Glad you mentioned domestic first class because a lot of other reviewers like to compare this to international business or first which is a totally different product. I fly Hawaiian domestic first whenever its available for where I 'm going. Never been unhappy with the product or the service.
It's DEFINITELY an upgrade over the aging A330-200 they've been using. I just got back from my first trip to Oahu for my 3 week birthday trip. I took a nonstop business class flight from Boston Logan to Honolulu and back again. 11hr and change going 9hr and change coming home. And while i liked the first class i DIDN'T like the lack of privacy. The A330 is set-up in a 2x2x2 configuration. And while yes you do have a small partition to separate you from your neighbor it really isn't enough. Nor was the seat wide enough to sleep in even fully reclined. The footrest was small and anyone over 5'10 like myself will struggle. Otherwise, service was excellent as was the food. I did not like the way the tray table unfolded and even my flight attendant agreed they are a royal PITA. Also, the "IPOD" like IFE screens handed out were terrible. I much prefer an in seat screen glad to see the new 787 has this. Apparently Hawaiian is trying to offer more options for single travelers. As the A330 basically caters to couples/honeymooners who want to sit together. Thus, the 2x2x2 seat configuration. I asked them when they will be servicing Boston to Honolulu with these new dreamliners and i was told probably by end of 2025. Which would be good because i FULLY intend on going back to Honolulu i had a great time seeing it was my first time there. And actually what i may do next time is a week in Honolulu. And then a week in Guam. Many folks don't realize Guam is a US territory. And even though it is a heavy Asian tourist destination mainly from Korea and Japan. They still speak English and take the US dollar. But best of all you DO NOT need a passport...!!! Since i love Asian culture particularly Japanese and Thai. You can get a whole mix of that visiting Guam. And the water is even bluer and nicer than Honolulu being in the South Pacific. Where as Hawaii is in the North Pacific. United Airlines provides a non stop flight from Honolulu to Guam on there 777-300ER planes. And the flight time is around 7.5hrs both ways. Which isn't to bad especially if you fly first class which i would. I think that's definitely going to be on my radar for my next trip for sure. And hit two tropical locations. Both with non stop flights.
I just flew on them from Boston to Honolulu nonstop coming and going. And i took the aging A330-200 in business class. And while i liked it i can't wait for the new dreamliner to begin service from Boston to Honolulu. I asked my flight attendant and she said probably some time around the end of 2025 or maybe sooner. I think that will be great but i have a funny feeling that first class will come at a heavy premium price. Considering it's a new plane over the A330. Hopefully, i'm wrong about that because when i do go to Hawaii again. I really want to try the new private window seat arrangement the 787 provides.
They have the best (along with Jetblue0 catering of any US carrier and an amazing Asian & South Pacific route network. In HNL, they have both a Domestic First Lounge and Premium International Business Class lounge.
It always takes forever to pick up bags in Phoenix after traveling from Hawaii. Every single time. The gate is far away. If I can get away with it, I don’t check bags, lol
If given a choice do you think single seat is better than center in HA first class? Traveling with sister but if both will be watching tv or sleeping is it worth center seat or window? Is there more room in single seats? First time flying on new HA first class, thanks for your help.
Yeah, I prefer single seat - even when traveling together. The option to stare out into the clouds is worth it to me :) We usually do front/back (Mandy will pass me leftovers 😅)
It's marketed as domestic first class. In the same way that flying from SFO to LAX has a "first class" (though substantially worse) and then it's Comfort+, Main Cabin, Basic Economy.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful trip. 😊
Awesome trip report. I hope to see Hawaiian Airlines using their new B787-9 on international routes. This product was so good!

🍍Great honest review of the flight. The wireless charging area was my surprise "HECK YEA" moment. Pro move on the United flight at the end.
Thanks! I wish the wireless charging actually worked 😅
Beautiful Cabin,Great Video

Good to know! Yeah, definitely felt super long to us (but other people seemed really chill / used to it lol)

Thanks so much for your reply! Super helpful!!!
2 watches?
Can we get a watch video? Love the Daytona on the oysterflex
Confused, if it's first class, where are the business seats? I see coach, coach plus then first?

But yeah, definitely feels like a "business class" if compared against international products.
It's either this or the Jet Blue 1st class that is the best.
Agree!
Living in Hawaii is very frustrating because of the dysfunctional society.

Thanks for watching! :)

Hawaiian should be serving steak rather than chicken on first class/business class.
Would love steak 🥩
