Watcing this in 2024 and have found some great ideas for setting up the daily/weekly/monthly routines in the front of a planner, thank you, really helpful!
I think I found my planner soul mate! Your setup and routines are great - pretty AND functional. I think that is what I enjoy most about your videos - you use your supplies for real-time planning and the result is an artistic representation of your day. I absolutely love it! Keep it up, and keep making videos, they are definitely an asset to the planner community!
+LadyKat528 {The Minimalist Planner} Thank you SO much! I enjoy your videos as well. If my planner is not functional, then I do not use it. It seems like such a waste of money and beautiful things. I find that I am more "at peace" with how my day is going when I have realistic expectations and not overwhelmed by making things pretty. I only do that when I have time, which is rare these days. lol Have a great day and TFW!!!
Um, not too much detail - colors (yes), symbols (yes), homemade stickers (yes)! So adorable! Love it all! I have the Avery labels one size larger. I thought those smaller ones were way too little, but now I know they're not. :) I love the wider washi for larger time blocks and designated washi for each item. So many great ideas. Fantastic setup as usual. Love your thought process and details.
I just got an A5 binder after being in a spiral for months, so I was looking for videos. So glad I found this one. Totally using that idea of the journaling cards in the sleeve for routines! I have those same cards too. Yay!
OMG, this is the most organized person in the world. Amazing... Would love to hear more about your planning process, how much time you spend per week on planning, if you allocate time every morning, evening, etc. Great job with this video, btw, and thanks for your help.
+Patrick Pray Thank you Patrick ! I can absolutely do a video on that, but I can go over this quickly. I take a maybe 15 minutes in the evening to go over my to do list for the next few days and throughout the remainder of the week. In the morning, I take approximately 5 minutes to review my daily to do list. I do not always do weekly planning in my A5 planner because my weeks get really busy as final exams are approaching or if I am traveling. However, my daily planning in my Day Designer from Target is my go-to planner & on-the-go planner. I try to keep up with my project planning every other week and this takes me about 20-30 minutes depending on how many projects I have going on at one time. Again, this goes to the wayside if my life is very hectic. I hope this explanation helps! TFW!!!
+Julie Macias I am so glad to hear it Julie! In my quest to be as efficient as possible, I have tried many different options and layouts in my planners and my overall planner system. I am happy to share them with everyone so that maybe they could work for them. Have a great day and TFW!!!
+jocelyn palomo Thanks Jocelyn! I knew I was not going to be able to make as many as final exams approach, so I made a bunch in advance! I will get back to making videos during my Christmas break. :) TFW!!!
I never comment on videos but I have to say that you have THE BEST planner videos! I really like how your planners are organized and not just covered with random stickers everywhere. You inspire me to be more organized!! Your voice is super soothing and nice, too! Haha please never stop making videos! :)
+pinkieboox3 Awwwww! Thank you so much! It's funny b/c I always thought I had a squeaky voice. I'll make videos as long as I possibly can b/c my set-up and planning system changes as my life changes. Needless to say, life changes a lot. TFW!!!
Thanks Rachel for the very informative and helpful video. I appreciate the time you spend sharing these videos with us. I love the way you have set up your planner. I have been trying to decide if I "need" the A5 Malden, I think your video has helped me make my decision. Blessings to you!
+Teresa Davis I am so glad my video was helpful to you Teresa! I really like the flexibility of having an A5 at home and a personal Filofax for on the go planning if I need it. Have a great day!
I'm new to planning and I am loving your videos! I watched your set up for your personal size and loved how you use daily inserts and wanted to check out this video to see your daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly routines. I am terrible at routines and I think this might just help me figure out a system. A HUGE thank you for making these videos!
Love you're videos they are really helpful to people that are just getting into planning like myself. Would you be able to do a video on how you set your routines up please, it's something I want to do but not sure how to go about it. Also your homemade stickers look great 😀
Loved the video! I would love to see a video with more details about your routines (eg how did you arrive to them, how do you schedule them), your stickers (eg the sticker reference page, what icons do you use for what activities), and your planning routine ( how you go from those routines to scheduling them in your day). Thanks a bunch! You rock!
I just found your channel and I love it!! I love how you give tips and they're not just decorate or plan with me videos. This will help me stay motivated to plan! Thanks so much! I would love it if you would go into detail on everything...stickers, stamps, how you make them etc. Again, Love your videos!!
+Rachel Dunaway thanks so much, I'm looking forward to it! Could you also do one on how you color code? I would like to color code my planner and am curious on how you track everything with the graph and hearts you've shown in some of your vids.
Great and thorough video with lots of great idea. I have the same Studio L2e stamps and have also done my own stickers like you. They are so fun to use. Love the idea of using washi tape for the boxes instead of making stickers or buying stickers like many other places show. Lord knows I have a crap ton of washi lol.
+Michelle M at LadyBlueStudios lol me too!!! I told myself I would not outgrow my washi drawer, but it's looking like that is not gonna last. Have a wonderful day Michelle!
Michelle M at LadyBlueStudios hello! thanks for spelling out the name of that stamp shop! lol. I've watched over and over wondering what she was saying. :P I feel dumb divulging that info, but relieved to finally know what it is exactly so I can look up that shop!! :))
Yayayayay! Can you tell I am excited? Lol. I just love organized you are! ps. I'm thinking of posting a video of my personal malden before the year is out and I hope you don't mind if I mention you and link to your channel. :) pps. I left the ring guards on my A5 too. Ha.
+Huma684 Absolutely! I will go over these more in depth in an upcoming video. Just studying for final exams right now, then back to more videos! TFW!!!
I have a Malden in personal size. I have never had one before. I was not prepared for all the scratched that it gets just by gently handling it. The wear and tear is scaring me from wanting to use it for my travel buddy.
+Mrs. Mom Next Door Some people love the way it wears and scratches, but I am like you. I don't like the scratches, so if I do take it out of the house, I put it in a soft-sided bag. I hope that helps!
You mentioned that you had an a5 financial binder. Is that something you'd consider doing a setup-video for? I'm currently working on setting one up for myself so I'd love some inspiration and you seem like such an organized and structured person :)
Hi Rachel, love the video! I was wondering if you could tell me where you got the transparent holders that fit your weekly, monthly, and yearly overall schedules. Thanks :)
I discovered your videos from The Sassy Pineapple and have really picked up some great tips. Thanks for posting these videos. Where did you get your preprinted weekly and monthly journal cards that you used for those repeating routines? I can see that some you created yourself but others were preprinted (specifically, the vertical weekly one and the horizontal monthly one).
As a pre-med student applying to medical school this year, my life is nuts (as I can see yours is too lol) and I am so excited to implement a lot of these ideas into my own medium Kikki K! Thank you for all of the amazing ideas:) Also, where do you get the craft paper?
+shelbyb310 Thank you Shelby and good luck in school! I purchased the kraft paper from Amazon. It's from a store called Kikkerland if you cannot find it on Amazon anymore.
+utubeaddicttoo I use the trick of taking an old credit card or gift card and use it as a straight edge to cut the washi while it is already adhered to the page. TFW!!!
+An L I will be doing a faux plan with me soon. A lot of people have been asking to see my hand lettering with different planner pages. Keep a lookout! TFW!!!
+Christina Pavelka My monthly layout can be found at philofaxy.com or at mylifeallinoneplace.com. They are free printables. My weekly layout can be found on Etsy and the shop name is SewMuchCrafting. Hope that helps!
+The Planner Page I actually use a mini iPad in a case that stands the iPad upright. I put the iPad onto a box and tilt it down to get the right angle. I do not use any fancy lights, just 2 lamps that are on my desk and an overhead light in my office area. I hope that helps for now!!!
Hi Rachel! Thanks for sharing! I was wondering what your thoughts are on the floppy, soft leather of the Malden. Is it too flimsy or hard to manage? Does the quality seem like it will last being carried around in the car, on errands, etc. I'm in love with the natural leather look, but I am also pretty rough on my planners. Thank you!
+Aileen Townsend Aileen, It seems a little delicate to me. However, if you don't mind a few scratches here and there, it should be fine. The leather is a little floppy, but I have seen people reinforce the planner with cardstock in the front and back pockets. I do love the maldens, but if I do take them out of the house, I feel more comfortable if I have them in soft-sided bags. I hope that helps!
+Rachel Dunaway Thank you for the info! I purchased some studio L2e stamps after watching your video. it's such a great idea! thank you! looking forward to the next video! hope you had a great thanksgiving! :)
Hi! I had a question! For those of us in college, would you recommend a horizontal or vertical style layout for classes and also personal planning?! Thank you and as always I love watching your videos! So many good ideas!
+Asia Cruise Asia, it really depends on your own personal planning style. I feel that vertical planning works well for people that need more structure and time management. This helps see where you can fit in to-do's in between your scheduled appointments and time-sensitive events. Horizontal planning works well for those that need to make to-do lists and do not have as many appointments and time-sensitive tasks. I have used both inserts simultaneously in the past because I needed both. I hope that helps and TFW!!!
+Natalie Bota My A5 stays at home and I carry my personal with me all the time. When I had an office job, I carried my A5 with me to work because it sat on my desk all day. TFW!!!
+Ju AC I will be making a more in-depth video about my current routines. I have a video regarding study routines that you may find helpful. I think it was the 2nd or 3rd video I uploaded. Hope it helps! TFW!!!
+Diane Rabinovich In this video, I focused on my DIY stickers made from Avery labels and Studio l2e stamps. However, I do have a video with my sticker organization. That may help you see what I have used in the past. TFW!!!
+Aryn Lawson (lovelikeRyn) I have an instagram account but do not currently post any pics as of now. If I start, I will definitely let everyone know! TFW!!!!
Hello everybody I'm hoping you guys can help me out :) I'm looking to trade my new Kate black Wellesley for a new/slightly used a5 ochre Malden :) if you anyone who wants to trade let me know :) thank you !!
Please don't ever make another video where you have left the ring protectors in place. That is as bad as old people who leave the plastic on their furniture.
My heart skipped a beat when I seen you added a new video. Phenomenal Rachel
+Monique Smith Thank you Monique! Have a blessed day!

+Patty Campbell I'm so glad my video gave you an idea! Have fun with your new planner and TFW!!!
I really like that you make your stickers with stamps. buying off etsy for stickers is expensive. I love how you use your supplies creativly.
+happy I love the planner stickers, but cannot justify buying them when I have so may supplies that I can make work. Have a great day!

This is extremely helpful, Rachel. I am new to the world of A5 planners which I will use for 2016. Your tips are what I need to know.
+Irma Arricivita (irmaloveslife) Great to hear! TFW!!!
Its so good that you're making more frequent videos!! Always the best ideas
+jocelyn palomo Thanks Jocelyn! I knew I was not going to be able to make as many as final exams approach, so I made a bunch in advance! I will get back to making videos during my Christmas break. :) TFW!!!

How do you trim your washi tape when you add it on your planner? It's so straight and really fit the box in your insert
+utubeaddicttoo I use the trick of taking an old credit card or gift card and use it as a straight edge to cut the washi while it is already adhered to the page. TFW!!!
Great set up video.
+Lesleyanne Barge Thank you!
Hi! Not sure if others already requested this in the past, but do you think you can do a Plan With Me video for your three planners? thanks!
+An L I will be doing a faux plan with me soon. A lot of people have been asking to see my hand lettering with different planner pages. Keep a lookout! TFW!!!
+Rachel Dunaway Awesome! can't wait. thank you!
I love your video and was wondering where you got your monthly and weekly paper from. I like the layout but can't seem to find anything quite like it.
+Christina Pavelka My monthly layout can be found at philofaxy.com or at mylifeallinoneplace.com. They are free printables. My weekly layout can be found on Etsy and the shop name is SewMuchCrafting. Hope that helps!
Wow I want to be a planner like you.
could you do a filming set up video? Im new to youtube and am lost at how to use the tripod and also what editting software to use for PC.
+The Planner Page I actually use a mini iPad in a case that stands the iPad upright. I put the iPad onto a box and tilt it down to get the right angle. I do not use any fancy lights, just 2 lamps that are on my desk and an overhead light in my office area. I hope that helps for now!!!

Love your videos. I am new to all this and I just got an A5. Do you carry it with you or does it stay home?
