75 years ago, an imperfect but virtuous nation's citizens gave their lives, their fortunes, and burnished their honor by defending our United States and its allies and defeating those who would destroy the human spirit. Innovation, courage, determination -- all of those things are reflected in these beautiful airplanes built long ago and the pilots who fly them today, both young and old. We are blessed to part of this history and I am deeply grateful to all who made this living, flying memorial happen.
@Dean Green ignorance spoken with such passion. When you speak of liars remember the deception the WhiteHouse has perpetrated on the american public and the cost they're now dealing with in cases of covid-19 within the west wing and beyond. Couldn't happen to a nicer group. Maybe they will listen to Juan now. He has articulated the risks so well for theses last 7 or 8 months and has kept his comments completely apolitical. What brings you here to rant?
What an AWESOME video! Got me emotional. Perfect images, take angles, zooming in and out, close ups, sequence shots, editing. WOW! impeccable music choices too! Congratulations to everyone responsible for making this video! THE CHAMP! THE BEST! and how nice it is to see pilots flying taildraggers the way taildraggers was meant to be flow! Yes, full runway speed first, fuselage lined up horizontal to the runway, then pull the bird up. Real taildraggers pilots! That's how we should fly a taildragger! So nice to see many of them doing that! EPIC! Long live this memory!
Thank you Juan, for sharing this. This is hands down the most beautiful and stirring tribute to WW2 aviation I have ever seen. Two B-29’s in formation!😍
This is what it's all about. Beautiful aircraft! And what they do! The aerial footage is amazing! Aircraft like these, should NEVER be forgotten! I could watch this forever. Wish I was there in person. What a rush! More, pretty please.
Beautiful War Birds over Beautiful Virginia Countryside. Great photos, just wish I wasn’t out of town last week. I watched a few of these five year ago land at Culpeper and watched others take off out of Manassas. Wonderful.
Much of the air to air video was taken from the tail of B-25 “Panchito”. Chris Rose and Josh were crammed together in the tail for more than an hour to get these great shots. Give credit to them and the great pilots that flew up close behind the B-25.
STUNNING SHOTS !!!! Fantastic job. This video captures the true beauty of the planes in action and angles that are 11O% timeless. These pictures will out live us all. Owners, please take care of your timeless works of art. God Bless you all.
This video reminds me why I started my career in aviation, the love of keeping these airplanes flying. I have been fortunate to work on some of these planes, and meet some of the amazing people who fly, and maintain them. They preserve history, and keep the memory of those who fought and died alive. They are truly a talented bunch. Watching this video brought tears to my eyes and made me proud to be an American. The power and might of a "united" America is unstoppable! Kudos to AOPA, this video makes me pleased to be a member. Dues are on the way....
My god. Thank you so much to all involved! Pilots, maintainers, owners, supporters. That has to be some of the most amazing footage of these amazing aircraft that I have ever seen. Awesome pilotage by all. Unbelievable videography. And it wouldn't have happened unless so many had volunteered and sacrificed at many levels. Great thanks is all I can offer.
Thanks so much for sharing Juan, that is one of the greatest flights of war birds I have ever watched. Great to see Kermit Weeks' birds stretch their wings as well as seeing "Doc & Fifi" together. I didn't see any B-17's? By the way, I was a C-141 crew chief at Travis AFB from 91-96. I earned my PPL at Travis Aero club. I would like to think that I might have flown a cargo run with you via the 7th AS. I appreciate All you do. God Bless
Love watching the old warbirds flying. I to am an Air Force Vet 81-87 and have always had a fascination with planes. Kind of passionate about the Buffs B-52 and have flown in the c-141s as a passenger to many times to count. Keep up the good work on the videos and hope you do well on your check ride
Absolutely outstanding. Gave me chills watching it. Many gave all they had to keep the world free from absolute tyranny and evil. These birds are a living memorial to all involved in that endeavor. Many thanks to those who keep them flying.
The capture of these war birds is terrific. A small graphic identifying the birds would have been appreciated. I recognize many, but age and memory loss deprives me of others. If possible, please re-edit and name the planes. P-51, DC-3, Navy TBM, the Catalina, Gull Wing Corsair, and the like are known, but some of the others are forgotten. Brings back some wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing.
I understand your instinct, but I respectfully disagree about the suggestion of captioning the video. The images are lovely, almost like paintings, and I love them just as they are. If people want the names of the aircraft added to the video, I'd prefer these be placed in a list at the end, as sort of a "credits" section. As for the names you were curious about, FWIW I'll offer the following suggested identifications, with the locations where they first appear: various versions of the Piper Cub and, possibly, the similar Taylorcraft, :10; de Havilland Tiger Moth, :25; Boeing-Stearman Model 75, :38; North American T-6 Texan (known as the Harvard when used by the RAF, RCAF and other Commonwealth air forces), 1:25; PBY, 4:10; B25 4:54; Hawker Hurricane 5:00; Supermarine Spitfire 5:08; North American P-51 Mustang, various marks, mostly P51-D’s, but at least one configured as a B, 5:46; Grumman Wildcat, 6:12; Bell P39 Airacobra/P63 Kingcobra (those more expert than me will know which of the siblings it is), 6;33; de Havilland Mosquito, 6:44; Grumman Avenger, 8:17; Douglas A26/B26 Invader, 9:46; Chance-Vought Corsair, 11:18; Douglas DC3/C47, 11:51; B29, 15:00
Man do I miss flying so much. The Stearman - slow, very maneuverable, graceful, and an absolute joy to fly. Please keep the old ladies in the air because there is nothing like them. And that goes for aircraft up to the 50s.
What a magnificent video, I was surprised to see TWO B-29s flying in formation, the only two airworthy airframes in the world. But the crowning moment was watching the De Haviland Mosquito take off. I only wish there had been some footage of it in flight as well. Perhaps the ONLY thing positive that can be said of the Axis powers during WWII is they made possible - and necessary - the production of some of the most wonderful, beautiful, powerful, and unique aircraft the World has ever seen. Thank you for the wonderful video!!
Never knew there was a flightworthy Catlina ! The "Wooden Wonder" Mosquito was the equivalent of the F-15, one of if not the best aircraft design of its time. High performance, manoeuvrable, large payload, long range, high ceiling. Fitting tribute to all who participated in WW2.
Photography was amazing, music was great would've have loved to hear the engines at takeoff. To all those that serve and especially those that gave their all we owe you a debt that we can never repay.
Okay, so P-51's, Spitfires, F-4U's, B-25's, T-6's are almost common, but where did you get all those other aeroplanes? Some of them are rarer than rocking horse manure! A Hurricane? It isn't our one and only Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Hurricane, so where did you get it? The PBY? I thought they were all gone now? The P-39? I've only ever seen one - at a CAF base in Texas (along with a B-25) A Mosquito! I know there's a flying one in New Zealand and I think we've got one flying one, but they are truly rare. I definitely had to look up the A-26 Invader, because I've never seen one and I'm not sure we saw them in Britain at all? And to see Doc' and Fifi in the air at the same time (and close together) is just stunning!!! I know I've forgotten something, but that was just amazing. One tiny gripe. It would have been nice to have heard them - without the stirring music. I was stirred and I turned the sound off.
@Roger Whittle I too was surprised to say the least, to see a PBY Catalina "in full technicolor" ! I thought there were no surviving examples, let alone in flight condition. The Wooden Wonder is a beautiful plane.
@@michaelhogan667 Wow! Respec'! To be trusted to fly one of the world's rarest and most iconic aeroplanes must be really awesome. I love the Spitfire, as does everyone with an aviation soul, but even I know people who have been up in one of the two seaters we have in Britain. Hurricanes though, are very rare. Having said that, Wikipedia tells me there are about seventeen flying examples around the world - eight of them in Britain! Flying in that Balbo must have been quite a nerve wracking aviation challenge? But I guess no-one involved will forget it?

No. Most of it was shot from a helicopter, and it is impossible to capture natural sound from a chopper. It was either 16 minutes of silence or setting it to music, which is what I did.
Nice video, but It would be much better with the original sound software the planes. Probably not possible with drone noise though. Love the old planes.

Only one word comes to mind: FANTASTIC 👍
These are the sons and daughters and grandchildren of the WWII Veterans. 👍

Brilliant video would love to hear the engines wothout background music though
Helicopters don't have microphones, and if they did all you'd hear is the rotors.

It would be incredible! Audio on the runway at takeoff!!!

I am hoping to find a listing of the aircraft as they depart as well.
