On our first Christmas, we used a gifted tree. My parents had bought a new artificial tree and gave us their old one. My husband spent quite a bit of time reattaching the broken branches. We were both working and with over time , we hadn't much of a chance to buy presents let alone decorations. We spent that Christmas Eve making origami birds out of wrapping paper. I'll never forget it. Our topper was a bird's nest we had found one Sunday afternoon while walking in the park. We created a large paper bird to sit in the nest. In the end, with clear lights and red bows added, the tree turned out lovely in 1978. Over the years, we have collected hundreds of ornaments, none of which are paper, although we still have some of those birds hanging around in a box somewhere. Thanks for the memories & Merry Christmas!
The day we decorated our first tree as a married couple I had crochet'd little Christmas stockings that were white with red and green edges. That was the decoration. My husband spent every minute with me and I will never forget it.
Our first tree, 49 years ago, was a used 4 foot tree. Some new and some repurposed ornaments. So proud. We had few couples over after church and came home to a fallen tree and broken ornaments everywhere. The ladies helped this newly wed tidy up and still have a fun eve. I learned to steady the tree after that! Love this family video. You are all so talented and fun to watch!

My husband spent quite a bit of time reattaching all of those broken branches. We were both working and with over time , we hadn't much of a chance to buy presents let alone decorations. No internet back then and many stores where we lived were still closed on Sunday. We spent that Christmas Eve making origami birds out of gold wrapping paper. I'll never forget it. I loved meeting Jimmy, Emily and their 4 lovely children!!! One Christmas I remember is with our daughter, who was a toddler at the time, because our tree spun...the entire thing!!! My daughter loved that tree and how it told a "story" as it spun!!! I have always loved Christmas... owe that to my mom, decorating for Christmas, listening to Christmas music, cooking for Christmas, making cookies for Christmas....just Christmas Central!!! That being said, I already had a nice collection of ornaments (which has grown with every year) and did the "pinch" for my bows tucking them in and out and placing the floral wire to save all my glass ornaments tucked in deep... great minds think alike!!! The marriage did not last but the memory of that Christmas lives on in my heart!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Decorate in two hours! I loved that because it's totally me. When I saw Day 2, I was like 👀 But this was so beautiful and I appreciated the comments from Jimmy's wife. I could see myself incorporating these tips as I really only have energy for the tree, over like a tablescape. 25 years of marriage and my tree still has a special spot where our first year ornaments go. 😍 PS the music was fabulous. Thank you!
@samiamisme I know right... a couple of days is what it took but mostly because of the stops for real life stuff... like diaper changes, meals and playing with the kids throughout :-)... I have a treat for you. Jimmy's Christmas music is available for free! maranathachapel.org/singalong I hope this video was informative and helpful for you as you begin this years decorating. Congrats on the 25 years of marriage! Thats an accomplishment these days ;-) RR
Robeson Design ...thank you! I grabbed the music right after I watched the video. Yes, I absolutely learned so much! Extra lights, tucking balls into the branches, and the bow/ribbon! I wouldn't have thought to put it a little lower and tucking the ribbon in makes so much sense, over letting it flop down the tree. It turned out pretty, personal, homey, but still has that upscale designer flare without being snooty. 🤗
@risel Blanco Well thats a very nice compliment. I'll pass it on to my kids :-) Stay tuned for the coming videos in this series of The 25 days of Christmas as the tree in my home is NOT traditional in its color scheme. It will be revealed in the coming days! RR
My husband and I have been married 49 years. We were so poor in the beginning we really couldn't afford a tree so we cut a little tree from family property. The tree was put into a container of some sort to hold it . We had hand made bows and a handful of hand me down decorations. I loved it dorky as it was. Marie
Thank you @zachtownsend1 I think newly married couples who are in the same position as you were back then will find comfort in your creativity. Its not what you have, its who you are with that really matters. Thanks for sharing your story with us. So sweet! RR
I had a silver tree that my aunt sold me real cheap and it had the a electric rotation that shines on the tree and it changed from red to green to gold and would continue to rotate back around.again. I don’t think we had any ornaments. We had this a few years until we could buy a tree. I was so excited when I finally got a green tree. We didn’t have extra money for trees those first couple of years. I read your response and needed to share. Pat in NC
Just beautiful,the family and the tree of course. My first Christmas tree in 1981,I told you I was ancient,was bought at a "discount "shop here in the UK three days before Christmas.We were working and I rushed out to buy food and the tree was on "sale"so I had enough for the food and the tree(all £3.25p).Only problem was strapping it to my bicycle,which I had to walk back to work,then after work I had to walk home pushing the bicycle.Of course it decided to rain! We had no money and no baubles,but we had a tree.Hubby ,a little more inventively,cut shapes from newspapers,which our neighbour had given us.Such fun!NOT!It sucked a lot,but the tree stuck with us through four Christmases,being dragged in and out of attics with cheap ornaments being added each year.I never thought I could ever afford anything better.But it so reminded us of the huge sacrifice Jesus Christ had done for us sinners,born in abject poverty in Bethlehem and to issue a message of peace and Godly love. Thanks Rebecca for the walk down memory lane for this old bird!
I took graphic design many years ago and am amazed at how well it applies to interior design also. I have watched all your videos and my christmas decorations are starting to look like they came out of magazines because of listening to and following your advice. I am starting to get friends and family asking for me to come decorate their homes. Thanks Rebecca and you have a lovely family.
Our first Christmas we lived in Germany and couldn't really speak nor read German. But we wandered into a store and bought an artificial Christmas tree. Got it loaded and took it to our little place. We quickly realized that we had purchased a 12 ft tree and had maybe 8 ft ceiling. So we took out one portion of the tree and then added the top section to that,well that somehow threw off the balance of the tree and the Christmas tree had a heavy lean . We decided we'd bungie cord the tree to a banister behind the tree and proceeded to decorate it. It was great!! Needless to say my Mom inherited that tree and she still has 23 years later ,and it looks beautiful..all 12 feet of it. :D Thanks for all the wonderful Christmas decorating videos,I look forward to them every year!!
I loved every moment of this!! It's a blessing to see everyone working together, and learning from each other. Emili's comment about their first Christmas had me in tears. Cutting out hearts for a Christmas tree is pretty non-traditional! For the two of them, it sounds like it was all about love. Love for each other, and love for baby Jesus. I have to admire that....... They kept "the main thing", the main thing!! The four mini Robesons are beyond precious, and I pray for ENDURANCE for Jimmy and Emili!! Holy Christmas!! That would be more than I could handle-God bless them!! It's all completely beautiful, and I'm sending love and hugs to all!! XXOO
Hi Jimmy! You're so very welcome! You are truly an inspiration to me. I hope when I'm out in S.D. I can come and worship at your church! Thanks for helping the light of Christ to shine so brilliantly through your musical gifts and your precious family of SIX! You and Emili are clearly awesome parents, and you make beautiful babies! Ok, so maybe The Lord had a little part in it all! :) Merry Christmas!
Another spectacular tree. My husband and I also had a walmart tree and just lights 25 years ago. Of course now with Rebecca and her you tube channel and design I decorate every inch of our home. ❤
@Martha Gonzalez-Buitrago Awwww Thats so sweet. Time has a way or changing things right :-) I'm so happy you have found us and we can be a part of these magical memories in your life. Happy Holidays Martha :-) RR
Robeson Design thank you Rebecca for responding. Thank you for years of hysterical fun and very informative videos. Love ya. Btw I pulled all my tubs from storage too🤗. I'm using all of it!!! Lol
This is the most beautiful tree I ever seen bec I never saw such a loving mother in law who is so caring and friendly so this tree is made by true love which we can't find these days love u both so adorable
This is by far, my favorite episode of your show. May GOD richly bless your son and his family. The music was heavenly! May GOD bless you and all you’d touch for his glory. Thanks for letting us into such a beautiful part of your life. Merry Christmas!!
My first Christmas tree out of Mama's house was very skimpy. We bought multi-colored glass balls for the tree. Now, since 1982, there are few left. Enough left, though, to put them in a lovely clear cylindrical vase to display tough times Christmas balls. It reminds me of how the Lord doesn't always give us what we want, but he gives us what we need.
Great way to finish off the week-a surprise "meeting" your other son and his family! Thank you for sharing your family with us Rebecca! Beautiful 🌲 and such precious little ones! 😊
Our first Christmas together was spent at a friend's cabin in the mountains of Idaho. We had packed so much to bring with us for the week (Our car was packed like yours- to the brim) however, even though we had brought gifts for each other, I didn't even think about needing Christmas decorations. I was so sad without a tree. We ended up cutting down Sagebrush and putting it in a huge wood coal bucket that was there. We gathered long thin bare branches, pinecones, evergreen branches, and used odd things we found around the cabin; matching table runners, wooden spoons, old work boots, mittens, etc. and decorated that "tree" all up. I'll never forget that first cozy, mountain Christmas.
Our first Christmas was a poor one. We had just gotten married, he just finished his tour in the army and started his first job. He bought a small 5 for tree from Walmart, gold garland and a box of those satin ball ornaments and decorated it himself. We had no money and knew Christmas was going to be just us as gifts and nothing more. But the fact that he surprised me with a small decorated tree was the best gift of all. A moment in life I will never forget.
16 years ago we got our 1st tree, a real one..... Never again, needles found for years! Now we have a great artificial and 16 years of decorations we have collected including a nice collection of swarovski crystal snowflakes and stars. Love your videos x
This is my favorite video of yours to date. (I've loved them all but this was the best!) When I was first married we couldn't afford a tree so we cut the bottom branch off of the large pine tree in our front yard and leaned it up against the wall. We put on some lights and red ornaments and it served us just fine. It's a story I like to tell my grown kids to let them know that things may not be perfect but still work out. The year of the Christmas branch.
Thanks Rebecca for sharing your decorating the tree at your sons sweet family home! I especially love the time you and your daughter-in-law sharing memories of their 1st Christmas tree from Walmart . Not sure how many times been watching this video but love it so much. The music and your grandchildren made it so organic ! ❤️
I got a 4ft black tree I purchased the year before, I decorated with gold, some silver ribbon, ornaments and black and white ribbon. Christmas Day we spent it alone having a Harry Potter marathon. Happiest Christmas ever!
Being newly wed and broke my husband and I made most of the ornaments in the kitchen. Gingerbread men and women along with candy canes, orange peels candied and hung with cranberries and fans out of that twisted paper. Pomanders with cloves and cinnamon. White pinecone painted and glittered with little red and white bows. Oh the smells were awesome. I'm so looking forward to a grand birthday celebration this year too. Have a blessed Christmas. Joy unspeakable!
You did a beautiful job of mixing their kid-friendly ornaments with a designer's flair and a few trinkets and baubles from your car. It turned out wonderfully festive and lush! Great job, Rebecca!
I think it is really awesome that you have such a relationship with your daughter in law. I have 2 little boys and I pray that I will have good relationships with their future wives! Also, loved the worship Christmas music!
Our first Christmas some 30 years ago we used tiny orients from an old tabletop tree I'd and cookie cutters. Add ribbon and voila! Love seeing Jimmy and Emily and the little ones. Our boys decorated the tree most years.
@Linda Elliott Thats a sweet memory Linda. As we look back over the years, these memories are some of our best right? It was very fun for me to help Jimmy and Emili. Their sweet family is what really matters and being a part of that was enough for me to remember what this season is all about! RR
Aww I loved getting to see your older son and his family and I especially loved how beautiful their tree was but still had all their traditional baubles, it seems to have turned out very them!
Love love love!!! My tree looks very similar with those big ribbons wrapping the tree, perfectly place bows, tons of white lights, and hundreds of red and white ornaments, new and passed down...but I remember my first Christmas with my husband. Wide white ribbon and Christmas cards were all we could afford to decorate with. It was a simple and lean time, but full of love. ❤️
Love it... I remember my husband came home from work with our Christmas tree one day ... he just started working for the trash company and was on the rich houses route they just threw a perfectly good tree out ... to this day I still have that tree ... my husband doesn't let me throw it away ... it's been about 12 years but he says it has brought him luck ....
Actually made me tear up . . . Just beautiful seeing your blessed family enjoying and appreciating your “work” . . . It came out gorgeous! I love that print too on the left of the fireplace . . . And how about that Dave? Such a good guy ...✨🙂
@Donna Doble-Brown I know right... Dave is a rock star! Totally went the extra mile! I'm so glad you enjoyed our family time together... I know we did! :-) RR
Outstanding as always Rebecca. I watched it over and over again. ☺ Good to see more of your family members. What a nice surprise. So far I've seen 2 sons, a daughter and now a daughter-in law and 4 beautiful grandchildren.
Our first Christmas a married couple was in 1990. We had a tiny one bedroom apartment. We bought our first tree at Frank's Nursery and crafts and we bought a bunch of DIY ornaments from the craft sections - like the ones you use sequins and beads to decorate, little candy canes made out of beads, and little stained glass ornaments where you melt the plastic bits into metal frames in the oven. We cranked up some Metallica and got to decorating and we had a great time lol. And yes - I still have those ornaments, almost 30 years later, and they still go on my tree
Love, love the music of Jimmy and the Worship Band...great harmonies. The tree is adorable. Amazing what can be done and learned with expert help. Precious family, Rebecca. Thanks for sharing. God's richest blessings to you all...Christ is born!
@Karen Helser I'm so glad you liked Jimmy's bands rendition of Joy To The World. Its available as a FREE download here: maranathachapel.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/JoytotheWorld.mp3
Mom again. Laughed my way through it a second time! :-) And I LOOVEE the gorgeous Praise music by Jimmy! This video ought to be subtitled "How to actually spend more than two hours decorating". Hysterical!!! I actually have been happy with my results from my "15 minutes" a year. But now I know what else I can do, with more time! Gotta admit, I kinda like the simple popcorn and paper cutouts options for us. BUT I LOOVE to see other's creativity, and this is yet another amazing result! Way to go Rebecca! Thanks for being so transparent and real!
My first christmas with my hubby was 33 yrs ago, but i do remember it. We didnt have much money and i stopped and bought a 2 ft flocked live tree, white lights n red ornaments. I had gingham check ribbon red n white n tyed on bows. When it was done our evening was in the light of the tree and we just enjoyed the moment.
Love the tree!....But what I loved mostly about this video is the family unit. Especially how Mother~n~Law/Daughter~n~Law get along and share time together like this. How Awesome 🎄❤🎅🎄❤👍
I loved seeing this branch of your family!!! So much fun! My first Christmas with my husband was spent in our little off campus apartment in our college town. We had a real tree, because he refused to do fake trees, and multicolored lights. We decorated with our childhood ornaments and then had our new friends at college come over and do paper snowflakes for the rest of it. Now I only use white lights because it pops better with alllllll the ornaments we've collected over 13 years and with 6 kids!!
Our first Christmas tree was in 1981. All new for us and bought a lot of red and white balls. Still have most of those. This year will be different! My first Christmas without her. Sheila, my bride, passed in July! I have to somehow try to pull it together for our granddaughter! My son is a Marine and won’t get to come home this year!! We went the Camp Lejune last year! Guess having to learn our new “norm”. Haven’t really thought about the tree this year. This video has brought all those memories back! I’ll go to bed with a little smile tonight
Man o man, you guys are so blessed. First your mom is such a Talented Wonder Woman, Second she is decorating your house and please talk her in to letting you keeping all the Christmas Goodies? Say Please. Love You Guys. My mom passed and always remember which i can see you guys do. mom is a Special Blessing any season of the Year. Love, Carl
This tree is beautiful. I have to admit some of the most beautiful trees are those Walmart trees that you just decorate the best you can. I was fortunate to go on a "Christmas Walk". There were so many different Christmas Trees. I recall the one that was the sweetest was a tree that the kids made popcorn and cranberry strings and construction paper garland and little handmade ornaments. It was lovely.
Love it!!! Our first Christmas was 1998 and we'd only been married for a month. A family we knew gave us an artificial tree and some ornaments (all blue balls), and some silver garland. It was absolutely a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. But now we have a huge amount of Christmas decor and I love how our tree and house look at Christmas!
This video was very emotional and sweet . Decorating for Christmas is not only decoration, is gathering with the family.Thank you Rebecca for sharing with us the meaning of the Christmas.I wish you and your lovely family all the best for the Holidays. The music was magic too like all of you are. Happy Christmas.
@Sofia Dragini Thank you. And... I'm so glad you liked Jimmy's bands rendition of Joy To The World. Its available as a FREE download here: maranathachapel.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/JoytotheWorld.mp3
Oh I love this video! A total family affair! Not only does it look stylish and sophisticated but it's totally personal to Jimmy, Emily and the kids with all the little bits they have collected through the years. The style of tree, choice of ribbons and balls really do compliment the quirky ornaments they have and the stuff the kids want on the tree. What a special gift to be able to have your grandma come and help put up a wonderful tree to make your Christmas more magical. Good bless you Rebecca! Thank you for this.... Thanks to Jimmy also for his lovely music! SF (Vickie) x
Forgot to add that our first Christmas together was when we were living together and not married. My now mother in law purchased as a tree and some ornaments and then took us out to pick up a few more bits. Our flat was tiny and the tree was cheap and cheerful as were the decorations but we had them co ordinated in red and gold. It was my first year away from home too so it was a little bit special, we ended up driving over 300 miles to my parents for Christmas and had the traditional Christmas tree I'd grown up with on Christmas Day. X
This was so awesome. I'm so happy you included your son and his family and kept it real.My first Christmas we had a 3' tree on top of our dresser and we lived in the in-laws house that part sucked, but this month we'll be married 44years and my tree looks great every year thanks for showing me the beautiful way to decorate.And the owner of the xmas store is pretty cool to always be there for you,so kind.
Oh Rebecca I can't express how great this video is. You have such a beautiful sweet family. That was so sweet of them to let you tape this. Jimmy's music is so good. I can't thank you and your family enough for sharing this video. God bless you all.
Our first Christmas tree was a small Charlie Brown type tree because we lived in a small apartment. We had such a hard time finding one until we stopped by a corner tree lot. Makes me appreciate how with time, you grow and change together.
lol 😂 Home Depot with 4 kids. Rebecca’s daughter in law is very down to earth and sweet. I’ve seen a large portrait of her in my friends salon. The tree turned out so beautiful! Encouraging that Jimmy said to learn as you go through diy vids. These people are so humble! Looks like a lovely family.
By the way, this room turned out so sweet. I don't know Jimmy and his little family but this tree and all the decorations seemed to suit them perfectly. Thank you for sharing this moment!
@Laura Powell You are welcome Laura. Stay tuned... There will be at least 4 more videos from Jimmy and Emili's home during the 25 days of Christmas... You might not know them by the end, but you will feel like you do :-) RR
My first Christmas was all about family and being with the man I loved. We were of humble means back then, so we bought a spruce from the grocery store and some plastic big box ornaments and a tree skirt. That tree was our present to each other and that year I bought our "first christmas" couple ornament, which has two bears sitting in the tunnel of love kissing. It is my most treasured ornament to this day. Although we both can afford pretty elaborate gifts now, it's those humble times I love the most.
It was a tree cut down from the woods ,filled with homemade ornaments that we made because we couldn't afford anything else because when we married combined we had five children on a very limited income. But as I remember it was one of the best we had and it's been 22 years now and we have 5 grandchildren and we decorate everything all over the home we have created. Your family is beautiful, thank you for sharing and caring.
It's 1:44am and I'm watching your video; I love Christmas! Thanks for teaching design. My 1st married Christmas we decorated a tree;in our 1st apartment, and our 1st baby boy was mesmerized by the shiny ornaments.
I was raised in a cult so I didn't have a Christmas until I was 21 with my husband. We had a tiny tree and bought Dollar tree ornaments because we didn't have much money. But we had SUCH lovely time. Now we have gorgeous decorations I've collected over the last few years.
Your videos have helped me decorate my home beautifully for Christmas for the last 3 years. And I will continue to resort to your videos for years to come. Thank you so much for teaching me how to decorate!
First off, beautiful job, wonderful family, brought Christmas to my heart early this year! My 1st Christmas with my hubby, we had a 4ft white tree that we put on a card table, covered with a light & dark blue table cloth with snowflakes on it, I think I got it on clearance at Walmart for like $10. The tree had light & dark blue ornaments & snowflakes all over it & our topper, I made, an angel with a blue & white dress & tiny snowflakes on it, I was so proud of myself lol. Wow-32 years ago, since then there have been 3 kids (all grown now) & many changes to our trees through the years! Merry Christmas & God bless everyone :)
Our 1st Christmas tree as newlyweds was in 1973. We had red white and blue satin balls with some other patriotic type ornaments. Americana themed. We will be celebrating our 45th this year.
this lovely couple should have a youtube channel. I want to see their DIY renovations and house tour also. They have a homey cozy feel vibe in their home, something I'm more connected with since I cannot yet afford a million dollar house 😩
It is Andrew and my first Christmas together this year. We just got married this spring. I have loved watching some of these videos and learning more about how I can decorate for our first Christmas together. :)
I am loving these videos, I just watched them in reverse order😉. Our first tree was a real balsam fir. When we bought it we weren’t thinking about our space , just about how pretty & full it was.... it barely fit in our tiny apartment, we had just enough room to walk around it! If we sat on furniture we couldn’t see each other😂! Our ornaments were given to us as a shower gift before our wedding. My good friend went shopping right after Christmas the previous year (knowing she’d need a shower gift for us) and she bought beautiful stockings , lights, bulbs, and several figurines to decorate with! I thought that was such a great idea that I do the same now for any newly engaged couples- I go clearance shopping after Christmas! Thank you for this series of videos - I’ve been doing so much of my decorating all wrong!!! I gotta say my house looks so much better since I discovered your channel! My windows are balanced with mirrors, my furniture is balanced in my rooms, my art work looks “gallery like” now! Little changes with huge impact!! And it hasn’t cost me anything-I’ve used & repurposed what I have!! Thank you thank you! Merry Christmas!🎄
My first Christmas with my husband someone gave us a tree a few weeks before Christmas but I only had $25 to decorate it with so I had to purchase everything from the dollar store. Each year I've been able to add bits and pieces and now I have a beautifully decorated tree thanks to Robeson Design RUclips Vids!
When we couldn't afford many decorations and the children were little we would buy a string of Christmas lights for each of them and hang them along the walls of their bedroom. Every night they would lay in bed before going to sleep with the Christmas lights on. My children are grown adults now but still talk about how special that was. Even something as simple as this can be spectacular to a child with long lasting memories.
Our first Christmas we bought a big tree from Costco and covered it with the 2 tubs of plAstic ornaments we bought and called it a day. We too have come a long way. 😊 love the lights in the middle it makes so much sense!
Lovely, warm design for a sweet family. I always love watching your videos. I remember as a little girl, our CHristmas tree was made from a small tree branch, we glued cotton balls around each branch and when it was finished, it looked straight out of a yard full of snow. It was one of the loveliest Christmases I had some 45 yrs ago :) :)
@Jay Jops Sounds dreamy. No matter how hard I try to muster up some snow for Christmas... San Diego just never complies! Have a wonderful holiday season Jay. RR
Last year was our first Christmas together as a newly wed. I LOVE to decorate so I went all out. I did all Woodland creatures and plaid. We had 3 trees in total in a 1000 sq ft appartment but I think it was truly magical ❤️
We lived in Germany when we got our first tree. I wanted a real tree and we had so few ornaments - we strung lots of lights. We had a one year old son. It probably looked pitiful but I remember that first night- we all three laid under the tree to watch the lights twinkling, I still remember that feeling I had/ of peace and such happiness being with my little family. 34 years later, five children, six grandchildren, 3 trees, (upstairs, downstairs and a special tree for our Christmas Eve granddaughter who was a miracle) hundreds of ornaments and decorations - I love Christmas every year/ but that first Christmas tree- still my favorite.
Your decorations are very beautiful. The tree turned out amazing. You are such a loving and caring person. You have a very beautiful family. Thank you for sharing this video with us. I remembered for the first 3 years of marriage I had lived with my in-laws. I was very young only 16. They did not celebrate Christmas or any other holiday but the new year and one other celebration mid year.
I love seeing Jimmy and his family. And his music is lovely too - Heaven Resounds is my favourite song of Jimmy’s. The tree looks amazingly homey. And the magic wand is cool; I now want one for myself haha!
@Eorl C Thank you. It was really fun to include them this year! I'm so glad you liked Jimmy's Christmas music. Its available for FREE! maranathachapel.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/JoytotheWorld.mp3
Enjoyed the Red color scheme. I love how you daughter-in-law said it usually takes her 2 hours to do her decorating. LOL. Not in the Robeson family, the have set the bar HIGH when it comes to decorating! She is lucky to have you. Thankfully I am a part of your Design Sessions! Tish #SF
@TLC Peach Latina Hi Trish. Nice to see you. Yes, Emili had no idea what was in store for her when she married into this family :-) Thankfully, she a good sport and seems to be loving it :-) RR So glad you are LOVING The Design Sessions. Makes me very happy!
The decorations are just right for a family with 4 small children. Great job Rebecca and Emily. Jimmy great job on the mantle. It looks fabulous. Thanks for sharing your home with us!
It's too beautiful im gonna cry. 😍 anyhow, for our first Christmas as newlyweds (7years ago) we didnt have any decors and ornaments. Not even a tree! Haha. So to evoke a more festive atmosphere i just bought some red and muted gold curtains and switched out our regular curtains with those; i also don a Plain red fabric table cover and tah-dah!!! It was like magic. ✨🎄
Hi, our first Christmas as newly weds in Argentina was great! We bought a white tree and decorated it with gold ornaments from Mexico and white lights. It looked very beautiful and bright! I love your videos, thanks so much!!!
I love that you spent time with family while decorating your Christmas Tree. That is what makes it twice as beautiful. Your son has a beautiful family. Your daughter-in-law is gorgeous. Learned alot - unpacking the trees today!🌲🎄🌲 Cathryn
Dont know if you guys gives a damn but if you guys are bored like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all of the latest series on Instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend lately =)
Married 25 years ago. Our first Christmas tree was decorated with a few ornaments from my Mother in law and several satin covered ornaments. To fill in the empty spaces I purchased several spools of Christmas print ribbon which was hand tied into bows and attached to the tree. Every year we would add a few ornaments to replace some of the bows. One tradition we have with our children is that every Christmas Eve they each receive an ornament from me. This is the start of their Christmas decorations and will go with them when they have their own trees.
The tree turned out beautiful for your family. I still remember my husbands and my first christmas in our own house. The tree was decorated with gold and dark blue. After a few years we have changed it to red, white and silver because we needed plastic ornaments when our son was younger. He took them of and threw them around our livingroom. We builded around these plastic ornaments over the last years, and now we have a mixture of plastic and glass ornaments ofcourse..... the kids are 14 and 17 so that is no problem anymore. lol. Love all of your videos! Greetings from the Netherlands.
Such a wonderful peek inside your family’s home. Thank you for all the great tips. The beautiful music made me choke up a bit😍Our first tree (‘87) had red, blue & gold bulbs. I let my new hubby choose...and he was quite proud.
I'm watching a year old video and enjoying every minute. Loved the Christmas song, great talent. I'm a self taught interior decorator and must say that I'm glad I found your channel. You have refined my talents while entertaining me with your wit. You have the perfect balance to relate with your audience with professionalism, yet letting it be real. It doesn't appear to be a show with only your crew, but you make us all feel like we're part of it by looking into the camera and talking to us! Of course, your sense of fashion and beautiful face just enhances the enjoyment. Thank you for each video gift. L.S.
I had 28 wonderful years with my husband Alvin who has gone to be with the Lord this year. My favorite memories are of Christmas time. Our first Christmas Tree was a real green tree. I hung white ornaments and added white individual twinkle lights (detest flashing lights). Every once in a while you would see white fluff on the tree (as if it had snow had fallen). From the ceiling I had opalescent glitter snowflakes coming down around the tree at varying lengths. Underneath the tree I placed gifts wrapped with white paper and green and brown ribbon.
This Christmas decorating video with your oldest son and his family was my favorite thus far! Beautiful family!
On our first Christmas, we used a gifted tree. My parents had bought a new artificial tree for themselves and gave us their old one.
Our topper was a bird's nest we had found one Sunday afternoon while walking in the park. We created a large paper bird to sit in the nest. In the end, with clear lights and red bows added, the tree turned out lovely in 1978. Over the years, we have collected hundreds of ornaments,none of which are paper. Although, we still have some of those birds hanging around in a box somewhere. Thanks for the memories & Merry Christmas!
Thank you!
@samiamisme
I know right... a couple of days is what it took but mostly because of the stops for real life stuff... like diaper changes, meals and playing with the kids throughout :-)...
Usually I'm not into Christmas trees that have traditional colors, but this one changed my mind. I want THAT tree! It turned out SO beautiful!!! 😍😍😍
@risel Blanco
Well thats a very nice compliment.
Marie
Thank you @zachtownsend1
I think newly married couples who are in the same position as you were back then will find comfort in your creativity.
Maria das Santos beautiful story!! Merry Christmas from the US!!
So cute
I took graphic design many years ago and am amazed at how well it applies to interior design also. I have watched all your videos and my christmas decorations are starting to look like they came out of magazines because of listening to and following your advice. I am starting to get friends and family asking for me to come decorate their homes. Thanks Rebecca and you have a lovely family.
@Amy Hoffmann
Wow Amy, Thats so cool. I'm happy for you. Thanks for letting me know our videos have been helpful for you :-) RR
XXOO
Barb Nauman thank you for your kind words!
@Martha Gonzalez-Buitrago
Awwww Thats so sweet.
@Mirah Carter
I love the idea of placing your vintage ornaments in a glass vase. Thank you for sharing your story with us Mirah. RR
Great way to finish off the week-a surprise "meeting" your other son and his family! Thank you for sharing your family with us Rebecca! Beautiful 🌲 and such precious little ones! 😊
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful#worship#family#decor#blessings#❤️🎄❤️
This is my absolute favorite video you have done. In my 7 years of watching! Also love the worship song!!
So adorable! I love the traditional style and colors! Their house is warm and cozy!🌺
You helped them to have the magic of Christmas in their home....it turned out beautifully!
Man, you guys are so talented! Just when I thought it was just decorating...Jimmy can SING! praise Jesus!
@Linda Elliott
Thats a sweet memory Linda.
@Cards Are My Canvas
Thank you hon. I agree, their home is very much them :-) RR
I love this tree! I love that you can still see the green tree 🌲 and all their decor has sentimental value! 🥰
@Donna Doble-Brown
I know right...
Love everything and the music!! Your son is such a talented musician! Love your Christmas decorating style!! Thanks for sharing!
Love, love the music of Jimmy and the Worship Band...great harmonies. The tree is adorable. Amazing what can be done and learned with expert help. Precious family, Rebecca. Thanks for sharing. God's richest blessings to you all...Christ is born!
@Karen Helser
I'm so glad you liked Jimmy's bands rendition of Joy To The World. Its available as a FREE download here: maranathachapel.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/JoytotheWorld.mp3
C G thank you for your kind words!
Love, Carl
@Carl Coglianese
You are too cute! Yes, I have given Jimmy and Emili all the things we used in their home. Its what moms do ... right! RR
@Sofia Dragini
Thank you.
The tree is gorgeous! What a lovely family you have.
So Blessed thank you for your kind words! Blessings!
@Laura Powell
You are welcome Laura.
She’s so lucky to have you! It comes so natural to you!!
I was raised in a cult so I didn't have a Christmas until I was 21 with my husband. We had a tiny tree and bought Dollar tree ornaments because we didn't have much money. But we had SUCH lovely time. Now we have gorgeous decorations I've collected over the last few years.
Tiffani Vandermark woah a cult?
@Tiffani Vandermark
I think its safe to say, were all glad you are in a better place now and can experience the joy of Christmas. Hugs Tiffani, RR

The tree looks gorgeous and your grandchildren are so precious!
Wow! Congratulations and love from India! We celebrated our 25th last year!
this lovely couple should have a youtube channel.
Aww, it turned out beautiful! My first Christmas married, we had a Charlie Brown Christmas tree and I loved it too.
ززووززووةو و ةووه ة😆😇😨😨😨😨😇😇😳😳😳😳😳😵😵😵🙉🙉🙉🙉👩👩💑💑
Love Jimmy singing in the background Christmas songs, I also really like the tree it is more my style of decorating. GOOD JOB!!!!!
@Nancy Staggs
I'm so glad you liked Jimmy's Christmas music. Its available for FREE!

How wonderful that you have such a great family and your sons voice is full of grace! I love your videos! How on earth do you do it!!! Beautiful!
Sheri H thanks so much for your kind words! Merry Christmas!
Beautiful Christmas tree, fireplace area, music, and family! Loved this one!
Your children are so blessed to have you for a mom. Their lucky to learn so much from you since you are the best decorator ever...⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️
Love, Love, Love! Beautiful Tree and beautiful family! Thank you for sharing.
@Jay Jops
Sounds dreamy.
I cant believe that turn on and off like this.. it's magical!
@Eorl C
Thank you. It was really fun to include them this year!
I'm so glad you liked Jimmy's Christmas music. Its available for FREE!

Robeson Design Thanks very much, Rebecca. Wish you and your family a blessed Christmas.
Tish #SF

Loved "getting to meet" Jimmy Robeson and his beautiful family. Thanks for sharing this lovely and inspiring video.
@Stepher 63
Thats a beautiful tradition and your children are very fortunate! RR
Oh my gosh, this whole project of decorating with the kids is so adorable! They are so incredibly lovely!!!!😍😍😍
And as always..thanks to Dorien!! SF!
What a cute family! And the guy DID make a house call! And that gadget he gave the kids is soooooo cool!
The tree was beautiful.
