Hey Larry, great video especially the details on how to handle the fingers! I only recently switched over to Exoshield for my cars but noticed the improved clarity of this film, and what seems like less distortion once cured. It is good to see that you are still in the industry, the last time we crossed paths was in 2014 Monterey for Porsche Parade.
You have so much patience.
You are a installer.
Awesome video. My first try didn't go so well. Now I know what I did wrong !
Also, where can I buy ExoShield?
Thanks !

Great video. Has anyone ever tried the Ryk Shrink method? In my experience, thick films shrink MUCH better with this method.
We have some installers in our network that have tested out the 2 heatgun method in a few different variations! In the end, ExoShield GT3 moulds well enough with one that having a second is more of an inconvenience. Sounds like you know your way around window films! Our of curiosity, have you worked with any windshield protection films specifically?
@@ExoShield It's a really tough sell here in South Carolina because law requires insurance companies to replace the glass for free since it's considered a safety item. Other than the occasional rare old-school window or an exotic, I can't find a single customer for it. I've tried. But I do still love to watch these videos and learning new techniques.
We completely understand! In some places like Arizona which has a similar replacement situation, our partners have been finding great success with customers that are trying to avoid these claims hitting their insurance.
With the average cost to replace climbing up over $1000 windshields are becoming too costly to keep covering under the antiquated policies that were built around $100 replacements and no calibration.
Linking up with a local glass repair shop is another great way to educate people about the need for windshield protection at the source. If you have a glass shop that is focused on creating a great customer experience, theres a good chance they would be interested in protecting the freshly replaced glass! @@autostyleonline
Unfortunately I had a poor experience with Exoshield. I had it installed on my Tesla Model 3. Few months later I was driving on the highway in traffic at 35 to 40 miles mph. A very small rock hit the corner of the windshield and it immediately cracked. I feel the product offers very little protection especially being that I was traveling at a low speed when the rock hit the window. Exoshields respond was.i should have paid extra for an extended warranty coverage. That didn’t sit well with me being that I spent $500 on the product. If you have to buy extra warranty protection, then in my opinion it doesn’t give me great confidence in Exoshield.
Hey @Jetdriver704,
We're sorry to hear about your experience with ExoShield. Your feedback is important to us, and we take it seriously.
Could you please send us an email at help@getexoshield.com with your purchase details and any photos of the damage? We would like to review your case in more detail and see how we can assist you further.
we have a shop here in Staten Island one of the trainers from another windshield protection film comes to train us, we have done a Tesla Y and it was not smooth as yours, is there any film like sample to try out on our Tesla Y?
Hey David! If you'd like to connect with our team about installing ExoShield GT3 we would suggest filling out our Partner Application. Thanks for reaching out!

Can you ceramic on top of the ppf?
Yes! Just to clarify, ExoShield Windshield Protection Film is considered a WPF. It's made of a different material than PPF so check out our approved list of coatings before applying one to your ExoShield WPF.

Is there any distortion introduced by this film? Does it introduce wiper stuttering of chattering? I don’t want this feature but does this film also has hydrophobic properties as well?
Once cured, ExoShield doesn't have any distortion! Wiper chatter is not something we notice normally with protected vehicles and yes there are some hydrophobic properties to ExoShield. Thanks for asking!
What temperature should be used on a heat gun for effective and safe film installation?
900-1000 Fahrenheit is usually what we suggest heat guns be run at. You need a heat gun that moves a lot of air as well (high cfm)
Where can I source that film?
Hello! We sell this film strictly to our partnered installation network. Visit this link to apply to become a partner and start offering our products! www.getexoshield.com/exoshield-partner-application
I know you use slip solution for majority of the work, but when do you actually use the IPA bottle?
IPA is used to clean the surface of the glass to remove any coatings or contaminants!
@@ExoShield OK perfect. So I don’t need to apply any IPA before I am going to apply the film onto the windshield?
Only for a final clean before application! There is no need to promote the adhesive with IPA like you might with other types of automotive film. @@NoName-bi7lz
Super helpful… too bad they won’t sell me their product.
Hello, it seems like it doesn’t work for a Tesla model y!
While the model Y is a difficult installation it is absolutely something our installers are capable of protecting!
I think a similar video with instruction for Tesla y will be more than welcomed. Thank you
@@radudumitriu5163 the methods taught in this video are exactly what would be used on the Model Y! We chose to use a Model 3 for this demonstration because it is a highly curved windshield and the process needed to form ExoShield GT3 to the Model 3 glass can be used on any vehicle.
