  • Testing sprites vs tier 1 units 1 weeks growth Human vs AI. Since equlibris did sprites dirty and now they have 0 wins in AI vs AI i decided to test them manually.

    Heroes of Might and Magic IV is a turn-based strategy game developed by Gus Smedstad through New World Computing and published by the 3DO Company for Microsoft Windows-based personal computers in 2002.     13:30 after 6 shots orcs become melee, and 6 shots do not kill sprites on long distance, so there is a way to win ai. same with 4 shot centaurs

    Basic Noobility demonstrating why sprites were hit with the nerf bat. Equilibris was designed to be played by people. Sprites have lower pop counts to make up for the fact they don't suffer casualties in most fights.

      are you sure that one unit vs one unit fights are as prevalent as you say? Because only then sprites can kite effectively

      ​@@czapla1024 Yesn't. So they are extremely prevalent in vanilla, as the enemy wants to have exactly as many stacks as you do. So if you only bring sprites, you get a 1v1. In equilibris they changed it so they always split into as many stacks as they can into the row they want to put that unit.
      However, there are other factors in play here. Nature has access to fatigue via water elementals - and mass fatigue in equilibris. They also have the level 2 quicksand spell in both their mage guild and on the water elemental. Finally, they have the simple level 1 speed spell which the druid I think might even be guaranteed to start with? All of these spells greatly enhance the sprite's ability to kite stuff. You can also buy a level 1 knight from your tavern for the basic tactics too.
      The same type of unit will often move in the same way, and so long as you have a method of making sure they don't go for the rest of your army, you can do some serious shenanigans with sprites.
      IIRC harpies and vampires got hit even harder for similar reasons. (They're still both very good)

      @@czapla1024 Crossbowman is basically the only level 1 unit that comes close to emulating what sprites do in terms of lossless fights where other factions would suffer bleed. And they make up for it with trash adventure map speed while sprites zoom around the map.

      No retaliation + good base speed/movement. With a bit of support they can be the cornerstone of lossless fights. Harpies and Vampires got the worse end of it (vampires are still OP though lmao)
