Maynard was a beast. If Louis was a beast he'd hold out that F# forever like Maynard did, not take shortcuts to avoid having to match Maynard's performance. Louis can pop out some high notes, he's not in the same universe as Maynard in his prime.
@@NotBroihon not close - MF in the 60's / 70's a monster - sat in on a few gigs ..... unbelievable. Louis top notch - smooth player - MF power personified.
@@doncorleone3829 You're right. My previous comment was kinda silly probably due to the fact that I was answering an even stupider comment. Yes, Maynard definitely was a beast, no doubts. Especially the younger Maynard.
Are you serious? Have you ever seen the score for this piece? All three back up trumpet parts of above the staff pretty much the entire time. Bb horns have tuning issues up in the altissimo/clarnio range, not much you can do about it other than try to bend the notes into tune, but the distance between the partials is so small it becomes a function of the length of the horn. In short, if you want this stuff completely in tune, they'd have to either use Pro-Tools. As for what Louie is doing, it's just short of amazing, there might be 100 trumpet player in the world that can play that chart with that kind of power. Bottom line, this is just the trumpet equivalent of bench pressing 500 lbs.
Seeing that nobody actually answered the question, it is a bach, the full details are on his instagram I think. The mouthpiece, if I'm not mistaken, is a GR Wayne bergeron studio or something from the GR Wayne Bergeron line
To be fair, they make no difference in range. If changing mouthpieces gives you more notes, than you rely on pressure and speed up tactics. Just play what you have, and it will be able to do this.
It's good but the intonation is an issue. I think part of it that it is always a bit better to be on the sharp side than the flat side of the pitch. And we are used to hearing that in most recording from great trumpet players. In my college band we consciously tuned just a tad sharp. It simply sounds better for the trumpet. Particularly the lead. If you are just the slightest bit flat... like 439 even... it is awful and our ears are just more used to the best players being 440+
The Louis Dowdeswell/Maynard Ferguson of singers: Cristina Ramos. She's an opera singer who sings rock also. Need to watch the first 2:40. ruclips.net/video/DRQ_kERSwJs/видео.html
Agee, this is not the best band. Tuning and power was not right. Sound eq also was missing a lot of lower mids. Sounded thin and harsh. Louis is amazing... Nails it hard every time.
Do you know the thing that really sucks. You are giving master classes or clinics on how to play the trumpet when you can’t decently play an Aruban study to save your life. Charlie. I’ll take the challenge with you mate.
He got no chops, really ....... I mean ..... just in the front cat....he steal the show and go home .... not true legend work ( as a lead on the trumpet section seats) plus.... very thin and boring sound.
It’s awesome he can sound like that, way louder than the band, while not playing directly into a mic like everyone else in the band. True talent.
ähm, he has an mic on the trumpet (you can see it clearly at 2:30, but still very, very cool)
One of the other trumpets sounds like he’s trying to play high to show off but can’t do it so it makes Louis look so much better when he saves it😂
Its terribly realous
( sorry im à noob in english )
- dreams - I agree, very realous
Yes he is mutsj better bekos he plees on an Adams trumpet
God this sounds like the whole middle School band messing around with those few exceptionally good ones
Ice Bear it sounds like when the jazz director isn’t there in high school 😂😂😂

Louis slays as usual but major props to the bone soloist -- was really fantastic!
Sigh. Reminds me of Maynard Ferguson! Love this! I played with him in high school with my jazz band when they were on tour! Great memories!
Louis is a beast. But seriously, this is tough to listen to with the intonation. Dude was lost during the flugel solo.

Props to the solo guy! Hard song to play! He s doing it effortlessly ! Only thing missing for me is that long high F# hold that Maynard used to do
Great sound Drums men!
Thumbs up to the drummer and tuba player!
I was thinking about the same thing ... Tuba player is fun to listen to 😁🎺🎼
Another top drawer performance. Great players

Not sure how they sounded live, but I dig the A432 feeling!
Louis (the chops) Dowdeswell...Outstanding! 🎺🎵🎶👍
Louis Dowdeswell's range is unbelievable!!!
Aristos Xanthus many trumpet players can play in that register, what it really depends on is whether they sound good like Dowdeswell or not.
Yo someone said they dig the A432 vibes
3:00 holy shit accidentals people
They snuck in a few accidental accidentals
Wow such effortless looking range.
Oh hey I don't remember writing this but I was thinking it again just now lol
Oh hey Eric and Eric! I keep coming back here thx Youtoobs.
I picked up my horn after several years, oiled the valves and slides.... played E above the staff.... still looking for G🤪
Louis ist really a beast good Job
Nobody saying anything about the drummer who went OFF
its actually not such a bad performance if you focus on him
Terrible intonation. I have chills :-D
Nice playing as always, Louis!!
“Louis carries trumpet section”
Louis Dowdeswell é o cara , sou fã dos seus arranjos, sua musicalidade é incrível ! Que solos de trumpet!! Parabéns seu fã brasileiro!!
Amazing video, but why does everyone sound so flat
Here's a hint at why this sounds so bad: count the number of black faces on the stage.
My guess. Poor intonation.
Bad microphone
Woody Thames what does that mean?
AESTHETIC AsTrOnAuTa he thinks white people cant play jazz.
Why is nobody talking about that dope trombone solo at 1:09 or that clean flugelhorn solo at 2:00
@Jake PAD lmao
@TrumpStrong58 and you can do better?
Or that drum solo
The trombone player forgot to hit the dominant chord at the end of the solo
Trombone player definitely slays. Him and Louis carried the ball
3:07 we Hear aaaahhh

BRAVISSIMO LOUIS ! WEITER SO ! SEHR GUT !
i swear the tuba sounds so flat
Not easy playing bass part on a tuba...he s a skilled player ..I enjoyed it 😁🎺🎼

High trumpet is very good, but others not so good. I suspect an amateur band.
Tim Harding what’s funny is that Louis (high trumpet) looks like the youngest person playing.
