  • It is not really a kaleidoscope movement like that seen on the Ernest Borel Cocktail watches, but I do not know what to call it. There is a reflective piece that rotates underneath plastic cylinders that refract the light to create this fascinating effect. This type of movement was available in many watches, but this specific design was exclusively sold in the US Virgin Islands under many names, including Deluxe, Brichot, Lucerne, Orbit, Virgin Islands and Sparky's. Sparky's was a large shop in the US Virgin Islands that sold many things, including alcohol, and also had a jewellery section, in which these watches were sold. The watches were sold from the 1960s up until the 1980s and some people travelled to the Virgin islands just to buy them. The originals are all mechanical and later versions featured quartz movements. The quartz movements seem to be rarer. These are abundant and can be bought for very little.
