To the thousands of your fellow Australians who answered the cry of anguish from my homeland on Sept 11, 2001 Thank You.To the families and mates of the 41 who never saw their homeland again.. Thank you will never be enough for they shed their blood in defense of MY home and family. My gratitude and my prayers go with them.
I'm not even Australian and this is one of the most nostalgic songs I have heard. I remember singing this in primary... This is so beautiful.
we are Australian and proud but only being one makes sense..... Australian is a lifestyle and not many will understand our songs but we love and respect our fallen from all wars. Australian spirit will live on forever!!

My wife, Tasha, is Australian, born and bred New South Wales. Each time I play this, you can see how proud she is. Wish those of us here in the UK had such pride as we once had. Where has it gone?
I may not be an Australian but I love this. We all need to be proud of our roots and of our country, wherever that may be.
I remember singing this song in prep in primary school, It makes me proud to be an Australian army cadet :)

As an old soldier, now retired this sure raises the hair on the back of my neck. You are right Ghastly it should be our national anthem. Imagine this being sung at the Olympics
+Peter Hay not only as a Soldier, I'm an Airman as well. I'm pretty sure Seamen as well as all Australians would rather this as the national anthem.
I don't know if it works as an anthem. As an American, I would favorably compare this with the Lee Greenwood hit, "God Bless the USA" in that neither is really an anthem, but both capture the spirit of the respective countries. I enjoy hearing this, especially when Bruce Woodley sings his creation.
