Glad to finally see a van builder talk about weight. I am astonished a the van builds on youtube and the weight of the buildouts I see.
Yeah, those were good tips about the lightness of the balsa wood and lithium batteries. Another tip I saw on another van build video was to use ceramic tile-looking decals in place of real ceramic tiles on the splash guard behind the cooking area.

This is the best ever bed solution. You always have a 2/3 bed done, and save a lot of space. I always imagined this solution, but never found in any van conversion.

This probably one of the best designs I have seen.
I agree. I would still do things differently for myself. Fridge in a drawer? No. The toilet needs a curtain, no matter how much you love your partner, I don't need to watch them poop. But I think they only use it in an emergency. And do you need 5 big knives on a magnetic bar when camping? I'd rather put spices on there. All in all, a well thought-out and professionally executed solution.
clicked on this van build b/c title said he was a furniture maker. as soon as I heard he was German I knew I'd watch the whole thing b/c the quality and attention to detail would be exceptional. did not disappoint.

this guy can do it all; impressive van; keeping it light helps not just with gas mileage but even when van is not moving as you say for tires, shocks, etc. Very instructional.

After watching hundreds of van builds, I like this one so much! Simple and efficient. I hate the idea of wasting space in a van with a bathroom. Love the outdoor shower and great idea on the bed/bench!

Superb design...most motorhome / camper interiors are suburbia circa 1975 --- this is light and thoughtful and efficient.
Love this conversion. I totally agree with the need for a bathroom. I don't agree with people here who express their views in an aggressive and impolite way. Everybody has a view. Everybody is entitled to one. Nobody is entitled to think that their view is the only one that should prevail.
Thanks so much for mentioning wheel base. When trying to gauge what I could get inside (wet bath) and yet still get it into a parking place, this is super important to me. Great plan!
This is beautiful. I like the curtain wall and will want something like that in my van. Than I can still have a swivel seat in the front. Excellent workmanship.
Pamela ive seen that curtain wall before but a better version of it. Trying to remember where I saw it. Not likely it was on living big in a tiny house but a similar channel, might be Nate Murphy. If I find it I will post the link for you.

@@noa5641 I saw it too and I think it was on Nate Murphy.. Was it the one where the guy said he bought it from a home type store and just had it cut down to fit? The van had the double sized swivel passenger chair, the couch and then the bed and he had that adorable reddish dog that he called a cocker spaniel ( which I'm sure it was but to me it looked like a baby Irish setter lol).
wouldn't this just be something you could pull inspiration from the curtain between first class and coach cabins in an airplane from?

This van soothes all the anxiety and ocd stressors I got from other builds. ESPECIALLY THE BED! 🛌 Omg always seeing those thin plywood boards, or dining tables stressed me out. I literally let out a breath I didn’t know that I was holding, when he lifted up such a thick and firmly supported chair back. Thank you 🙏 sooo much. Your skills are great.

What a fine clever example of the possibilities in the hands of a brilliant craftsman. Such crazy clean workmanship. I'll never afford to build like this, but it sure is a pleasure to behold.
I like the bed because one person can go to bed without disturbing the other. Also, other person can change his couch into a bed without disturbing sleeping person. This is very unique design, and allows for more privacy. Also love the garage where all the essentials are tucked out of site and maintenance can be done without disturbing people in the van. Seeing how much better your design is, I would not buy a van without at least those two genius features. I suggest you update your video to emphasize the benefits of your design. Good luck!

It's nice but for me personally I would need a proper bathroom, maybe a wet bath, windows on both sides, ac, and heat. I do like it though 👍Can't wait to see the future builds! 👌

She’s got to mimic her home....closets full of clothes she never wears
Most dumps are done in the morning that's mother nature. And they have an exhaust fan. And the pee quietly and instantly goes into the pee reservoir so there is no flushing noise. They could rig up curtains for visual privacy. And public bathrooms and nationwide gyms are all over the place so you dont have to rely on the toilet 100%.

That divider wall is so awesome! I have seen others and yours are some of the better ones. I love the zippers. Very nice clean electrical set up. Love lithium - so worth the $$. This van is perfect for one person and a dog. No need to expand the bed. The pullout is the office table. I’d buy it.

Impeccable details as any German build.. but the lack of full bathroom, I would definitely re-thinking this part.. but the furniture and the weight consideration is amazing :)
what makes you think he wouldn't have covered that part? It's a very small van. A shower cubicle not only needs space, it needs water, produces grey water and thus weight, needs space, produces moisture and mould. Campsites have good sanitary facilities and the toilet in the cupboard is certainly only used in emergencies. I think he has made the right decisions for his personal needs

This van is beautiful! I LOVE the zipper-lined blackout curtain, I’ve been hoping to find/see a van with that done.
The curtain reminded me of a child's sleeping bag, which it could very well be. Just a matter of arranging the zippers where you want them.
@@williamhudson4938 or an adult size depending on the width and height; also instead of zippers at the sides, magnets can be sewn in
@@williamhudson4938 and u can do the same for windows with -20 degree sleeping bags cut to the correct size if keeping out the cold is your only concern and not heat, as in the U.K.

t's always a question of what you need the van for. For a few weeks' holiday in hot climates? To live in it permanently? To drive to ski resorts? There is no one solution for everyone.
