This coming Friday when I do my prep or pantry hall I have no these are a lot of people who want to prep but they don’t have the money they said because of groceries I’m gonna actually add your channel into my video this week so they can come over here and they can watch you I’m very impressed with what you’re making and how well you can feed yourself and such a little per week but I think your channel needs to reach a lot more people because what you’re doing is absolutely amazing
Wow! Thank you for your feedback! It’s daunting at first but if you just add a little bit every week I think it’s possible to have a fair sized kitchen pantry over time! It’s slow though, even after 8 weeks I’m missing quite a few things that I normally enjoy. It’s giving me an excellent idea of what to donate to food banks! Thanks for continuing to watch!
My mom used to make potato soup with the hashbrowns. Boil in water or chicken broth, add some milk to the water when hashbrowns are thawed, add cheese, seasoning, and bacon crumbles or cooked sausage. Loving these videos!
Thanks for keeping going with the challenge I think your doing it helps us people that live in countries that are expensive for groceries, I like that you think out of the box, well done!
Enjoying the videos, thanks for doing a Canadian version! Pretty sure you can find the same container as your paprika in cinnamon form at the buck store for your oatmeal 🙂👍
Good on you for thinking to turn the hash browns into mashed potatoes, I like when you take a chance on something and it works out. :) Lots of comfort food types of meals this week. Definitely meat is expensive wherever you are, that's one benefit to eating vegetarian/vegan and having beans and lentils etc. Don't worry about your hard boiled egg, it's refreshing when things don't work out perfectly and I'm sure it still tasted ok. I agree too about the oil, both for the higher cost of olive oil and also the fact that it alters the taste of things with it not being flavour less, so a better option all round. I think you've been shopping very sensibly through this whole thing, keep it going! :)
It’s so nice to see food budget videos in Canada. You still have some amazing deals. I’m on Vancouver Island and not sure we I could find those items for that cheap. You have a great variety of meals! I used to live off of $20 a week back when I was drowning in debt and just making enough for all my minimum payments. I ate lots of spiced lentils in diced tomato with rice. (Probably 4+ times a week)
I really have to scour the grocery flyers to find some of these deals! Deals on meat are few and far between :( I'm in the Interior. Lentils are a great budget meal ingredient and so easy to add flavour to! We all have those times where money is tight...having to be frugal and make it through
Enjoying these videos. Getting some good ideas. Would like to try this some week but not sure i could survive on so little fruit. I hope you keep doing these.
I'm puffy in the mornings because i sleep on my face lol. I use dry whole milk like nestle nido for all of my milk. tastes pretty decent to drink too. just don't get the fat free kind. If you have a little pot you can plant in, if you take the bottom inch and a half or so of an onion, you can plant it and it will grow again. just stick it in the window :) you can cut the greens off as you need them. Some of mine even split and grew extra onions.
Haha! I sleep on my face too! I never thought that might be why I'm puffy LOL I've never heard of Nestle Nido but I haven't liked any of the powdered milk that I've tried yet. Mostly just Carnation and it's always fat free :( There aren't a lot of options for powdered milk unless I just haven't found them. This onion experiment is something that I hear a lot about :) Thanks for your great feedback! I'm so happy that you're enjoying the series!
I enjoyed your video. Thank you. I am a single person and I live by Myself. When I do buy a half gallon of milk, I cannot drink or use it all before it spoils. So I started shelf stable milk. It is cheaper and I do not have waste. It does not bother me either. And I live too far from the stores that have low cost milk. Milk at the gas station cost $7 a gallon. Milk at a low cost grocery like Aldi or Sav-A-Lot is less than $2 a gallon.
Thanks for the feedback! I agree, the taste of the evaporated milk is fine to me, much better than powdered milk even. I sometimes freeze milk (not in this challenge) if I can get a good deal on a bigger amount and it thaws just fine! Our gas station here in Canada sells a gallon for $7 as well so yours is really expensive! *with exchanges and all that*
Great buys and meal plans. Food has soared everywhere-but you did well to get your weekly supply for around $21. I'm in central MN and meat has become astronomical! Saw a "special" a couple days ago at local store...3 lbs bacon for $28.99!!!
If it isn't on sale, our bacon is regularly $5-$6 for 375g. It used to come in packages of 500g (which is one pound.) Like many things they have increased the price by making the packages smaller and smaller! At Walmart right now I would have to pay $23.88 to buy 3lbs of bacon (4 packs of 375g Great Value Bacon.) I think it's happening everywhere :(
@@JessicaWanders Agree but we-the consumer-have power. Simply do not buy!!! A friend of ours volunteers at food shelf and because no one can or will buy the outrageous meat-beef especially-they are giving it away to the food shelf😄
The industry mixes three separate oils that alone are toxic to humans, but together.. Well they Say its alright, but the body breaks everything down to its smallest components for digestion, so I personally err on the side of caution and avoid Canola oil.. Or margarine of any kind seeing as how it was invented to fatten turkeys and I need No Help in that department! Lol
Obviously I do use Canola Oil but I enjoy having a variety of fats and oils! I feel like everything has a place and everything in moderation works for me :) I haven't actually bought margarine in years though...hmmm lol I use lard a fair amount! Thanks for your feedback :)
It really was so sweet! It reminded me of maple flavoured bacon we can get here in Canada that I enjoy :) It was great that it was on sale and I got to try it!
Just discovered your channel and am absolutely LOVING you videos! Hope you continue these and also continue trying out new items. I’ve had that cured pork and it is so good as a breakfast with egg and some garlic rice :). Cheers!!!
Welcome! I’m so happy you’re enjoying the videos! I’m trying to bring new ideas every week. It depends a lot on what’s on sale 😆 I liked the pork as well!
Have you ever tried doing bacon in the oven? That's the way we do it anymore. You have to tweek it to your oven, but generally 425 degrees F for about 15 minutes. You need to keep an eye on it until you know if your oven runs too hot..... ;-) I love having bacon in the freezer already cooked, it is such a great way to add flavor to things. I can't believe you have that much butter left! We go through, probably too much butter... You were so brave trying that pork!
In this challenge I’m only cooking using my stovetop and without any large appliances but otherwise I’ve actually never tried cooking bacon in the oven! What a great idea 🙂 That pork is actually really tasty! I’m so glad I tried it 👍🏼
your pita bread will last longer if you cut them in half and open them up. we love making them into chicken salad pockets with leftover chicken with some cut veggies on the side
@@JessicaWanders And thanks for the added touch of showing what ingredients you had left and rolling them over to your next week. That's a nice touch. I am subscribing😊😊

I’m obsessed with these videos
I'm so glad you're enjoying the videos! :)
That pork sausage is a Filipino breakfast staple usually served with garlic rice and a fried egg.😋
It was soo yummy! :)
I'm enjoying the progression of your weeks and your staples are growing. Good luck, Canadian prices are higher.

Really enjoyed this. Just subscribed. Im in Canada also, very creative ideas.
Thanks for subbing!

I have found a couple of spices for $1 but it’s sooo hard to give up even $1 when you only have $21 😂 I’ll get there….
But it's a solid investment! Just look how the paprika is lasting!
So glad to see a Canadian one!!! the mr.noodles and no name hash-browns hit home!!!
I'm glad you're enjoying it! No Name

That really good challenge sis
Sometimes spend more than we needed. full support to that. God bless

Glad to see you are keeping that bacon fat!!!
Good flavourful fats are pricey! Gotta make use of everything :)

These videos are very satisfying to watch. I am impressed! You deserve some spices soon ;) Are there Dollar stores in Canada?
We have a few different dollar stores. I was even thinking about doing some dollar store videos. It’s where I bought my paprika!
@@JessicaWanders yes! Maybe you can get some more spices and find some other fun items.
Vegetable oil I use!! U use what work for u :)
I agree! Different oils have different uses but I use canola oil for a lot of basic cooking.
Wow! I’m impressed with your dishes and ingenuity! Everything looks great! Have you found yourself getting hungry between meals?
It seems like I'm always cooking and there is a lot of food around all the time! lol
Love the mashed potato idea

Nice video thanks. Was hoping on a update on the camper. Looks like there is enough food left to skip a week of shopping
You and me both want an update on the camper! We should know soon and I'll post when I know :) Thanks for continuing to watch!
Tocino is Filipino. Sweet pork meat and eat with fried egg and garlic fried and added to rice which is lightly fried.
I think it would be really good with a fried egg! Yummy!

Vegetable oil is a high smoke point, so better fir frying less smell then olive oil
