- For this vlog I will taking you on a tour of Universal's Cabana Bay Resort, which has a retro 1950s and 60s beach resort theme. It contains two huge pools with the Lazy River Courtyard and the Cabana Courtyard.
For my trip I stayed in one of the standard rooms in the Bayside Tower overlooking Volcano Bay.
Also Included within the tour are Bayliner Diner, Galaxy Bowl, the game room arcade and the fitness centre.
Thank you for watching 😁👍

Best Water Park in Orlando? YES!!
The map in the bottom corner is a really nice touch. Great video!
Wow. That view is everything 😲. Amazing your and video again. They are very insightful and are great when thinking of future options 😃. Thank you👍
Thank you Jennifer 😁👍
Yes , it is the best water park in Orlando !
I change my mind a lot, leaning towards Aquatica at the moment.
O love this resort, it’s my Orlando favorite!!!
😁
Lol 2:55 but how is it possible that your key worked? Wauw what a view! 😃
they heard me trying to get in and came out to see what was going on 🙈😂
@@jayjack-orlando8410 😆 🤣
Great video as always, and as everyone’s already said: what a view!
Thanks Robert, shame I won’t be staying in one of the towers when I’m back there in May 😢
@@jayjack-orlando8410 tbh staying anywhere means you are going over there, so that’s always a bonus. Haha!
I love everything about this resort...except for one thing. With a family of 5, I wish there were the larger rooms in the towers overlooking Volcano Bay. Which, to answer your question, is the best water park in Orlando and maybe the world.
Agreed!
Yeah we’re gonna try and squeeze 5 people in the suites in May 🤪
Nice video - staying at Cabana Bay in block right beside the tower at the moment & definitely agree it's nice to have an inside room. Food is the big letdown here for sure but proximity to Volcano Bay & nice walk to the parks is perfect!
Yeah it’s a shame about the food. Think I’ll be tempted to make a walk over to sapphire falls and Aventura for the next trip in May 👍
Love Cabana Bay, can't wait for my next stay in September. Its a shame it looked grey and miserable when you were there.
Yeah hopefully I’ll get some better footage when I’m back in May. Thanks for watching 😁
Even for January, it looks deserted. When I went, which was also in January 2020, it was busier than this and you had to get up at 8-8:30 to avoid crowds in the Bayliner Diner.
Wow, the Starbucks has been totally revamped. It looked very different when I went, which was in Jan. 2020.
Jay, a quick note about the layout of the rooms at 14:15 - These were mean to imitate the style of beachside hotels that sprang up all over Florida in the 1950s. I stayed at one of the originals near Tampa about 20 years ago and the exterior is somewhat similar to the ones found at Cabana Bay.
Sadly, I don't think there will be a table service restaurant. The interior is styled after and meant to be run like the massive cafeterias that exploded all over the nation after World War 2. Many tourists seem to misunderstand how they are used.
1. You go to the dining options stations and order from any counters you see.
2. You can to to the right and grab extra items such as chocolate milk or juice.
3. Take it to the metal lined booths to pay (If you ask, they DO have hot tea in a serve tray under the cashier's station)
4. You can sit anywhere to eat.
5. When you finish, take EVERYTHING off your table and leave them in the tray but
6. You have to take the tray, cups and silverware to the counters in the middle of the dining area. That's where you leave all the used dishes for the cleaning crew to retrieve.
That's how it was done in the 1950s up to the 1980s when cafeterias started going out of business. When I was a child, my parents dined at Furr's, which was a nationwide cafeteria chain. They had standalone restaurants but seemed to mostly be found in shopping malls all over the country. Another example of a cafeteria chain is Luby's. I never saw those where I lived so I don't know if their food was any good. Furr's served everything: mash potatoes, beef, chicken, soup, scrambled eggs, bacon, you name it. And most importantly, it was well priced for a family of 3 or more.
Hi, thank you for sharing that. I was not aware of the cultural significance I must admit 👍
Great video, currently at cabana bay and it's check out day, would highly recommend the hotel to anybody 🤙🤙🤙
I’m heading back in May
@@jayjack-orlando8410, we are back to florida in August 🥵🥵🥵 are you doing a solo or family trip?
I’m doing 7 nights Hard Rock then 4 nights Cabana Bay. This has just put me off 😂 Didn’t realise they had outside rooms!
Unless they’re busy I reckon they’d upgrade you at check in for free.
Great video👍, we booked a volcano view room would we be in 1 of the towers?
Thanks
Thank you Ashley! Yeah you’ll be in one of the two towers 👍
Thanks for your reply and help, keep up the great work.
By tower, are you referring to the skyscraper by the pool? I don't know if that's where they'll put you. Last time I requested a volcano view room, they put me in one of the rooms on the top floor of the long wings the surround the pool area. The pool area is lit up well at night and they might light up the volcano at sunset. It's beautiful at night.
The BIG tradeoff is that it's a loooong walk to the elevator halls because you are walking half the length of the hotel to reach it. Cabana Bay is massive and it's easy to underestimate the amount of walking you might do so make sure you have everything you need for the theme parks before you even walk away from the door!
Forgot to add: the nice thing about the room key is it's contactless. You can leave it in your wallet and tap your wallet against the sensor to open it, handy if you have packages in your arms but Cabana Bay does pick up stuff bought in Universal for you to retrieve later. Ask the front desk about package dropoff.
Hi largol, I meant the 2 towers facing volcano bay, thank you for the info
Typhoon lagoon best water park
Hi Jay! How do your curtains open automatically? (and where is the button? Lol) we always stay at Bayside and have to manually open the curtains, would be nice to know if this was a feature!
I think it’s only a feature in the tower rooms. I’m in one of the external suites now and can’t see the option 👍
I’m here because I’m planning on going to Orlando this summer I haven’t been anywhere in 2 years due to pandemic and a coworker recommend this hotel to me I usually stay at the Rosen inn international next to the McDonald’s but wanted a change this year so I’m currently looking at online deals and this hotel fits my budget because it looks high end but is budget friendly
Sounds like a good fit 👍😁
Keep vlogging! For some reason, RUclips doesn't want to recommend your other channel.
Thanks for that 👍😁
I think these vlogs are quite niche compared to the main channel so not surprised that by the numbers tbh.
Is there a pool table at cabana bay says somknline but I didn’t see in video
I know they used to, but as the pool was closed they probably didn’t have them out.
Yes
Cabana Bay is the best place stay. We consider this our second home. The o ly times things are closed are due to weather. Best place to stay in Orlando.
Can you rent a cabana at the resort?
Yeah over on the Cabana Courtyard side, apologies for late reply!
Yyyyyyyeeeeeessssssssss,👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️💭
😁
Hello Jay, are you the Frugel Brit ?
I am indeed 👍👍
@@jayjack-orlando8410 😂 apologies as I only seen the end piece of the video and you explaining you were.
I sat down before dinner watching it and heard your voice, I shouted to my wife “I think he’s the Frugal Brit incognito”.
We only just finished watching the video, brilliant as always.
I think I’ve watched every single Frugal Brit video about Orlando etc 😆
I’ve booked for myself, my wife and 3 boys for Orlando this October, staying 3 nights Royal Pacific & 11 nights Cabana Bay. You have been a great help with advice, tips and money saving ideas as things seem to be getting more and more expensive.
Thanks again Jay and continue the great Vlogs and videos.
Richard 🤙
@@richardsfee thank you Richard, I love that 😂That trip sounds awesome!! Hope you all have a great time. I have two boys 🤪
@@jayjack-orlando8410 Hello again Jay, quick question if you can help.
I have a car hire booked for our second week in Orlando but I’m wondering what’s best/affordable/reliable for getting us from the airport to our universal hotel.
Mindful that we are a family of 5 with luggage.
Thanks
@@richardsfee you can get an Uber XL, which will probably be around 60-70 dollars I would expect. Think I’ll be doing the same in May 👍
It looks so deserted
I’m here now and it’s a day and night difference 😉
