I thought Seth would have had a beard as a kid.

@@Ahmed-gu1vx bruh wtf is this comment 🤣
Oh dude, thank you for the belly laugh. I needed that.
Yeah, I thought he'd be grey already too!
omg yeah
Seth, you should do a character for sponsored videos where you become “Long Island Seth” to talk about the sponsor. I can’t be the only one who wants it!
Haha, just like Dusty AKA Sam Pilgrim!
I want more Long Island Seth as well!
you're not the only one
I support this idea. 🤣
You mean "Lawn Guy Land"

When I was around 10, my friends and I spent a day playing with a big cardboard box. One of us had a house with a big staircase so we took turns getting sealed in the box with a couple of cushions or pillows and the others threw the box down the stairs. The 70s - Good times.
We had a freaky ancient staircase in my grandparents barn that we put a tarp down and then wrapped another one on couch cushions (that we weren't supposed to be using this way for sure, We got spanked for it after we got warned the first time.) And slid down from the top.
For context, my grandparents farm house was built in 1902 and the barn in 1904. All the staircases are built for functionality. Steep as hell with tiny added railing, going to tiny box ended bedrooms. My grandparents didn't care about having electricity through out the house till I was a teenager. So, no lights or heating or cooling after dark. You brought up a flashlight or used one of the gas lamp fixtures in the wall.
The only modern thing about that house was that they put skylights and a modern kitchen in beside the bathroom. They kept the 1920s wood stove for emergencies in the downstairs for when the power went out.
But getting back to the windows, they served as vents and excellent places to climb up onto the roof and look out when your room got too hot.
One of my cousins went sledding off the roof from those. Again not with anyones blessing. If I remember correctly, my brother put him up to go first because he thought of it, but chickened out by the time they built the landing. They only managed to do it once because it sounded like God or Satan was plaguing the house with hellfire when he slid off. My grandparents were too steaming mad (and now that I recognize it, scared) to discipline them for that one.
Ah, good times.
My kids are riding down the stairs on a toddler bed matress as I type this....no helmet
Stairs free play equipment, you just need a piece of cardboard and some imagination.
my sister and I would get in our sleeping bags and slide down our big staircase - so much fun
That sounds epic. We used to dive headfirst down the carpeted staircase like Seth hit that slide. Without helmets even. Ah, the carpet burns…good times for sure.
"I want to get in a plastic bag and jump in the pool". "Sure Seth that sounds like a great idea, no way you'll drown or suffocate". We live in a different world these days!

After watching this I am convinced that whenever Seth talks he’s covering up his accent
You can definitely hear it whenever he says “water”.

Me: "Why is seth explaining how stuff was in the 90's? I was there!"

Super cool to have a dad that did that kind of stuff with you, the support you had from your family seems pretty awesome. That's the dream for a lot of kids. I know I used to WISH my dad would put the beer down and take me for a ride, or play catch or something. Kudos to your pops, and Momz for holding the camera.

The bags in the pool were a different level of sketchy. Even for the 90's. Great video
This is really awesome. Shows you're an actual human, not just another youtuber out to make a dollar. I can tell this is your passion, and so can the rest of the MTB community.
Your future is very bright my friend!
It’s crazy to see how far Seth has come
This is amazing! I grew up in the same era doing exactly this. Never remember wearing helmets or caring for safety. Times have changed so much! I have tapes somewhere I need to find now at my dads house. Glad to see you carried this with you from childhood to make a career out of it. Thanks for sharing, Seth!
Thanks for posting. It’s very interesting to see that you were taking Bikes apart and learning by doing basic repairs back in your youth. That’s what I did when I was a kid back in the day. I am 72 now and frequently get text from younger bike buddies asking if I can fix something simple on their bike. I get lots of good beer in exchange. Been a big fan of your channel for a long time.
So what i have noticed is that seth is now again starting to upload more since his injury, and video production break, so i just want to thank and appreciate Seth and all of the berm peak crew for from teaching to entertaining us in these times.
Can we get an entire episode of something, anything (breakfast 2.0?) in as thick of an accent you can possibly do.

The bag in a pool has got to be one of the most dangerous things I’ve ever seen
Seth, I'mma need that whole rap overdub video posted. Seriously, post it. Do it. Do it.
Thanks for sharing Seth, that was really enjoyable to be brought along for the ride on your wee journey down memory lane....as a child of the 80's and 90's I can relate to so much of this!
That was so awesome to watch man the good ole days thank you seth for your blast from the past
I really like how Seth doesn’t force his mercy on us, but still lets us know I that its there, and it is sick and comfy
Putting your kid in a plastic bag and then in a pool. Yup. Those were the 80s 😃
This is my favorite episode yet, and I love them all.
Great Video Seth, thanks for sharing that piece of your life, the beginning of Seth's Bike hacks, absolutely loved it, shows the great charismatic attitude you have to reach your audience from an early age, you are absolutely right on the safety thing I was born and raised in the 70's and survived all along with 20 other friends just fine.
we need a t shirt that said "when the only tool you have is a vice grip, everything starts to look like chewing gum"
Different times, indeed! I’m told that I learned to swim when I was two years old and my dad just chucked me into the neighborhood pool.

yea the 80s/90s/early 2000s where awesome as i told i was born in 2003 so a little late but yea these where chill times
I’m about the same age as Seth so this is a very accurate depiction of the 80’s-90’s in regards to lack of safety. Very cool to see that Seth had the presentation skills back then and is able to share it w the rest of us. Getting paid to do what you love = not a job.
It's going to be fun to watch your channel grow with the little one. Love your videos. I taught my little girl how to ride her bike without training wheels over my lunch break today, proud dad moment. Keep up the great work!

4:00 seth has never worked on a rusty bike or one with a stuck nut before then? vise grips are an essential part of a toolkit especially for stuck stuff. great for pinching cables too.
This doesn't make any sense. If a nut is stuck, a vise grip is the worse thing because it only grabs the nut on two places. An actual wrench would be way better for a stuck nut since it grabs in all 6 sides. I think your point is that vise grips are better for random things that get stuck, not bike parts lol
@@charlesfreeman8215 usually can't fit an actual wrench on a rusted nut because the rust messes up the shape so much. If it's not rusted bad enough to mess.ip the shape then you prolly don't need vise grips yeah. Also a wrench only grabs in 2 places technically as well. Unless you're using one of those 12 point sides on a box wrench which is gonna make it way worse. Some vise grips actually make a hex shape when closed for additional grip
@@charlesfreeman8215 exactly. That's what impact wrenches are for.

My neighbor who’s in his 50s told me stories of his biking adventures as a kid. He talked about the no helmet thing at the time and how him with his friends would bike as fast as they could off of big jumps they made in the middle of the street. The times they crashed, he said they could tasted their teeth from grinding when hitting the ground. He also shared how they built a whole mini dirt track with jumps and berms in his backyard. All the biking kids in the neighborhood would race each other on his mini track.
