If Rockstar games showed the same love and attention to the first two i'm sure they would have a good debate on which one is better.

Debatable. I love CJ, but Tommy was the real G in 3D universe. In HD universe my choice would be Niko, cause he was an actual 3-dimensional complex character, unlike the caricatures in GTA 5.
