  • -In honor of Walt Disney World's 50th anniversary, I'm presenting a rare piece of early WDW audio merged to several previously uploaded YT videos. This features the WEDWay Peoplemover ride (now known today as the Tomorrowland Transit Authority) with it's original narration by Jack Wagner (the "voice" of Disneyland and WDW) from a 1976 live recording.
-Three separate YT uploads of Peoplemover footage from 1984, 1986 and 1987 have been used to try and recreate the majority of what the 1976 Peoplemover experience would have been like, in which viewers saw previews of the RCA Home of Future Living post-show in Space Mountain and If You Had Wings. The only thing that doesn't match the 1976 narration is the Circlevision movie which was "America The Beautiful" then, but had later been replaced by "Magic Carpet Round The World" in 1979 and finally "American Journeys" in 1984.
-The Jack Wagner Peoplemover narration was replaced in 1985 by a new narration done by "ORAC-1" which lasted until the 1994 Tomorrowland makeover.
-You can find the original uploads of the three videos used at these links.
    • Video (WEDWay Peoplemover - 1984)
    • Walt Disney World Foot... (Walt Disney World Footage 12/20-21/1986)
    • 1987 - Magic Kingdom (1987_Magic Kingdom) (Apologies to Mitch Krzyzek for my not relocating this in time to properly credit him on the video itself)

Great effort and probably the best way to relive this version of a past attraction. :D 10/10 for the fact this worked near perfect.

This video is fantastic. I got to ride several times as a kid in the early 70s, this is almost exactly as I remember it, especially the music for "If You Had Wings", which impressed 10 year old me.

Funny how the mission to Mars is at the Magic Kingdom and then years later it's at Epcot center. Going over the speedway you don't hear hi everyone this is Mr Johnson. In his space copter

Look at Tomorrowland. Wide open and airy, unified architecture, no Arcade building or dopey stage to make you feel crowded in and cramped. The Skyway, the Grand Prix running its original track instead of the half-sized disappointment it has become. Attractions themed around possible futures, instead of just being commercials for Disney's sci-fi properties. People actually walking instead of riding in endless waves of motorized seats, because our entire society wasn't obese and disgusting. I'd trade all of Disney World today just to spend an hour in this park again.

WDW brought back the Peoplemover after the 70’s. It was still called Wedway Peoplemover. Then it was the Tomorrowland Transit Authority.

I noticed that Mickey's Mart had had some changes over the years especially in the 80s/90s in the 90s it had a retro design
with a Mickey Mouse figure added something like that

@@rileygruszel5147 And in the process the PeopleMover has totally lost its ability to offer great "previews" of attractions. Not just with Space Mountain but in the days of "If You Had Wings" you had *three* preview windows looking on the attraction because the ride was designed to maximize the preview potential of the PeopleMover. Ever since "Dream Flight" though and continuing with "Buzz Lightyear" this has been lost too since you only get one preview window of the attraction now (the second one).

Amazing. Old recordings from the 70s and 80s of Disney parks have always been kind of an obsession of mine mainly for the historical significance they have. I'd love to hear more if you have anything else you'd like to share.

    • @epaddon
      @epaddon  2 года назад +2

Thanks, I share that obsession too and my regret is that I didn't do recordings myself in my dozen visits to WDW between 75 and 93. This one I was lucky to get in a trade back in the early 2000s and it was on a CD that also included a 1976 live recording of "If You Had Wings" that has the closing "You do have wings!" voice say, "Eastern.....the Wings of Man" (the original slogan) instead of "Eastern.....we'll be your wings" as was the case from the late 70s on. That's pretty much the one "unique" piece of audio I think I have (along with a 1978 Carousel Of Progress audio with the original Act IV though there are other recordings out there of that). My first video merge to an audio of IYHW was two minutes of crystal clear live audio I grabbed from a site that went defunct in 2002 that others may not know about. (ruclips.net/video/Q7wYIz-Bk_Q/видео.html) Right now my biggest WDW Holy Grail that I hope to see emerge is the isolated underscore of the original "Hall Of Presidents" that used to play in the rotunda waiting area.

Interesting they had some of the Captiol Media Music songs that were no longer used on the WedWay after ORAC-1, but still used on Disneyland's PeopleMover until it's demise in 1995.

The notes above specifically mention that footage from 1984, 1986 and 1987 was used to recreate this since that's as far back as footage exists to match with the 76 soundtrack in the key areas (footage of "If You Had Wings" and the RCA "Home Of Future Living" scenes in Space Mountain).

What? The Peoplemover is one of the most beloved attractions to this day, and it still gets decent wait times (sometimes more than 20 minutes)
Do I think Disney would ever build a relaxing, IP-less ride like this now? Oh, heck no, but that's a management thing.
