takes life. So why now are there spirits in prison of hell? Please clarify. Thank you.
If you watch carefully, i have already clarified this in the video or so I thought. Let me briefly explain. The spirits that go back to God are human spirits Ecclesiastes 12:7. The spirits in prison are evil spirits which are disembodied and are the ones who possess human beings. Evil spirits did not come from God and do not go back to God.
How many Old Testament saints was released from underground "paradise"? 500 only?
I need clarification regarding those who died and went to hell fire. Were they never given an opportunity to repent? Didn't the LORD Jesus Christ give them an opportunity to repent since they never knew the LORD or GOD.
Well, every man is given an opportunity to believe.
Pastor you said Jesus was crucified on Wednesday, if so then what do you mean between Good Friday and Easter?
Another thing is, since the spirit of Unsaved man goes to God at death, Only the soul goes to hell?
Will that not be incomplete?
When a saved person dies, his spirit and soul goes to heaven and in the resurrection his spirit and soul will be reunited with his resurrected new body and lives forever with God/Jesus.!
What about the spirit of the lost person then?
Does the lost person's soul reunites with his resurrected body after the White Throne Judgement and then thrown into the Lake of Fire?

Wonderful lesson. The Question is.. Did Jesus then bring the Theif to Heaven? Which means Paradise was relocated to the third Heaven and not entirely empty.
I believe what is meant is that Paradise/Abraham's bossom was "sent" up to the 3rd heaven (with everyone in it)...so Paradise/Abraham's bossom is no longer in hell. I see the confusion because he made it sound as if "only the inhabitants of Paradise" were caught up to Heaven leaving Paradise empty in hell..
Paradise, I believe, is merely the Kingdom of God. Jesus did not take the thief anywhere. Jesus did not ascend to heaven after God delivered him from the grave...hell... shoel, ....just a hole in the grave without a body. He walked the earth for 40 days before he ascended to the right hand of God.

Easy to discover the awesome geological science from whence did Christ resurrect? Jonah 2:6 I went down to the bottoms of the mountains (miles deeper into the molten mass); Jonah 2:6 I (My Spirit) went down to (Hell) or (into the fiery molten mass) at the bottoms of the mountains. A “mountain” is like an Iceberg over 90 percent deeper in land mass that is floating deeper over 90 percent into the hot molten lava. Eph 4:9 Paul said the spirit of Christ resurrects (Matthew 12:38-40 “like the spirit of Jonah” the spirit of Christ resurrects from out of hell) from out of the deepest parts of the hot fiery molten earth. The body of Christ resurrects from the tomb when the spirit of Christ rejoins his body that God has made whole. How did Jonah or Paul know the math and the geology that the mountains were miles deeper into the molten earth? They didn’t but the Holy Spirit revealed it to them.

We are a living SOUL. Oxygen carries the blood throughout the body. Scriptures state that Life is in the blood. Our spirit is our MIND - our brain!! Cut off the oxygen going to the brain and one dies or is declared brain dead. Our hearts, spleen or kidneys CANNOT think for us - only the brain dictates our decisions, personalities, choices, sadness etc etc!!! WE are a Living Soul, animals are souls also. Drain a person's blood or cut off the oxygen (breath of Life) and one is dead!!!

I honestly haven’t seen any strict evidence. Now obviously which ever way you believe won’t matter to God cuz all that matters is your saved. The understanding of the stuff that’s not spelled out is not where your salvation lies. That’s in the death and resurrection. But keep reading in Ephesians and it almost seems like the “descend” is just talking about him coming to earth and thru his death freeing captives to sin. The gift he left was the Holy Spirit. I would say instill Occam‘s razor into this (keep it simple stupid) and just keep to what is obviously there. Not try to over interpret :) god blessssss!!!!

The spirit does not KEEP a person alive! The breath of life keeps one alive. Jesus' spirit is WHO he was. A living soul is one who has the breath of life (oxygen) within him. So many Christians have been so mislead via the soul, spirit and body.

Why is hell so awful?
One, it was created for satan and his demons.
Secondly, because people don't realize that hell is the absence
of God.
There's no air in hell…because God is a
breath of life.

There is no love in hell…because God is love.
Hell is darkness…because God is the light.
You don't have to go there!

[1]Nowhere does the Bible say Paradise is in the underworld.
Paradise [Greek Paradeisos] is only mentioned 3 times in the New Testament and it's Heaven.
[2]Neither Jesus or the repented thief went to Heaven that day.
[3]What is in the underworld, Is Hades, Tartarus, Gehenna and Kolpos, [Abraham's bosom]. NO PARADISE.
[4]The repentant thief went to Abraham's bosom, "Kolpos" and Jesus went to Hell, "Hades", See Acts 2: 27--31 wit Lk 16: 23--25, They are the same place. A place where Jesus suffered pains, Acts 2: 24. God didn't loose Jesus from the pains of physical death, HE DIED, In agony.
But God did lose Jesus from the pains of Spiritual death and Hell, "Hades".
Jesus took our sins, and the wages of sin is is spiritual death. Rom 6: 23, Eph 2: 1, &v5. Eph 2: 12 tells us what spiritual death is, [Without God]. And Jesus was without God when He cried out, "My God why have you forsaken Me"
Both the Hebrew for, "Forsaken" in Ps 22: 1 And the Greek for it in Mt 27: 36 Mk 15: 34, Are, "To Forsake, To leave, To Abandon", So you cab see that Jesus was without God, which is Spiritual death.
And the wages of Spiritual death is, Hell "Hades".
Then Just before Jesus rose from the dead, He first was raised up from Spiritual death. 1 Pet 3: 18, then He left Hades and went to Tartarus, to proclaim His victory over Spiritual death and Hell to the fallen angels. Then Jesus went into Abraham's bosom to preach the gospel to those who were in their. 1 Pet 4: 6.
Then Jesus went up and back into His body which was then raised up.
Your belief on the day Jesus was crucified and Him not going to Hell to suffer pains, is so so wrong.
The Bible makes it clear enough that Jesus was crucified on a Friday, Yet you take ONE out of context scripture, Mt 12: 4 and you reject the NINETEEN scriptures that say Jesus rose on the 3rd day.
You Cannot get the 3rd day from a Wednesday to a Sunday.

Dr. Allen, you are insisting Paradise was not in hell or the underworld at one point. How do you account for Jesus telling the thief on the cross"..today you will be with me in paradise"? [Today meaning that same day.] Paradise could only either be in Heaven or hell. When Jesus rose on the "3rd Day", he told Mary don't touch me for I HAVE NOT YET ASCENDED TO MY FATHER. So Paradise (Abraham's bossom) couldn't have been in Heaven yet because it clearly states Jesus had not yet ascended..
Secondly, you say Jesus suffered in hell. I respectfully disagree. Jesus's famous last words on the cross in John 19 was "It Is Finished." He didn't need to "also suffer in hell". That is like saying what He did for us on the cross wasn't enough..
Oh my God....where on earth did you come by your reasoning?? Jesus died at 3:00 pm when the passover lambs were slain,,,as he was our Passover lamb. He died at 3:00 pm when the passover lambs were killed which was on Wednesday the 14th of Nisan a day before the Passover feast and seven days of unleavened bread was to be observed. The feast continued until sunset on the 15th Passover on a thursday, Jesus died on Wednesday. Their days began at sundown approx 6:oo pm. There was NO Friday crufixion it is just tradition and bad math.

Hell is just the grave, hades or shouel . This guy is soooooo wrong. God was NOT going to leave his son in the grave. He resurrected Jesus or he would have decayed just as any other person who dies.!

The heart of the earth is NOT the grave! The heart of the earth is where the unsaved souls go. There are different compartments in the heart of the earth. There was Paradise and also Hell. Eden was taken down to the lower parts of the earth after the fall of man aka paradise . Reference to this can be found in Ezekiel 31 vs 16.
