It’s like Montreal defense was still at the hotel… they weren’t reading a thing the wingers and strikers were doing. Just opening up the space for them, the defending in MLS has to step up. It’s not a ton of strikers in the league that are so good that they can open up space like it’s nothing like Alexander Isak, or Lewandowski.
Defending across MLS has historically been very poor, but over the past 4-5+ years, more teams have been putting greater emphasis on it. Also, I wouldn't say Montreal's defense is indicative of the entire league. They're currently dead last in the Eastern Conference and are 1-0-4 on the season so far, there's plenty of other MLS teams with better defenses.
While the win was a much-needed ripper - the league's decision to move TV coverage to Apple-TV from the established TSN means fewer people will see their product.
Not much fewer as MLS audience levels on TSN were quite low. Aside for a couple years around 2016-17, MLS never got casuals watching in Canada. Same situation in the US which is why it is on Apple TV+.
@@cephalopods True - but I believe my point still stands - and it was even mentioned on a recent version of Donny and Dhali. I might watch a game on TSN which I already pay for - I'm not going to pay even more money to watch on Apple. There is payment fatigue as there are far, far, far too many streaming channels all trying to put their hands into our pockets.
Vanni Sartini planned a tactical assassination of Montreal- the scoreline doesn’t even reflect how far off this game was (yes, Vancouver dominated Montreal that bad). That being said, I have a hot take- I think Montreal should move on from Rudy Camacho. He averages three red cards a season IN MLS (not including other competition, where he still gets a red in both) and picks up several suspensions on a rate worse than prime Sergio Ramos. He is unreliable as he is Montreal’s most important defender, and they don’t have a viable plan B. So, go out and invest in someone that doesn’t play like a maniac and knows how to defend without fouling.
There's only 5 games to this season, relax bud CF Montreal finished 2nd last year and lost their most valuable players in the off season Many other teams come to mind for relegation - If only MLS would implement it !
@G d F How you do one thing is how you do all things. Stay unemotional and follow the logic of what you see with that franchise. Columbus is looking righteous with Nancy. Montréal's loss.
Maybe the April fool is that they were tricking everyone by starting off bad when they're actually this good or vise versa (they're pretending they're this good when they're not), never know until the season ends 🤷♂️😑😒
CPL is a growing league, I am sure you never watched one game. I am hoping for a team here in Quebec. Fun to watch, and has a bunch of Canadian players ready to make the jump!
@@lorenzobordignon6997 Maybe in the future but in all the games against Montreal the CPL has not won a home an away series or game once vs CFMTL, and Montreal gave a similar humiliation to the CPL's best team last season when they got drummed bad by CFMTL and looked almost like school kids on the pitch vs CFMTL a bit like how Montreal did tonight vs Vancouver. But yeah they are real bad this season and I dont find we are tactically smart either. If we dont play a high line and play right into Vancouvers strengh, we avoid the red card, and certain of the goals and the game would be tight and we would have a chance in the game, but no we play a high line vs a team that likes to send long balls in behind and have a smart forwards that makes good runs in behind, and that are good at exploiting space in behind with quick and swift passing passing plays as well (not only with long balls), and we get killed, if they started parking the bus and hitting on the break with Quioto, buying a few more talented players offensively, and a few tall defenders, and stopped taking so much risks playing out of the back, because that is another thing that caused many goals and killed us, we would get results. Sad that a fan sees this but not the club.
how is that a straight red card, the whitecaps player didn't even have the ball under his possession or control of it in any way, bogus call really, watch the replay again at about 0.5X speed from 1:01. You will notice comacho begins tugging on Becher's jersey about 5-8 meters before bechers enters the penalty area, at which point bechers theatrically throws himself to the ground, but the referee should have called the foul from the point of first contact, which was long before either player enters the penalty box, also, bechers never controls the ball, so the foul should have been called much sooner. finally the call seemed to ruin the integrity of the matchup severely
@@fifasimulation8460 you are correct, it would have been a second yellow. Of course the referee didn’t have to give a second yellow there, but thank you none the less for your input. You are right that he was on a yellow card initially. In the World Cup, the france player got pulled down and the Argentina player was the last man and he wasn’t even given a yellow. 100% send-off for Denial of an Obvious Goalscoring Opportunity (DOGSO). DOGSO outside the penalty area is ALWAYS a red card, as is DOGSO by holding. You have to notice that becher is in 1v1 and it would have been a goal if Camacho didn’t make the tackle therefore making it denial of a obvious goal scoring chance making it a red even if it wasn’t a shirt pull is always a yellow so he would’ve been off anyways

@@henrybrown3890 yeah, but a straight red is dubious, the Becher's doesn't even have possession of the ball and clearly dived as the tug on his shirt from comacho literally grabbed him about 8 meters from the penalty area, bechers literally runs into the box and as soon as he noticed he was in the box and the goalkeeper was about to pounce on the ball, he falls over, watch at 0.5X speed from about 1:01 plus it severely impacted the result of the game, a free kick and a yellow would have been sufficient. also, the tug began about 6 meters from the penalty spot, so the correct decision should have been free kick from the point of contact, if you noticed the reply, the whitecaps foreward literally falls as soon as he gets into the penalty area, but the tug on his jersey began about 4-5 steps before that, which to me indicates a dive
