Still reduces me to tears after all these years. Breathtakingly gorgeous.
Me, too and I watch it over and over sometimes. I still can't better Itzhak Perlman's performances though. He's the ultimate violinist for me.
You get sentimental when you hear it without seeing the film, you cry when you’ve seen it and know where that music has been
Many people would cry with her after watching this video. Anne-Sophie Mutter sings with pure emotion. I respect her very much from the old days.
Beautiful, soulful music to a heartbreaking movie. Such is life.
Wow, the fact that she was able to perform and meet John Williams is a huge honor! As a composer/conductor applying for a Master's in Film Scoring, it is a dream of mine to meet Mr. John Williams. Anne-Sophie did so well not only playing the music, but interpreting the solo and bringing her own emotions into the solo.
You do realize that Anne-Sophie Mutter is a world class violinist who's played with the best orchestras in the world for decades now? Your comment makes it sound like she's a small town talent who lucked into a one-time meeting with a famous composer!
@@Finians_Mancave, that was not my intention. I feel ANYONE who plays for John Williams is a huge honor. This isn't taking away their talents, but rather, recognizing John Williams for his level of composing and conducting.
Its truely beautiful. I cant stop playing this song in my vinyl record
Good Lord that was beautiful!
One of the most wonderful and teardropping violin themes ever written. And absolotely lovely played by Anne-Sophie.
& she still has this #sparkle and excitement in her eyes! Absolute class!!!
This song is so beautiful.
When I need to cry my eyes out, I come back to this video... oh my goodness, never fails to touch my soul... there is a healing power in music
Beautiful I could listen forever.
I like the sound of Mutter's violin. With this heartwrenching piece, there is almost a desperation for a most divine instrument.
John Williams - such a genius!
The woman is so talented and so very beautiful also.....
Amazing, amazing. Amazing!
Wow. So great.
Extraordinary.
Fortunate to have seen them both perform this with tbt San Francisco Symphony on February 14, 2023. Just last week too. 👏🏻
A master class on transcribing human emotions with sound. Pure. Sublime. Eternal. ❤️👏🏻
My heart is crying
Herzzereißend schön.
Boa noite 🙏🏻🙏🙏🕊️🙏... parabéns
Along with "Remembrances," this is a glance backward at a crime we'll probably never get our minds and hearts around. The violin, and dear Ms. Mutter's play, seem made for this heart-breaking homage. And, I must say, it reminds us of the tragedies in Ukraine in our current crisis. I pray that art can bring solace and understanding in the present, too, not only in retrospect.
CBS Sunday Morning, I am hoping you can interview John Williams about him writing his final Star Wars score. John Williams deserves a little love for his work on the nine films.
Amazing!
GOD bless you all my dear Israel brother and sister
😭
No one plays it like itzhak perlman

The reason for me to come to Anne-Sophie Mutter's music after watching CBS's Sunday Morning when they interview John Williams's works and heard Mutter played the theme of Schindler's List in the recording with the Stradivarius, but when I listened to the actual audio from CD, oh man! what a disappointment! when playing the highest note she hit flat right out at (:32"). I thought there is something wrong with my ear so I had to turn back to Itzhak Perlman for comparison and I was right. How come the engineer let her passed so easily without redoing the piece? time constraint or she just can't do it? I planed to buy the CD for my violist friend as a gift but had to cancel. The sound of the Stradivarius is beautiful though but her playing is still under par Itzhak Perlman.
Her intonation is seriously lacking more of the time than one would wish in general, but she is considered supreme because of her visionary, artistic interpretations of each work. It really is something of a shame. There's no sense in muddying the violin repertoire with clearly bad intonation for the sake of a certain sound for a passage.
which note? the high notes sound fine to my ears and I'm a classical musician. Perlman's version is the original one, but in fact he is out of tune there quite a bit. I like this one better. Both violinists are unique, both versions are great in their own way.
The arrogance of some people like this person never ceases to amaze me. I guess we are supposed to be impressed with these comments. Sad
She’s amazing but I feel it’s rushed :/
well - the composer was right there conducting....
it's a lot of pain on this violin... omg
Himmlische Anne-Sophie Mutter- Aber soll man Anne-Sophie Mutter frei lassen spielen !
Katica does it better
Cada músico hace lo que puede. Si te gusta Katica, escúchala a ella y así no te amargas tu existencia
itzhak perlman
Good playing, but she doesn’t play like a Jew.
No. She doesn't have to. She is entitled to her interpretation. She has played it also beautifully.
Play like a jew?
@@shhtha she played it with a different approach...
Musically speaking she is excellent
@@cipheraltura2202 Still have no idea what you're trying to say..? Race has nothing to do with it
@@shhtha it always has sir.
