My expensive truck has molded 4-flat and 7-pin with nothing hanging down. I tow both a boat trailer with surge brakes and 5-pin but I also tow an equipment trailer with electric brakes and 7-pin connector for which I have a controller under my dash. Adapter 7-pin to 5-pin is only way to go. Buy two ... always carry a spare.
So my truck has a 4 wire flat plug. I'm trying to wire a trailer light that has sequential turn signals and it has fire wires (a dedicated wire for the brakes). How do I wire that wire to the four wire plug? Make jumpers from the turn signals to the brake wire?
Hi, how can a Frontier 2004 be upgraded to a 5 pin??
EZ Load boat trailer. Just hooked up to truck and right signal is good. Left signal turns on BOTH left and right signals. Truck lights check out fine, so it's a trailer problem. HELP?
What happens if you have a 4-flat coming off the trailer, but it has 5 wires? Green, Yellow, Brown, White and a Brown/Yellow (could be Brown/White) wire.
You have 2 brown wires. One for left side & one for right side tail lights. Very common in small utility trailer & boat trailers. You still have 4 functions.
When you have 2 brown wire on trailer but just 1 brown wire on connector do you just wrap both brown wires together? I did this but now both lights blink.
@@Savage_beast-bv3vo Not sure, I am not an expert, but I wrapped the brown wires together...then you have a separate green and a separate yellow. One for each side. I suggest you check your connection again, and maybe check to see if you don't have crossed wires. If it is a used trailer you purchased, the original owner may have wired it wrong. Also, make sure your connection are clean. The ground wire if very important too...check that it is grounded properly.
You forgot something....check your lug nuts
🤣 Good catch!
Check. Your. Lug. Nuts!
Do the adaptors have pronouns?
I guess it’s always a possibility! 🤷♀️🤣
@TheTrailerSmith
We are instructed to be mindful in this climate. LOL
Hold on to your lug nuts, it's time for an overhaul !
"WE USE THIS ONE CAUSE IT MAKES US MORE MONEY"....
🤣🤣🙄🙄
NOW EXPLAIN WHY SOME PLUGS ARE A 4WAY BUT HAVE 5 WIRES....NOT A 5 WAY, JUST 5 WIRES FROM A 4WAY PLUG....
If you watched the video, that explanation was given when I talked about the first trailer plug. Video time from 3:10-4:38 gives this explanation.
@@TheTrailerSmith NOPE...THAT WAS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 4WAY FLATS AND 5 WAY FLATS...I'M TALKING ABOUT THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF 4WAY FLATS....MY ORIGINAL TRAILER CONNECTOR WAS A 4WAY FLAT WITH 5 WIRES CONNECTED TO IT... I COULD NOT FIND A REPLACEMENT AND HAD TO TAKE THE 4 WAY FLAT WITH 4 WIRES... KNOW WHAT I MEAN VERN???
The first 4 way plug shown in this video time has 5 wires. I explained what those wires were for.
@@TheTrailerSmith STILL MISSING THE POINT... I KNOW WHAT THE WIRES ARE FOR, I KNOW THAT BOTH BROWN WIRES FUNCTION AS THEIR OWN FLASHER CIRCUIT. PROBLEM IS, MOVING FROM A 5 WIRE TRAILER PLUG TO A 4 WIRE TRAILER PLUG IS NOT AS SIMPLE AS SPLICING BOTH BROWN WIRES TOGETHER EACH MUST HAVE ITS OWN CONNECTION AS THE ORIGIANL HAD BOTH BROWN WIRES INSTEAD OF JUST ONE......I SEE NOW I WILL JUST HAVE TO ABANDON THE 4 WIRE PLUG, AND JUST GET A 7BLADE TO 5WAY PLUG AND A NEW 5 WAY FLAT PLUG TO REGAIN LIGHT FUNCTION...DONT LET MY INTENTIONAL TPYOS DISTRACT YOU THOUGH. I LIKE TO TRAP THE SHILL BOTS... I SUPPOSE I COULD HAVE WORDED IT BETTER AND ASKED HOW TO GO FROM A 5 WIRE 4WAY TO A 4 WIRE WAY...
