  • I'm excited to be training for my first triathlon, the Iron Girl tri in August! The race will consist of a 1/2mi swim, 12mi ride, and 3.2mi run.
    These are my tips when you have a workout that require you to swim often.

    LOVE IT! Just what I was looking for! I just started training for triathlons as well (and decided to record my journey here on RUclips) and JUST came up with the idea to get locs...your hair is way longer than mine, but I'm definitely going to save this info on my list of maintenance tips! Thanks!!!! And good luck to you on your race and fitness journey!

      babyflojo Thank you, appreciate you watching! I also posted up a couple swim cap reviews for locs too. Congrats on kicking off your tri journey! It is such an awesome sport to be a part of. If you're on Facebook, check out the Black Triathletes Association. They're a huge group of fun Black triathletes, some are crazy experienced and have done several IronMan competitions etc, and others are newbies, and many in between.

    Restarting my locs, but also want to start swimming again, so your advice about saturating my hair first is something I will definitely do. Thanks

    Thank you for this! I will have locs installed this summer and I've been trying to figure out how to protect my locs after swimming. So many family members got locs over the last year and this video is helpful!

    Hi, I just got my sisterlocks may, 2022, haven't gotten into the pool since, I miss it dearly. What kind of shampoo do you used to help rid your hair of the chlorine?

      Hiya! To remove cholorine, I've found sulfate shampoos work best...which the natural hair community poo poos (pun not intended :-). But truth be told, eventually I just got into doing a warm water rinse and a light coat of oil or conditioner and kept it pushing. I do however have traditional locs! I found this article which recommends options www.instyle.com/hair/best-shampoos-remove-chlorine

    Girl,
    It's me again! I'm a video commenter today!!!
    I am also on a fitness journey. I started last September. I started with the 21 Day Fix. It was fun. Then I tried a couple more Beachbody products. I decided, that I needed more and I didn't like working by myself. I now have a trainer and she loves killing me 3 times a week!!!

      STEPHANIE HARRIS I love commenters! Aren't trainers the best!? Mine pushes me further than I could ever go alone, have made leaps and bounds working with her.

    Why emulsified coconut oil? Does it leave any white residue? Best wishes with the shuffle. :) kudos on the tri training and keeping your hair fly.

      It gets absorbed into my hair quickly and doesn't leave a residue at all. Plus it travels well because it is solid until emulsified. Thanks for watching :-)

    New Subbie here...nice vid, very informative. I started training in the beginning of this year for 10K using the Zen Running apps, very instrumental in my journey. I completed the Cherry Blossom 10K on April 9th and I share in your enthusiasm of accomplishment. I wish you continued success on your fitness journey, God Bless!

    So you rinse your hair, but don't wash each time you swim

    • @lhamilt
      @lhamilt  8 лет назад +1

      Correct! It's too time consuming.
