Why does Ottavio leave early at the end? Anna is addressing those lines to him. Then Ottavio has concluding lines solus, which I find moving, more interesting then creating a good applause moment. Everyone likes to change operas around at their whim.
All of the opera in the 18thC were changed around the singers in transpositions, substitution arias and/ or stage direction. This is nothing compared to what went on.
One of Dame Joan's best roles.
I wonder why the had not still release the DVD of that Perfomance??!! Joan is in FABULOUS VOICE!!! Thank you dear friend!!
Listen to the ‘a’ in ‘costanza’ at the end of the rec. Very creaky, and hardly an example of her in fabulous voice.
Many thanks for posting these two arias. Such wonderful quality.
I attended one of the performances in this series. Met James Morris backstage (smoking a cigarette!), Sutherland (grand), Bonynge (very friendly).
Sensational Joan
Straordinaria
Que maravilla !!!!! por siempre Joan todo lo hace tan bien .....

My only thought is perhaps they wanted her to have the stage by herself during the final virtuosic part of the aria.

Olá Vinicius. Novamente a pergunta: cadê o DVD da DECCA?🙄🤔
Exatamente! Os fãs que lutem para ter um material com som e imagem remasterizados.
Don Ottavio's italian pronunciation is simply atrocious. 😂
