- This videos is of today's short day of sawing up a nice Black Walnut Log. Despite the rain I was able to get about 6 nice slabs out of this log before calling it quits.

GORGEOUS. MY HEART SKIPPED A BEAT WHEN YOU POURED THE WATER ON IT TO EXPOSE THE GRAIN.
LIKE A TREASURE HUNT.
I'D LOVE TO BE ABLE TO SMELL THAT BEAUTIFUL WOOD.
thanks, appreciate you watching,
A great video. This came up on my recommended. Glad I watched it. I just sold my 47 wood acres. I had a lot of good hardwoods, and a derecho wind came through in 2011 and knocked down and broke off some premium walnuts, cherry & other great trees (130 mph winds for 1/2 an hour). I did hire a forestry consultant who walked the mess for 3 weeks, marking tree & itemizing everything for a bidding process. Went through the bid and it was logged out the next summer. The sawmill hired a Mennonite man to log, who was super to work with. Took 3 months to cut down/salvage 1,037 trees. It is a pleasure to see what the end product can be and is satisfying that I turned my lemons into lemonade. I ended up with 3 miles of trails, and lots of new trees growing. I took the state forester's advice and placed cardboard boxes with walnuts on the stumps throughout the timber to allow the squirrels to plant them for me. The tops on the ground helped protect the seedlings from the deer browsing. Sadly, I sold the property with its beautiful log home, but I am aging and a single woman taking care of all that was getting too much. A nice young family can now enjoy and make this their forever home. Thanks for the great video, and sharing the beauty of the bounty that trees provide.
Kinda bittersweet of a story but a good one. Good memories are the blessings.
And imagine how many families you made happy with furniture made from some of that beautiful wood!
great story, thanks for sharing!
now i want a forest...
your awesome.
I'm a "city folk", been all my life (62 now) but there is something, magical, hypnotic in watching this video, truth is I can't relate to any of it, yet....I find it....mesmerizing....
thanks Tony, appreciate you watching,
Tony Zacarias I'm a small blonde woman and I do too😂 Wish I knew how to do what he's doing.
No mystery at all. Walnut is the most beautiful wood of all. Nearly all of the furniture I make is from walnut. I have been working walnut since my high school woodshop class (50 years ago) and I still get excited when I look at the grain, smell the wood as it is being worked, marvel as I fit pieces together so easily, and then watch the grain transform to something heavenly when I apply the oil finish. Oil and wax is all I ever use to finish walnut. Even when I go to Home Depot, I always stop at the walnut section in the lumber yard for a couple minutes to admire the wood. It is not the best quality walnut at Home Depot, but I am still amazed at how beautiful it is. Hope you enjoy this wonderful wood like I do.
The first time I got lathe time in my high school wood shop, it was with walnut. I've been in love with walnut ever since. I love the grain, the smell, etc. Bald cypress is a close second for me.
In Wyoming we have cottonwood, pine and aspen. Walnut is an expensive import, and walnut trees are abundant as unicorns. Watching you expose this indescribably beautiful creation is a truly spiritual experience. My friends look at me real funny when I tell them how much I enjoy watching videos of some stranger 1,500 miles away cot logs on a sawmill. But you expose glory. That never gets old, either.
Thanks buddy. I appreciate that 👍
Mate im in the uk , and its hypnotic ,
Matthew Potter I grew up in Wyoming and your are so right about the trees. You did forget the nice selection of sagebrush and tumbleweeds... very nice comment I might add.. Go Pokes!
Absolutely. I'm here in Colorado and each one of those slabs would run in the several hundred dollar range, if not close to 1K per slab. There is no walnut to be found here and we have blue spruce, pine, aspen and cottonwood here as well. I've had friends of mine say there is Russian Olive in eastern Colorado, however I have never come across it. There was a small slab (maybe 12 inches by 36 inches) at my local hardwood shop and it was over $200 for that small piece of wood. People back east burn oak in their stoves and it is painful to watch!
Matthew Potter. Aggreed Matthew , God's works always spiritual.
Beautiful! Just stumbled up on this and learned something new today! It looks very rewarding. Two thumbs up.
Thanks 👍
Watching jets take off and land, watching metal being poured, watching huge machines at work, it never gets old. Thanks for posting this.
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
Even when I was in college in 1983, the price of wood to make our projects with was already starting to get expensive. The quality and sheer size of each piece of your black walnut is just that today, gold. This has beautiful grain.
thanks, appreciate you watching,
I used to be a tower crane operator in the UK and I did a few builds where we were using oak as frames for balconies and we used to get the wood from France sometimes when we were cutting it like this u would open it up and find musket balls embedded in it where during the various wars the uk and France had had they had shot at each other but hit the trees u could tell they were old as they were Brown Bess size musket balls and the tree had just grown around it
I have hit some shot gun slugs before also, cool but hard on the blades,
Thanks for watching!
Out of the Woods yes hard on the blade and sometimes leaves big lead streak going down the wood our boss didn’t like using it but I thought it added to the history of the wood it was like opening up a little bit of history
agreed, that is a nice find!
👍
Speaking of wood from France, at the time that Notre Dame was put up, the builders had to send for the roof beams from a pretty far distance, because there weren't enough trees of sufficient size left in the Paris area. I think that was around the year 1200.
Sweet. My electric bass has a stunning walnut top. Beautiful wood.
I had no idea I would find this as satisfying as I did. Thanks RUclips. You learn something every day. That black walnut is simply beautiful. And it's not often I can say that about another fellows wood.
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
Amazing to see such a huge piece of valuable and rare Black Walnut.
I've just recently moved onto a 12 acre homestead where 10 acres of it are forest. I've already planted 10 Black Walnut seedlings. (Next year I will plant even more). I will not live long enough to see them come to full maturity but somebody down the road will come to realize what a gift that is.
Amen. If only most of the world thought like this, we would not have some of the issues we have today.
You should plant them in a pattern to, that way people will know they're even more special!
And then.....immenent domain, for an Amazon warehouse.
Josh RS Spammin In NJ, especially in the North, I do not know how many I have passed, but on my way to service calls ( HVAC/R ). Usually stop and pick up those black walnut nuts, dry them, the EAT THEM, that has got to be the TOUGHEST nut there is, in Nov, I had 30 of them., once I put some on a tray in the sun to dry out when I came home there were ALL GONE , ,,, SQuirells
I have been planting them for the last 28 years-many are getting huge! They love the soil/weather here in MI
A gorgeous piece of nature. Thanks for showing it to us all who couldn't afford to own it! Loved the water show! The gold jumped out at me! Music was also good! Thanks!
thanks, i appreciate you watching!
Plant more when you cut them down. Plant more if they fall naturally. Give back more than what you take. I love wood.
you love wood you say 😏
You do you, Punk Blastoise
Beautiful wood. Reminds me of the cabinet work my grandpa and dad did. They had a lot and grew their own black, English walnut trees to make furniture. My dad was one of the best woodworkers that I have known. Miss both of my pop and grandad.
thanks!
Gold mine, you aren't kidding! Love the knots if well formed, lead in-out, adds character. Premium board fersher.
I just love it when you BAPTIZE the boards!
When you said your buddy wasn’t there today I thought you meant your neighbor who could mow that grass for you. Lol 😆
Haha 👍👍
Yeh. We don’t get so many Weather and Neighbour updates any longer... 😎
Walnut is by far my favorite wood, I like the way it carves, the way it smells, and the way it looks with a nice natural finish. I can just imagine when you open up one of those what that is like. I need to get some stock to cut some spoon blanks from you. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 👍
Isn't walnut exceptionally rough on sawblades? I've worked it just a few times and it's unquestionably a very hard and heavy wood. It seemed like it ate up sawblades pretty fast. More than oak or maple in your experience?
Pneumatic, walnut is really not that hard of a wood at all; it is really an easy wood to work with. I use it to make guitars and some wood art pieces. I found that it cuts well, planes well, and routers well. It is also very easy to carve and shape by hand using files and sandpaper. Overall this one of my favorite woods to work with.
I’ve always loved it for carving, both for the aesthetics as well as the workability. I work a lot with endcuts, slab, and what most consider to be “firewood”, and it carves nice green as well as seasoned. I’ve found it with inclusions varying from purple to green within the heartwood. I use natural finishes and that doesn’t seem to affect it much either.
Wow, thank you for this video! Viewing this gorgeous walnut brings back memories. My Great Grandfather was a Jouneyman Cabinet Maker who immigrated from Great Britain in the 1920's when my Grandmother was in her early 20's. She soon married & had my father, an only child. My Dad was babysat by Great Grandpa Hopper & he had my Dad work right alongside him. Mixing horse hoof glue, pedaling (no electricity) a wood lathe & making beautiful tables & jewelry boxes with mine being one he made at 81 yrs old. He collected the neighbor's trees when they chopped them down so seeing the grain got me so stoked! Like you said, it never gets old. What a rare piece of wood because there aren't many black walnut trees that live that long, straight & beautiful. They're mostly grafted here & back several generations with English Walnut for farm production. Thank you for sharing. What beautiful items may this tree make?
Thanks. This will be a table in about a year. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Why are they grafted? Is it to do with black walnuts poisoning the soil?
I'm not sure, but I think because they have a stronger root system? It's so sad to see almost all of the old walnut orchards getting ripped out for grapes. They do sell the lower trunk for $$ for burl, & sometimes they're stolen before the buyer can pick them up. I live in Lake County in Northern California & we used to be the 'Pear Capital of the World.' Sadly, most of the pears were torn out by the 90's for wine grapes. We have had 9 fires in 3 years & the Medocino Complex roared through & is still burning in the beautiful Mendocino forest as we speak.
Absolutely stunning beauty of that Walnut naturally colored is so gorgeous!
"Live edge" tables are all the rage these days, and that one log could yield several beautiful pieces of furniture.
I live in Sutton Coldfield... England, I think we all feel the draw back to a simpler life. Imagine before the machines were available it would off been a lot harder with handsaws . Loved the video..
That's a piece of wood you could build an entire Bar around !! Absolutely beautiful !!
👍
What beautiful wood! I turned the most fabulous bowl from walnut, it is one of my most treasured possessions!
thanks, appreciate you watching,
If you would bury those walnut logs for about 6 months in a damp spot the bark will bleed stain into the white wood and the heart will get much darker. I had a LT 40 and loved sawing gun blanks out of walnut and curly maple.
Interesting. Might try that👍
That's a great tip! I too will give that a shot one of these days. I'm just a guy with some trees, a saw, and a love for making things out of wood, so I don't know all the tricks of the pros. Nice to learn something that I didn't know yesterday.
Excellent info thank you.
odatmatt 🎬🏵
What does that even mean?
No clue how the hell I got here, but this is awesome!
good deal, thanks for stopping by
Oh, I subscribed and turned on notifications, so I'm here for both a good time, and a long time! Keep it up! Gonna go through your bag log and see what this is all about haha.
👍thanks!
Stadium ARTs me too!
Same rabbit hole I went down i bet. Xoxo
Well, milling a log to expose the beauty of it's grain seems very satisfying. I enjoyed the video.
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
Nothing beats the feeling of a good slab of wood in the morning.
RUclips must know I've watched this kind of stuff before.
This is the best I've seen.
Professional camera work, editing, and musical background.
Very entertaining.
Beautiful wood, too!
thanks, appreciate you watching,
I want a table just like that. Just a log with the top cut. It looks beautiful
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
Very nice video. Beautiful log. I love watching the Woodmizer work. I have worked at Woodmizer for 4 years now and love seeing the labor of our love work so well. You did a very good job operating the 35 by yourself.
thanks, which Woodmizer do you work at?
Its so good to watch somebody who is obviously passionate about the wonder of wood. It looked amazing when you revealed its true colour with the water and being the first time its ever been seen, thankyou.
Thanks. Appreciate that 👍
For those who are wondering where the gold is, trying looking up the word metaphor.
don't you mean "the wood metre four".
@@ColinDaviesNZ
Tacky but whitty, kinda like my old man when he hit his 90's. 🐐🇺🇸
Beautiful wood it took more than a lifetime for it to be created priceless
Thanks. Appreciate that comment
Ive always believed the knots in the wood make it look better for tables and shelving. The beautiful imperfections of the wood.
I totally agree,
Out of the Woods: I’m a disabled Veteran on a fixed income, but I would love to get my hands on some of that Walnut to make my son a desk (He’s a Sgt in the Marine Corps). Can I buy some directly from you?
to think that absolutely no one had seen the inside of that before this video is amazing. every tree is different but thats what makes them beautiful. what i wouldn't give to have your life...
Thanks. Appreciate it
Just finishing up my first live edge piece, using soft maple. It's going to look great as a floating shelf, but man, this walnut is stunning. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching 👍
Love that color. Just wonderful color & smell..... lol... Don't care for walnut stain though. But this is pretty.
wow, when you wet it down you can really see how gorgeous that wood grain is !
Agreed. Thanks for watching
I know a lot of people don't like knots but I like them. I like the look. It's more difficult to work with and you really need to think about where the knot will land in the build but the looks is just amazing to me. Did my kitchen cabinets with pine and I kept some knots in there. It took a while to pick the wood though.
I like knots, too, as long as they're sound knots and there aren't too many of them. Once, I found a very sound knot that looked like the planet Saturn, and I saved it for a prominent place on the main entry stairwell handrail in a house I was building.
-- For projects for my own use (bookcases, an occasional cabinet, built-in shelves for odd corners) I use salvage lumber or unfinished bookcases that people throw away. I'll admit to using wood with loose knots which I have worked free and then glued back in place. It's kind of a strange hobby, making nice things out of garbage. When I was younger I took in a lot of strays, both 2- and 4-legged. I guess it's a sympathy for the underdog and the underrated.
I like Black Walnut. It makes a real nice self bow. A self bow is an archery bow, made from one piece of wood. The sapwood has a nice elastic quality for bending the limbs, and the heartwood for the handle area has good compression quality. You have a primo log there. Nice video.
Thanks 👍👍
Thank you for sharing this beautiful piece of God's creation. May you be blessed beyond measure ✝
thanks, appreciate that, thank you for watching,
In looking back, you had to weed eat to get to your sawmill and now you have all of these fantastic buildings. Life is good!!
Just when I think I've come to terms with losing a hand, I see a video like this and go down memory lane. Please understand I mean good memories.
👍
Hahaha...I thought there would be real gold....stupid me!!🤣🤣
That 'gold' BEAUTIFUL walnut fresh cut...WOW!! This was seriously entertaining to watch! As a kid I went into forest with dad, granddad & siblings to help load fresh cut wood for stove burning. My granddad would have LOVED this video!! Well done!!!👍😁
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
The beauty of nature ceases to amaze me! Such videos as these keeps my patience!
Thanks
Appreciate it
The slow-motion water splashing sent shivers up my spine.
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
Incredible log of walnut last time I was this excited and in awe of beautiful wood was when we took down our shed to find it was all made of teak.
thanks, its my fav wood to saw,
Your right there is nothing better for a job! Fun relaxing and the wood is so amazing and different every time! Good video bud!👍
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
I HONESTLY THOUGHT THERE WAS GOING TO BE GOLD IN THE TREE IVE JUST SLAPPED MYSELF GREAT COLOUR THOUGH
thanks, appreciate you watching,
yeah no gold...dag gum click bait
Don't worry, you're not alone.
yup me too
Don't laugh. When a started doing treelopping 35 years ago. Every one was laughing at me. I was making a minimum of $1500 a day. I am getting old to climb trees. I will be starting my portable saw mill in the future!
The wooding community is so kind i love your comment section!!
👍. thanks for watching
40 years ago my uncle planted ten acres with black walnut. He's gone now, but his great grand kids will have a wonderful legacy.
Agreed. Great plan he had there
That’s beautiful lumber. I’d love to have a mill like that .
Beautiful wood BW is. Curious what kind of drone took the video at the end ? I'm a wood turner and also a drone operator so your video was a double win for me :-)
thanks, the drone is a DJI Mavic Air,
thanks for watching!
As a wood turner, do you think that first cut should have been deeper and save that Walnut burl?? I don't know but I do know any burl makes beautiful bowls and veneer...
I sale to local bowl guys when I can.
Excellent video, beautiful timber I can visualize it made into a dining table all polished up and shiny. Wonderful.
Thanks Bob
Very satisfying video. I just learned the other day from my 86 year old mother that the house she described living in as a child was actually part of a logging camp.
She had mentioned the house on numerous occasions previously, but it was just the other day when her older brother, my uncle, was visiting that the fact came up that it was in a logging camp. I think more precisely(?), it was a sawmill camp. The men would cut down some trees, haul them to the sawmill, cut them up, and trucks would come pick up the lumber and take it to a mill for further processing.
I still have relatives in the business not too far from my mother's childhood home in the camp. I think back in the day oak was the mainstay, with cedar also. The sawmill was a large circular saw run off of a truck using belts for power takeoff.
Most of my family are city dwellers now.
Definitely wood porn, anyone see the giant knob in the grain at 12:03??
Appeared a few times throughout the video 11:38 one is what made me look at comments was expect a lot more about it....
I'm glad I wasn't the first to see that classic and comment. ;-)
Wait until you see him rub it down with sandpaper , it gets bigger 😳
That's a big knob
Does the knob make the wood more or less valuable.
Thanks Buddy, Awesome video. Makes me want to start my life all over again with a new hobby
👍
That is one beautiful piece of heartwood! I am drooling!
thanks, appreciate you watching,
This is the stuff that built America....good, honest, in field billet....the kind of work that offers spectacular results. Screw technology...now where the hell did I put my axe!!!
haha, thanks for watching,
Good to see you back at the mill!
Thanks. Good to be back 👍👍
Pure gold in that there grain. Lovely wood and mill
Thanks 👍👍
The Grain On That Is Something To Behold - Thanks For Sharing
thanks for watching!
This upload just showed up on my page. What a great surprise. Never seen anything as beautiful as that trunk before it was cut... and afterward, when the planks were sawn, just took my breath away. What an awesome gift a tree is! Thanks for the upload.
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
Nathan.... if you will take a fresh cut off the end of the log (just a few inches with the chainsaw) before you saw it, your blades will last twice as long. I usually cut them while they are in the lifting cradle. That first few inches into a dry log really stresses the blade at the gullet....and we all know blades will make you or break you!! HAPPY SAWING
Thanks for the tip 👍👍
Out of the Woods what State is that it’s beautiful.....👍🏻🇺🇸

Out of the Woods I was just in Greenback, Tennessee 9 days ago what county or town because I’m looking to build a house...... thank you very much......🇺🇸

Good Video!!,/ there are some entertaining comments posted below.... :) I've got 100 or more big walnut trees on my property../ just thinking about when to harvest them. Walnut is a very special wood!!
thanks, appreciate you watching!
Beautiful wood, my dad would have loved this, he was a finish carpenter and cabinet maker. I think he lived at the mill getting the guys to cut incredible wood to fit his projects. His favorite was mahogany. I go for maple and red oak or alder when I want something that is going to not mar and last forever.
Man, I'd love to have just one of those slabs. The tables you could make out of it would be so beautiful.
Agreed. Thanks for watching
Would like that for the new floor in my man cave...or paneling...or both!
You do not waste wood like this on flooring or paneling you peasant
Just saw this video scrolling thru yt, thought it was cool since I've never seen your channel, and I'm currently working on an African blackwood carving, subbed!
thanks appreciate your time!
That is just a thing of BEAUTY. Food for the eyes, heart & soul :)
thanks Dan, appreciate you watching,
I used to work with wood 8 hrs a day 5 days a week and I sure miss it ! I built wood boats for the state of WA and made furniture on the side.
Beautiful! That would make a NICE solid body electric guitar body like a Fender Telecaster or Stratocaster!
agreed, thanks for watching,
Walnut is not a tonewood. Looks great though.
Gotta love walnut. I have a monster of a black walnut in my backyard. It has to be at least 4 feet diameter and 60 feet tall. Much respect for such a beautifull old tree but I can't wait for the day she comes down $$$$
I have never seen anything like this, at first it was just loud and dusty then you threw the water... beautiful beautiful beautiful!
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
I’m always fascinated by machinery that helps man with production such as the one in this video and wonder who are the people who designed and built it. Awesome.
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
amazing video, awesome beauty, nice music too ! Wow!
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
Geez! Just about time to mow the sawmill! We could use some of your rain. We've had one day of measurable rain in the lsat 50 days here in Oregon. That's some sweet lumber!
Northwest Sawyer right across the river from you in WA, we’re praying for rain too and loving the cooler temps today. Bring on fall.
I'll send you some rain from NH. Everything is lush and green here.
Thank you, Kevin! We got some over night!
@@NorthwestSawyer ....
I can sit and watch someone work all day long sawing logs and not get the least bit tired.
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
This is one of things in life that appreciate. The work involved in felling a tree, trimming the branches, and cutting it to length is super hard work. One has to be very skilled and safe at doing this or death is possible. Also, the equipment involved is not cheap either. The milling machine looks like the enjoyable part of this work.
So when I go to a lumberyard and look at all the fine species of wood to create whatever I desire, I always appreciate the work involved to get it to the point of a slab for sale.
Thank you for this well made video!
Thanks. Appreciate you watching
I used to own a wood-mizer sawmill, it wasn't fancy like yours everything was manual except the forward and reverse and up and down. That's some good looking Walnut but I was expecting you to find some gold between the bark and the tree because trees do bring up minerals with them sometimes. you get a thumbs up this time
On the bringing up minerals part. Years ago they sold some trees off of my grandfather's land in Missouri. The 1st night afterwards the the field was glowing. We assumed the sawdust was full of phosphorus.
really...you clearly don't know antiques.
I think you're confused with a different thread
David, I also thought gold coins or something was under the bark. Perhaps hidden and buried near the tree long ago and the tree grew around them bringing them up out of the ground. Just like trees that grow around metal fences, forgotten bicycles and things like that. A visitor at Pawn Stars had an antique 1800's, single action revolver inside of an old cottonwood log. Fascinating stuff.
cannot beat walnut!
Agreed 👍👍
My mind is racing with ideas as to what to make with those slabs. Thanks for sharing.
Good deal. Thanks for watching 👍👍
Not sure why this popped up as recommended but, I loved it! The music was a nice touch as well. Keep it up!
Thanks 👍
haha I totally thought you meant there was GOLD under the bark. I was like, "whaaaa?" But now I see what you meant. Great job drawing in additional views with that lol. I really want to add that you really give a new view of wood cutting and appreciation through this video. Really well done :)
Thanks appreciate you giving the video a chance
You are truly blessed my friend!!! That's some of the prettiest wood I've seen in a very long time. You just can't find that kind of wood at just any lumber supply store... 40 years ago I wanted to get into fine lumber harvesting and selling. But life just didn't work out to where I could financially put it all together, So my wife just hung it up as another one of my pipe dreams. So I just pass the info I had on to someone that was financially able to put the pieces together. I never heard if he made a go of it or not...
God opened other doors for us to make a nice living with an awesome retirement package. I was able to retire at 49 years old. I just love the way God has it all worked out us if we just follow God's lead...
Awesome video thanks for sharing it with me... Be blessed... BBE..
Good deal! Thanks for sharing that
There are specialty hardwood outlets scattered around, but they're expensive. I had to buy some South American Mahogany to make some moldings for a 100-year-old apartment-building entryway restoration that was damaged by too much sunlight and too much ice-melting salts, and an 8' 2x6 went for $65.
Now let's make some beautiful end tables. .... and paint over the wood! Hahahaha!!
No way! Lol
The wood mizer saw mills are like magic. I want one for my
Pine tree log cabins,offgrid
Agreed. Thanks for watching
Hey the log You sawed. How long ago did you cut it down?
Enjoy watching you open up the trees!
Never gets old.
It was. Cut two weeks ago
Thanks for watching
OTW - Nice set-up. How much did that Wood Mizer set you back? That blade probably gets dull fast on walnut.
I guess the reason you poured water on one was to show the natural color of the wood better?
Yes in the water.
The LT35 runs about20k new
What a beauti! I think this wood is well underpriced. Once they are gone , they are gone.
Agreed
Plant more buddy!!! My grandfather lived on the same farm his whole life and when he was 78 he looked down towards the riverbottom he had been cutting trees on every fall for the past 75 years and said "ive been cutting trees my whole life, but it doesnt even look like ive made a dent!"
Treehuggers have nothing to fear from guys like this theres just not enough time in your life to kill all the trees (and most oxygen comes from bacteria so dont let them lie to you we.dont need trees to breathe)
@@richardvargus7443 love it.
I love the way one man can do the work that would of taken 4 men and a lot of time to do many years ago.
Beautiful piece of wood. Nature gives us such pleasures.

I love the part where he sawed the log😀
Me too my favorite part
The part where he talked about sawing the log was pretty good too.
👍
Enjoyed that
thanks, appreciate, it,
It's amazing how beautiful trees are in so many aspects! Simply gorgeous!
Nathan it's always very pleasurable watching your youtube channel your reactions and comments allow me to see how much passion you have for what you do i can see you love it a lot i bet it provides a good source of income too?
I am like Tony Zacarias, big southern city all my life. However, I was fortunate enough to have been in Finish Carpentry/woodworking for 30 yrs, professionally. But 6th grade educated adults coming over here illegally always complained about me to the bosses. I am in IT now and those guys empty my trash up at work. I have always been in awe, seeing different kinds of wood, etc. etc. I look at this grain you poured water over, and first thing comes to mind is, God the Creator.
My first thought was nice coffee table
Just don't move to Dearborn Michigan. It's an Islamic strong hold there I have seen on You Tube.
If you two numbnuts can't find work with all your years of experience and choose to blame illegals then you probably no good at your jobs
Hello Fine Gentleman. If you had the (&^%$) to read through my post, you'd have read, I am in Information Technology (IT) now, and for past 15 years also, Sir.
Also, Cruzillo.... Lets say your an employer needing a woodworker. You have two guys to choose from... One who has been doing this for 40 yrs. and the other who has a 6th grade education, and has been doing the same for 5 yrs.
Who ya' gonna hire!!!!...... Nuf said, Sir.
I had a black walnut tree in my front yard that the trunk was at least twice the size of that one. It was huge. The guy cut it down for free so he could have that trunk.
Hate to say this.
He robbed you.
There's no telling how much he got for that wood.
Yeah I know but we actually tried to find someone to do it for free for months (knowing the value of the wood). So we took what we could get. They had to work around power lines and the roof of my carport. Giant limbs were hanging over both.
The guy left all the small stuff for us to deal with it was part of the deal. That's what I meant by take what we could get. There was a massive amount of stuff he didn't take, a pile so big you could barely see my house behind it.
I wish I could upload the photo I have of the stump.
Yeah, you sound like you got the better deal.
I saw an old, rotten log and you ended up showing me such beauty. Thank you!
