It's rare for an Aussie not to be mover to tears and an overwhelming love of home. This beautiful, big, wide, brown land is in every pore. She consumes you. Her magic is undeniable. She is so wild and beautiful. No matter where we are, here or away across the world, she has us in her grip, and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can beat heading home.
Ian, you'll see, and when you leave, a part of you will always be here. Her pull is powerful.

Yeah . My dad took me on a once in a lifetime trip to Rome 🏟⚔️🍝 , having stayed with him for most of my holiday in Norway and Sweden ( with his side of the family ) before heading back to Sydney🇦🇺 . I'm sure we're 💯% in agreement that the late great Peter Allen ( who was the songwriter for this song ) was an excellent songwriter . IF every country on earth had their national anthem ( this isn't officially Australia's national anthem sadly by the way ) written by somebody as talented in songwriting as him - then we'd ALL emphasise with each-other's culture and people . Second best option for Australia to get a new anthem with this feeling when it becomes a Republic is it written by singer songwriter John Farnham . ♑️✍️

James, my daughter got an invitation to join the Victorian State Children’s Choir and the Australian Children’s Choir in the same week. She told me to tell them she was busy at school and I was a bit disappointed but it was always her choice. She already belonged to The Australian Broadway Chorus world touring group in Triple Threat. She wouldn’t go with them either. She did perform with them in Australia. She was such a serious soul who always put school first. I wish she had taught the others to be like her. If I had been asked as child to sing and travel I would have gone but I can’t sing. Your daughter was lucky to have that experience.

@@karenstrong8887 Ur daughter sounds like an extremely mature young lady. I coach/mentor kids between the ages of 12-18 for their national umpiring badges in my association on the NSW Centy Coast. I tell each & everyone of them that joins my program that
#1 school is most important & always comes first
      #2 work always comes next
      #3 umpiring comes last.
Umpiring will always be around & there's no set age limit to get ur national badge, whether ur 12 or 112 years old, school won't be & work is important for social skills but also for a little bit of money. They always think they let me down when they ring me to say they are unavailable at a certain time & apologise profusely, i never allow them to apologise, it's just netball, a social fun comp every Saturday (altho some teams play like they are playing for Straya 🙄). In saying that, the advice i give the kids in year 10, year 11 & year 12 with their HSC studies is that they just can't study 24/7, they need an outlet otherwise the stress will become to enormous on their little shoulders. Ur daughters outlet for singing is perfect as she has something else to concentrate on at that time & not worrying about missing out on studying

My grandfather was in the navy, and he told me two very moving story's while aboard the HMAS Melbourne R21
One story was during a mid sea collision with a us destroyer ultimately cutting it in half and sinking it within seconds several Australians jumped into the water to help the men still on the aft of the ship.
And one American came up to granddad's mate hugged him and said
"You are fucking mad, but we owe you one"
And the other one was during training runs he got to meet the crew from the USS Canberra a Baltimore class cruiser (edit, that was the WW2 fitting it was during granddads service called a Boston class missile cruiser, learn something new every day haha. Was refitted in the 50s ) that was renamed after our capital ship that you guys had to scuttle at savo island after taking heavy damages
And as he said the relationship between the Australian and american navy is that close that the crews just mingle as one and other then the accents you wouldn't know who was who 🤣

I think it pulls us all together regardless of our origins, and is the true source of our "Aussie Spirit." In 1993, the International Year of the World's Indigenous People, I attended an International Midwives Conference in Adelaide. Two aboriginal women travelled from near the Alice to share with the females at the conference some of their women's business relating to birth. It was one of the most empowering moments of my life. I still feel tearful and honoured that they shared part of their story with us as midwives.

There is an unbelievable sense of warmth and pride that sweeps over many Australian's when they are leaving overseas to return to Australia and they see the tail of a Qantas plane at the airport. It's extremely comforting. 🤗 All homesickness is swept away when you hear the Aussie accents of the crew and finally as you approach the coastline after many hours of pure ocean and you look out the plane window and finally see that vast island/continent and endless coast realising that it is ours and ours alone. Very special.

Thanks Elliott. I was trying to think of the words to describe what the song means to us and I think you summed it well. I think we feel the same about Land down under by Men at work and Your the voice and all those so called Aussie anthems. It seems the whole nation shares the same sentiment which possibly doesn't happen in other cultures as they often seem quite divided. I can't speak for our indigenous people of course as they have reason to view things differently. Sorry if my generalizations offend anyone. It was great to see Ian's raw emotion I think it took him by surprise but it shows what a connection he has created with a bunch of strangers on the other side of the world.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say, Ian I think you understand what it means to be Australian. Patriotism is not to a flag, a Political ideology or even a country as that is simply a name. Patriotism is about respect for the land on which you live, your family and your fellow citizens. Respect for the fact we are all brothers and sisters living in one place trying to make the best of it. Though Australia is far from perfect, it is always my hope that we as a people, will continue to work toward making this place we call home, a better place. A place that other people of the world would like to replicate.

His misses had been calling him alll day are you done when you coming home and after 8 hours of helping my son moove, He sent her that text and she lost it. but we all laughed and thought it was funny

As always, by the end of this video clip, I had tears pouring down my face and my heart full. Peter Allen sure knew how to write songs that tugged on the heart strings. And your reaction to this song really added to how I was feeling. I just love the way you and your family have embraced Australia and New Zealand. Thank you so much. It does mean alot. And I have loved visiting my friends in the US too. I have seen some wonderful places and met some truly amazing people on my travels over there. I am descendant from an Irish convict, a first Australian from the Jingilli tribe of the Northern Territory, a digger who was at Gallipoli and my father was a Rat of Tobruk in WW2 so the song I am, you are, we are Australian is the only other song that can make me tear up like I Still Call Australia Home. I would love you to have a listen to it.

@@IWrocker Hi Ian. There are many videos of the song I am, You are, We are Australian. The one I gave you before is one, but this one is my absolute favourite and my US friends agree that this one is their fave too. I hope you will check it out and let me know what you think. Your emotional reaction to the song I Still Call Australia Home truly moved me to tears and made my heart fill with emotions of love, pride and gratitude that I can always call Australia my 'home'. ruclips.net/video/BVUU68X6F5g/видео.html

The ANZAC soldiers are not to be taken lightly.

I loved your reaction. Thank you for sharing. I'm 71 and still shed tears, especially when overseas. QANTAS stand Queensland And Northern Territory Air Service, a small airline that started servicing local people in Queensland and the Northern Territory before becoming national taking Aussies all over Australia and then the world. This song and Waltzing Matilda are our two tear-jerkers when overseas. We get so homesick. In peace and friendship, thank you.

This song, and “We are Australian” by The Seekers, are some of the most patriotic songs we have. I personally think “We are Australian” should be our National Anthem. Also, not sure you noticed, they had some famous Aussie cameos in this video, Hugh Jackman and Kylie Minogue and Troye Sivan. Would love for you to check out some Kylie music 😊😊😊

One thing Aussies are, is sentimental when it comes to the pride and love of our country. It pulls on the heart strings every time. Qantas have been putting out ads like this for years. They’re truly beautiful and show Australia and Australians as they are. Ian thank you and you’re wonderful family for sharing your lives and your love for everything Australian. What you have witnessed is what kind of people we are. I don’t think too many people out of Australia get to experience that. We always look out for our mates near and far. Your reaction just shows we aren’t that different and how much you care. Keep up the awesome work. I most certainly am proud of you and enjoy the content.

Mate, your genuine reaction to this really hit me in the feels. You've definitely been infected by the Aussie spirit. QANTAS have been doing this ad since the late 90s, and have remade it a number of times since (this version was released a few days ago. It was actually all filmed pre-COVID but understandably so had to be put on ice for the last two years). I've put the link to the original ad below. It was at the time, and I think still is, the most expensive ad that has ever been made here and amongst the most expensive in the world. QANTAS actually flew the entire Australian Girls chior and National Boys choir, and their families, to all of the locations around the world to film this.
But the thing that is really important to me and many others, whenever I travel overseas for work, I always try and fly QANTAS home. They play this ad on the plane as you're flying home, and I can tell you, my eyes are never dry by the end of it, and neither are those of most of the rest of the passengers (and a few crew too that I've seen over the years). The words of the late great Peter Allen in this song just resonate with us so much, and now with you too. Thanks for your reaction, it means a lot to us.
Here is (as far as I can tell) the first version of this ad from the late 90s. ruclips.net/video/hbGuqmaDgLA/видео.html
