you are a very good master🙏🙂👏🤝👍👨🔧 - i would love to watch this video in normal speed I repaired the same machine today 64 30 🙃🙂 - the plastic apparatus that lowers and raises the thread was broken - I made a stronger spherical apparatus from the yellow maze - actually I am a jeweler master 👨🏭🙈
Just kinda floated onto this Video...wow! Anyway, I have a question, with the age of some of the better machines its hard to find parts for them. I was on the phone with three different parts houses & Husqvarna trying to locate a "Pressure Bar Lifter" for the 1997 Viking 1200 1+ have yet to find one. The Husqvarna Rep for my area that has serviced several of my other Husqvarna's says these parts are no longer made. Is it possible to find these parts...this is a work horse and the machine will run & sew you just have to spin the wheel as you press down on the foot pedal then you are off, but if you turn the machine off you have to do the same thing everything you turn it back on. any suggestions?! thanks Sandy
Ive owned this model since new. 1970’s. It worked great until it didn’t. I probably pushed it too hard and got the timing off when I got a canvas stuck in it. I didn’t know how to fix that then. It’s been sitting in its case for years. I brought it out and the hand wheel broke off when I tried to move it. I can not find its replacement anywhere. Nor do I know how to fix the problem of it seizing up. Can you help a girl out?
We can find you a hand wheel. The seizing up is a time consuming project. That is what I did in these, "Will it Sew," videos. You must take it completely apart wash it in solvent, lubricate and then adjust everything as you put it back together. Expect this to take all day even if you are experienced. We do this for customers but it is not an inexpensive service. Our bench rate is $65/hour.
So neat to see this, but it is way beyond my capacity for fixing! However, I just got a 6430 for free at a yard sale because the plastic hand wheel on the right hand side was broken off (cracked) and the needle does not move when the machine is plugged in because of this broken knob , although it seems willing to wind a bobbin, and all of the other parts seem in tact. Just wondering if it seems possible to get it running again, could I find a replacement for that gray plastic hand wheel on the right? Thanks
@@electrichospital Thank you so much for responding, I actually ended up finding someone through ebay who is a retired Viking technician, who fixes + rebuilds machines, I wrote to him and he wrote back quickly with a list of things to test on the machine, I think I am going to send the machine to him to take apart and clean up the way you did in this video, he seems passionate about the old machines and like he is just wanting to help people with their machines, everyone on ebay who left him feedback said only positive things, and I always want to support those kinds of people, you seem the same way from this video:)
Many things can keep it from turning. I start by disconnecting parts until it moves. Start with removing the hook, check the fixed cam is not cracked, look for thread under the handwheel. If you don't find it with these easy checks then try to isolate if I is the upper or lower shaft. There are 3 set screws on the timing belt pulley that when loose will allow the upper shaft to turn.
I have a lightly used 6430 that started running on its own while plugged in. Smoke and a bad smell came out of it before it was unplugged. I assume the motor is dead. I see listings for used motors online. Is replacement very complicated? I'm reasonably handy.
Sorry you are having a problem with your machine. The dealer that told you that is probably not right. I suspect you have a blow capacitor. This is a simple low cost solution. Take off the back cover, Remove the blown capacitor on the terminal board clean up the smell and your machine will work, The capacitor was part of an electric filter to reduce noise on your old radio when the machine was running. As they age the insulation fails and shorts out. This lets out a cloud of smoke and either runs the machine full time or just burns and goes out causing no harm. You don't need it and some dealers use it as an excuse to sell you a new machine or expensive repair. Then go give me a great review on google. LOL. Call if you need more help. Have a great day.
@@electrichospital I am glad I found this video. I have the exact problem with one I got recently. Will try your solution soon. Thanks for sharing your knowledge !
I have a HV 6000 Model #6020. It was sewing fine but the zigzag stopped working. Took it to a repair man. First he said a tension screw was missing and replaced it. Then he said the cam for zigzag was cracked and replaced that by watching a RUclips video. Well the zigzag still won't work and he says he has given up. He now says the buttonholder could the be the problem; but I have never used the buttonholder, and he says because I didn't it gums up. Does that sound right to you? You contacted me, ( your really are wonderful) and said he could call you which he did but still couldn't get it to zigzag. I'm thinking I should just send it to you.
Hi Joe, I love your video and these really are great little machines. I have a 3600 model with a cracked cam stack gear. The gear section is fine but the crack seems to be impairing its ability to float up and down in response to stitch change. I am having major difficulty in locating a replacement cam stack for this. Do you have any ideas? Thank you! Rob
@@electrichospital Thanks Joe! I'm not sure what you mean by fixed cams but can you please direct me to a source? Mine is actually functional it just doesn't slide on the shaft due to the distortion from the crack and the light spring.
Hi Joe. I bought a viking 6430, I cleaned and oiled it. It sews very good but it's making clinking noises. I found out that the presser bar lifting too high is the reason for the noise. How can I adjust it so that it stops doing this. Please, I need your HELP.
I am confused what is hitting the presser bar. I would check the slide crank. If you hold the take up lever as you gently turn the hand wheel it should not have any play or sponginess. I would also look for a crack in the fixed cams.
To remove the back cover after loosening the screws.. This may help with how to replace the fixed cam. I do have some if you need one. ruclips.net/video/G455Z1y1ul4/видео.html
The worm wheel is usually OK. You can inspect it for wear. If you prevent the top shaft from moving you can check for excessive play by twisting it with the fixed cam removed.
@@electrichospital Thanks a lot for the advice. I read somewhere that if you don't replace the worm wheel then the timing might be off. Would this be a problem?
The timing is a function of the relationship of the upper and lower shaft connected by the linen lugged belt. That adjustment is done on the lower shaft that has the lug belt. What may need to be adjusted when replacing the fixed cam is the timing of the Zig Zag. The needle needs to have completed the swing before it touches the fabric. You can check when the needle is at the lowest point the cam follower is centered on a lobe of the fixed cam. You adjust that by turning the gear on the upper shaft that engaged the worm wheel. That's a lot of explaining. I hope it helps.
I have a #6020 and the thread take up lever hits the frame of the sewing machine at high speed making a terrible knocking sound . Should there be any play in the thread take up lever?
No you may have a cracked slide crank. Or you may have thread around the shaft. If you can remove the back cover and see where the take up lever is driven by a bar in a plastic holder of a bushing. The plastic cracks around the bushing and needs replacement.

There are after market fixed cams available if your glue fails.
