Buffy, Hello, I have been chasing my style ever since I started painting about 6 years ago. I am a retired goldsmith and jewelry designer. Perfection was necessary in my line of work and unfortunately I have carried that with me into my painting. I started was botanicals naturally, lol, they drew me in because of the comfort of perfectionism. Now, it’s become a curse in that looking back it’s so limiting! I find that the painting I’ve done over the past few years that I loved and enjoyed is loose. In one class I took I used Raul Dufy as an inspiration for a few of my paintings. I loved it, the colors, the freedom, etc. I want to let go and every time I take a class I find I am attempting to paint like the instructor, and creating things that aren’t me, they are them! I love your work, it’s freedom, and so inspirational and beautiful! I will follow you anywhere, and maybe initially copy you, but allow your example to expand my horizons, in color and form!!! Thank you Buffy! PS. I even love watching your left handed-ness because I can actually see what you are doing!
thank you for sharing this excerpt from your art journey, so happy our paths have crossed. Many of the lessons listed here and in the memberships section are designed as skill building. So the background pours are not considered a copy but a skill. The way I use my round brush to lay in a line of color and then use an angle shader brush to blend it out, a skill. So hopefully you will grow your loose watercolor tool kit and not feel you are copying as much as developing your style with some take aways from these videos. So happy to get to know you here on this RUclips channel and would love to see some of your finished paintings. bk@watercolorpour.com
I love your work and videos. I can't paint right now because my son is very ill and needs constant supervision, he slept in this morning and got to watch this video. Just in case you didn't know, you add a little bit a peace to the world, at least to my world and I am so grateful.
Trish, I am sorry to hear your son is sick, they are an extension of us, therefore its as if we too are sick if they are. Will be sending prayers for recovery and wellness to both your son and to you as a caretaker. I have found art can extend far beyond paint to paper, we can journal our thoughts with sketches, there is beauty in simplicity, that warm cup of coffee, or a bird singing outside the window, the way light dances across the room as the sun rises and falls, I pray that your heart is comforted and that your resolve is strengthened.
My favorite background is this one-the bluish green on my phone. I learn so much watching you draw and 😮paint. Love the “happy dance”😆.You are a wonderful person for sharing your painting adventures with all of us. Thank you.😮😊
I loved them both but I think the bluish background has the edge for me, but I think that’s a spiritual thing. I could watch you negatively paint all day long. My most favourite painting technique. Thank for sharing and being a joy in my life. 🤩
I think I've watched almost all of your works on RUclips. You are one of my favorites to watch. I don't know whether I love your videos more for your work or for just how you come across as a person. To your question, I think I like the violet background a little better than the green but they are both beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your gifts with us. You are a treasure. (And I love to hear you talk about your walk with the Lord.)
Tryphena, thank you for this encouragement in art and in the Lord. 💙 Romans 11:36 has been a life verse for a while now, so so good to register with it over and over. Thank you again for taking the time to comment.
Wow. Stunningly beautiful. I really love the composition. I love to watch your process in creating. Patience! I’m really curious as to what brand of tape you use. I use a lot of water too and often have lifting. Also-is your green thalo or veridian?
Thank you Mary, Prussian Green with Transparent Red Oxide, I use the Pro Artist tape - you can find many of my supplies on my Amazon Influencer Art page: www.amazon.com/shop/watercolorpour
I love this painting. I can't wait to try it. Did you lightly draw in the flowers so you would know where not to add water? I love that you used a magenta/pink color to accent the centers and work as a bridge for the yellow. I haven't learned how to do much negative painting yet. How do you know where to negative paint around the leaves. Thanks
Yes I did, a very light pencil drawing. Starting out with negative painting you can use the reference photos to choose where to put the leaves, but often times I make up where I think the leaves would look best for negative painting. I like the design/ composition to have a flow so will often use the leaves to enforce that.
Good question! I do not stretch my paper, but tape paper down with artist tape to a Robax Board, it has a slight texture to it and seems to keep the tape adhered well, minimal buckling at this size. It will also depend on the paper you are using, this paper withstands a lot of water.
Both pieces are gorgeous, but I think I like the green one a little better. I may have missed this but was wondering what colors you used for this piece. Your work is AMAZING!!
Thank you Linda, here are the colors used for mixes: Hansa Yellow Light, Transparent Red Oxide, Quinacridone Magenta, Pthalo Turquoise, Pthalo Blue Red Shade
Thank you Lisa, here are the colors used for mixes: Hansa Yellow Light, Transparent Red Oxide, Quinacridone Magenta, Pthalo Turquoise, Pthalo Blue Red Shade
Yes I loosely wet the paper with my hake brush around the flowers, then poured the puddles with the pipettes, this allows as I carve in around the flowers for all the colors to blend and move across the wet sections. You can see better where at 1:57 - hope this helps and happy painting
I prefer the green background, it is in keeping with the flowers . A harmonious oneness

Thank you, so informative to just watch! I loved the hairdryer dance break, too 😂
You are so welcome! 🤗
Beautiful example of negative painting I have ever seen

Thank you Nancy! This painting made me happy to paint
Beautiful ❤️

Thank you Marion, for watching and taking the time to share kindness 💛
Awesome effects, I can't imagine taking out those leaves negatively in the end😢😢
Very nice once you get the hang of it, relaxing way to paint, and for me easier than painting leaves directly
Beautiful, the color combos are amazing. TFS 🩷
Thank you!
Wow. Hypnotic to watch. Amazing. Green is my fave. CHEERS to creativity!
Yes, Cheers to Creativity 🥂! Love that
Amazing combination of colour. I like both examples!
Thank you Christine

Really nice techniques and great results, thanks for sharing.
Thank you John - hope your day is going good, take care
Beautiful - love them both. So soothing to watch you paint~
Thank you Monique
love them both 💖
I like the purple background over the green, but only by the tiniest margin.
Thank you Squishy! ❣️

I like the green better.
Thank you Rae Lynn

Enchanting! Can you explain how and where you wet the paper before you dropped in the first puddles? I thought I saw a sheen on the paper...
Yes I loosely wet the paper with my hake brush around the flowers, then poured the puddles with the pipettes, this allows as I carve in around the flowers for all the colors to blend and move across the wet sections. You can see better where at 1:57 - hope this helps and happy painting
@@watercolorpour thank you!
What kind of paper are you using?
