I had a guy buff himself to infinity & beyond, hit me with a sleep bolt volley, slept me instantly & killed me in about 5 seconds. 1st & only time I’ve seen it & I couldn’t tell if I was supposed to be impressed or depressed.

had an invader do this with sleep bolts but instead of a bleed or frost he used the eclipse shotel.... yes it did prock death build up even when I rolled the bolts

Anyone know if this works with swapping to the eclipse shotel and using its AoW? Would the phalanx then have death blight build up?
Yeah you can Seppuku too if you want, basically any weapon buff on right hand and go nuts!
I used this with bloodflame build up on my right weapon and st.trinia torch on my left and it did both sleep and the fire bleed build up when I did the torche's fire breath attack.
Since you say that you don't like broken or exploitative stuff I probably shouldn't tell you that there is a glitch to make it so this crossbow deals as much damage as the cannon, with every projectile.
You simply equip the jar cannon in your right, the crossbow in your left and the finger to leave messages where you normally have your crimson tears. Load and hold your crossbow and press to use the finger, in my case it's L1 and then X, quickly press B to dismiss the message window and you'll see some nice damage.
you could also use the barbed bolts sold by the merchant in mohgwyn palace for even more bleed build

Thats what i have used for my bleed build but with Ash of War: Glintblade Phalanx on my right hand and the blades that get spawned gets affected by the blood flame.

Using this crossbow with the poison katana and a cold wakizashi. Didn't know about the buff affecting bolts so I'll definitely try that soon!
monsieur, please reconsider your build; A scythe or halberd maybe? There *are* more dexterity weapons than just the different katanas… plus I’m not sure that any of them can actually reach A scaling anyway.

You can also run a Guts Sword instead of a dagger. It's crouching attack naturally combos into the triple shot.
All fine and dandy until you realize this works with the Eclipse Shotel. That specific combo was my first encounter with anything like this, and how I learned that this exists and really shouldn't.
I encountered this the other day and was impressed lol
Kinda sad but this sort of thing doesn't work for PS4 so yeah no crossbow cheese for me I guess

if you have to fight a fingerprint shield guy:
1. jump attack his head
2. circle behind him and poke really fast
3. spam bleed on him and don't let him poke spam you
4. spam things like fireballs at his feet
5. get him to run attack you (which drops his shield)
The pulley crossbow is how I beat Radahn without taking any damage my second Play-through add rot bolts and enjoy.
Same. I used rotten breath and poison bolts though
While we're on pulley xbow, If you have the pulley xbow in your main hand (but not two handed) and you have Greatbolts equipped, load your crossbow with your regular xbow bolts then jump and hit the button for your greatbolt ammo.
I did some testing and, even better than blood flame, this works with seppuku weapons in the right hand for crazy bleed.
I knew of this and I hoped no one would cover it, thank you for getting it fixed because this works on ashes of war as well
I think this is a perfect example of forgetting to check the “easy” things when you work on a complicated project. They allowed these incants to affect basically all damage output in multiple ways that we have seen at this point. I imagine this is just by having “player damage” or “enemy damage” instead of separating the sources of each attack.

I've discovered that this works with shields too, I bloodflamed bladed my weapon and shield crashed a monster and it did the bloodflame thing with the shield.
I like that you got straight to the point honestly, very broken but very cool and useful for ranged fights that a mostly melee character can use

Also btw this buff glitch even works with royal knight's resolve and it won't expend the buff on the right hand so you can use the power increase over and over. Broken with shield crash on a high dps shield
I guess since the cat's out of the bag, this trick also applies to godrick's grafted arm. Very easy to scale godrick's arm to deal massive damage with status effects and buffs.

Does the ash of war for that arm override the right hand ash if you wear the dragon arm on left hand? I assume it does since you can't 2 hand the grafted dragon. This trick seems to work with any left-hand gear that will override the right hand ash of war. So--shields, bows, crossbows, and the grafted dragon I guess. Normal bows don't work since you have to 2h them to attack and it undoes the buff.
This also works with royal knight's resolve and won't expend the buff btw.

That means sleep bolts without consuming a limited item!

Did anybody notice that the Vaik's Greatspear (skill) creates a 3-fingers flaming monogram on the ground? From the caster's view it's not clear but from the opponent's view apparently it is. At least it looks like it and it would be too much of a coincidence otherwise.

I love the pulley crossbow with sleep bolts for PvP, if someone’s being annoying spamming a broken Ashe of war or just using hella spells or incantations I just sleep em and run up on em with the melee madness

If you add arcane scaling. Leveling up arcane increases the rate of blood loss in your weapon.
2:15 funny to hear you say "theyre a backup weapon" when I just watched another youtuber do a bow and crossbow only run :'D He used the pulley crossbow too, but I dont think he knew about this weird buff affect, or I guess just couldnt use it anyway since he was *only* using bows and crossbows.
Iv been playing with a tanky mage build. Using 20 endurance and bull talisman. Let's alot of spells push through damage. Hammer of hanima works realy well in the build aswell. I'd recommend trying it out

You really need to try this and have a jar cannon in youe right hand. Somehow the damage applies, doing well over 5k a volley. Its crazy.
Have you tried to see if you can buff you main hand with no skill Aow and put a bow with rain of arrows in your left hand and seeing if the Aow will proc on hit effects
I am doing a play through using ranged weapons, one of which is the pulley crossbow. I am going to pick up the Black Flame Blade incantation and see how that works.
also works with a shield in the left hand if you use shield bash/crash. stupid broken if you have a bleed infused fingerprint shield and you can apply extra bleed, frost, sleep...even deathblight......
I learn things everyday by watching your guy's vids and reading the comments. I didn't realize this interacted with Seppuku or Eclipse Shotel. Sheesh. Fire's Deadly Sin all over again.
I actually hope they never patch this because I don't feel like it's OP, just as you said it just seems to make that crossbow more applicable as it's own weapon as opposed to just being used WITH something else.
In PVE yes. However in PVP you can use the Eclipse Shotel special and infuse the Bolts with Death Blight status. The only way to avoid the Death Meter from building his to move(not roll sideways) or BHS. Blocking or being hit when rolling will increase the Death Meter.
I've been using this with the Fire's Deadly Sin.

I don't play these games online, so can someone explain what that message that pops up on the screen every now an then means? The one that says "Someone in the group defeated a Shard bearer"
When you play online you have the option of putting in a group password. Anyone that has the same group password will see your messages and blood stains slightly differently same for yourself so you can tell it's someone that's using the same group password as you. The message is when someone in that group becomes Eldon lord. It gives everyone in that group a buff to rune experience gain just like the Erd tree blessing does.

This has been a bug since 1.04 and I have yet to use it... Crossbows are niche and less utility compared to bows like the serpent and pulley bows

It's worth bringing up that this works on great shields too.... Bloodfire on a spiked palisade and shield crash is... NASTY.
Bleed coating item would probably be stronger than bloodflame, as it has more bleed buildup than bloodflame

This is kinda like the dragon claw shield you can apply blood flame on ur weapon then bash an enemy and it will apply the status
if u set the fire on you self it work a same as crossbow too.
I use the pulley crossbow and marais executioner's sword fo a Slave Knight Gael cosplay. Never thought of using it otherwise, now it's got me thinking lol 🤔
I thought you guys weren't going to make builds on bugged mechanics like Fire's Deadly Sin + Bloodflame! This is an oldie but goodie, though. It really shouldn't interact with anything besides the weapon its buffed on. But hot damn, it makes crossbows viable for once. It isn't inherently broken, since sorceries can do the same or even greater ranged damage. Or Swarm of Flies, for what it used to be before the nerf. RIP But what makes this so good is that yeah, you don't need any damage stats since it doesn't scale on anything. Just pump Vit and End for heavy armor and you got a low level big tanky high damage ranged beast.
Yeah we'd never cover something game ruining etc, but this takes Crossbows from hot garbage to 'kinda good', it's not too oppressive and just fun really and I wanted to share how to make an awesome yet weak weapon category actually usable.

I used that crossbow and a bow and alot of bosses and enemies you can take out from range with 0 effort or fear. I used bows on almost every tree spirit cause they cant catch up to the horse lol.

No, because crossbows don't have any scalings. I believe the only bow/crossbow that actually gets increased bleed/poison scaling is Serpent's Bow because it has an ARC scaling.
Do you get both buffs if you Incant your right hand and use an Ash of war Buff? Or will one negate the other

I kinda hope they don’t fix this. Makes crossbows viable, and it’s fun mixing different combos together. Bloodflame cold bolts? Why not? Sleep death bolts, admittedly maidenless but fun to use against other maidenless players
Dragonscale Blade is pretty good for this. Does a ton of extra base damage and builds frost easily.

I couldnt believe how fast the fight happened, he teleported a few times but kept wiffing.
Mimic actually survived. He had 2 bloodhound fang R1 hits left b4 death after 99burred bolts, bloodflame, and white mask.

Mainhand buffs seem to effect off hand regardless, that’s why you can use the shield AOE heal with sudoku and shake your heart out

For some reason this does not want to work with me, bleed proc only comes every 3 shot fired if I’m lucky and even then doesn’t do as much damage
Bows and crossbows should get a minor buff for pvp. Except for the pulley cross bow it is fine where it is.
I would make a fair wager that this one is patched out as a bug eventually. If this were intended, all bows would likely be able to enchant their arrows/bolts in this way.
I whittled down and killed Caelids Oneal with this bow and annoyed a few invaders with the blood bolts. Such high aggro that all they wanted was to Rip me!
I have a flowing curved with seppuku, and it is MUCH better, within two bolts you get bleed, and it’s a much better buff for the normal weapons rather than blood flame. (please test it)
does this build scale with faith or arcane (Seppuku not Bloodflame)

This plus eclipse shotel.... yeah its nasty
People have since made videos on this, but another interesting weapon buff to use is the eclipse shotel to give arrows deathblight. Not suuuupeer effective though.
I'm gonna be honest, i keep getting reccomended these videos. I tried doing a arcane build and ended up disliking just how broken bleed was, so i used poison to specifically nerf myself, but the fun weapons all have bleed and it just kinda sucks. I don't like oneshotting bosses or making a joke of the enemies, and the enemies who were immune to bleed just were extremely annoying to fight. Video's like this that show off yet another overpowered application for the status and saying "it works good for pvp" when it just makes trying to pvp depressing for anyone not using the boring op bleed.. Then you have the fucking nerve to try and say the dude is a child for deciding he doesn't want to fight a bleed crossbow spammer. Real classy. I hope bleed gets fucking nerfed into the ground.

This is a cool extra addition for now but not really worth a full build around it cus just like the unrelenting frenzy glitch I loved, its gonna get patched. still, looks fun and I wish my bleed character had the str to add the pulley into his reserve weapons
