Anil Rama the goat!! I love how he is willing to speak openly, if I lived in the United States I would 100% go with him. As a suggestion, I don't know if for other videos you could put time stamps, if you have the questions prepared in sequence it should be "easy" more or less to classify it and it can increase the engagement of your content. You may also have some viewers who are only interested in seeing some part of the video (for example only the sleep study part, the turbinoplasty part, or the expansion part, etc.)Thank you so much for making these videos cpapfriend, you have earned a subscriber
I'm going to try to get around to this today, regarding the timestamps. More than one viewer has made the request at this point haha. Thanks for the feedback
By far the best channel to sleep apnea. There is so much more to this than I originally thought. It is amazing. This guest is amazing. Please bring him back often.
Awesome interview, could listen to Dr. Anil for days. The way he talks on the subject is great, and you also have a fantastic method of interviewing mostly letting them speak and then waiting to ask the correct questions at the right time. Glad to have the recommendation from Reddit!
WOW!!! Another great interview…really really enjoy receiving out of the box thinking/knowledge on a better way to repair my “health life” as well as driving home that there is not one thing that will fix it all. Andrew also thank you for bringing forward your journey on correcting/improving your health and sharing it. My Best-Frank
another great vid. this is one of the best interviews ive seen for this field. i really appreciate how you arent selling something, unlike other sleep apnea youtubers.
Thanks for the feedback. Well, to be totally honest, I do market the one-on-one consultations, but yeah, I do try to keep it light. I figure if people are in great enough need, they will come to me; I shouldn't need to motivate them.
Please ask him for us that are not able to see him how do we find the doctors that do rTMS and the other treatments that he does overseas? How do I find a doctor that is willing to use rTMS on me even though it is only approved for depression treatment. Are there studies testing the effectiveness of it for sleep apnea patients?
I would like to know what are the different absolutely needed elements (like sensors etc.) that must be used in a well done polysomnography, in order to detect RERAS for an RDI and diagnose UARS. In Spain, in private and public labs, they are only doing polysomnographies with oral/nasal thermistors, which have been proved totally wrong for diagnosing more things than OSA… Of course that they are not using esophageal manometries, but neither pneumotachographs composed by nasal cannulas and pressure transducer sensors…
@@rodri2565 I have been diagnosed with sleep apnea here in spain, they used nasal cannula and thermistors. But yes, my first sleep study was with Estivill and they didnt use nasal cannula (and i got a negative result). The second one provider was much better and i was luckily diagnosed with sleep apnea. You can read the AASM manual they explain there which is the most optimal equipment.
1) What type of TMS does Dr. Rama use? I’ve used Neurostar, which I was not impressed with, and BrainsWay, which was awesome until I was done with all my sessions, at which point the benefits quickly wore off. 2) I am also a fan of WatchPAT, but I have recently become nervous about the possibility of false positives. How do we know that all the detected PAT events are actually caused by disruptions in sleep?
That Rama laugh is so contagious 😂 , what a sincere and positive guy. It's amazing that he's an expert who has lived a trauma similar to that of his patients. This guy is a hero
Probably the best video I have seen regarding sleep disordered breathing... Would like to hear Dr. Ramas thoughts on what patients should ask of your regular "you have a low AHI so you should be fine" sleep doctors (like if asking for a Watchpat/Rhinomanometry could be reasonable), if any medicines like modafinil are beneficial for SDB patients and why CPAP can show a very low AHI together with no flow limitation but not at all improve sleep in some patients. Thanks.
Great interview. I would like to hear what he thinks of KairosPAP. That other doc seemed to think that every new therapy since CPAP was actually a step backwards. I would like to hear what Dr. Rama and CPAP friend think about it.
Could you ask the doc if pulse rate is a reliable measure of arousals ? Also, i've had that tongue surgery and feel worse off after it. And developed issues/difficulty with speech. So I don't know about that whole first do no harm, I feel I was better off before it. Could he comment on if anything can be done. I feel that that tissue helps hold the tongue from falling back during REM sleep. Thanks
I just completed another interview with a very reputable sleep tech / RT / polysomnographic technician, which will be coming out shortly. Answer is yes, it is. In fact, it's very reliable.
Thank you so much for doing this interview/ discussion! Very insightful. A holistic approach by Dr Rama makes sense. Generally we humans like to focus on one or two things and oversimplify what’s complex matter. We see that in many spheres eg politicians and people buy into that. Nope I don’t want to slow down my brain further 😂
So it is true that only the rich survive this . Because us average people can’t afford all these avenues and possible wrong choices to benefit our sleep apena problem- lovely , guess I’ll go write my will for my kids since I have it and I’m suffering greatly and in debt financially trying to solve it
Better to get a customized mandibular advancement device from a licensed dentist / orthodontist. Zcomfort is a 'one-size-fits-all' product, which will compromise room for the tongue, the teeth, etc in a way a customized MAD wouldn't. MADs / zcomfort come with their own set of risks, which I suggest you look into. MADs are effective to a certain degree and with the right patients.

@@CPAPfriend thats fair. a lil different than a lanky individual. nothing wrong w making a buck, its just a lot nicer when its a genuine service
Patients make great experts.
amen. Completely agree.
Dr. Rama and I will be speaking again soon, so if there are any questions you'de like to ask him through me, just post them here!
I'd like to ask Dr. Rama what are the treatment options for someone CPAP doesn't work

Because plain CPAP (e..g no EPR) imposes increased Work of Breathing.

Credit to Dr. Rama. There will be more to come! Thanks for stopping by. And yeah, we need to fix this myopic way of viewing SDB.
Holy crap!! Shocking watchpat was better than Stanford sleep lab study.... not really. Great interview
