He needs more credit than he gets. Dude pulls off the perfect heel promo work and antics to a tee but is such a chill and humble person behind the curtain
If you take into consideration everything he's done, his reputation as one of the top indy veterans, and his stint in NXT lasting 2-3 years, he's pretty young and still has a lot more to offer. Most with his list of accolades would've been well in their thirties.
BryanTalks I really don't think that's that impressive. Brock was WWE champion by 22 and Drew was Intercontinental champion by 24 despite coming from Scotland. Sure he's a top indy guy to a certain group of fans, but I don't find him that great. Sure he has all the basic physicality down.but beyond that he's got no clue, trying to work like Vader with he's about 5'6''.
BryanTalks Well, its really impressive. Because, he's making a name for himself at 29. He's done so much without the WWE Brand. Its sad, how people dont appreciate people that work in the independents scene. But, they have their lips so far up WWE'S ass.
Sami unlike most wrestlers can turn off the evil persona and can be a very nice personal person. I wish him nothing but success, as a wrestler he could easily have an awesome match with the 1997 Steve Austin.
WWE did drop the ball with him, most of the time they do but sometimes they end up 100x better cause of it. Look at Drew Galloway & hopefully they'll use Drew to his quality this time.
Honestly, I don't know how he would have ever fit into their system. He's a terrific worker, so it's not that he's inferior, but it wasn't a good fit. I'm glad he figured it out, and they never gave him false hope resulting in many wasted years. Who knows how much time Ty Dillinger is going to waste before moving on. All and all, it's a good story for Sami.
seymourglass26 I assume Drew's program with Adam Cole will bring him more love from Trips and Vince, so I think Drew will do fine in a resurgence to the main roster. Look at Jinder lol.
drew galloway is the shits his match with roode was pathetic and boring galloway was a joke in TNA also and was average at best and bringing him back to NXT shows that wwe dont think highly of him atall i think he will stay on NXT forever(being a former main roster talent tipped by vince also) you would think wwe would bring him straight to main roster but thank god they still see him as a joke currently and keep him in NXT to learn because hes learned nothing since he left wwe the first time lol
"Indie" just means independent. It's not, and shouldn't be a dirty word. This is true for both independent contractors (wrestlers) and the companies that book them. WWE has shareholders and is a corporation. It has a ton of baggage in terms of its first-and-foremost existence as a business. For this reason, NJPW is also not an indie, since it's owned by a media corporation. Even LU is owned by a major corporation, but has just signed contracts with various entities to be produced and distributed and shown. They are semi-indie wrestling, but more because of the talent contracts and schedule, not their business. And it's some of the most fun I have each week. And Cody Rhodes is an incredible, true "indie" wrestler doing work all over the world like the stud he is.
seymourglass26 Rhodes is probably the best success story of a wrestler being released from WWE. He brings clout with his name and lineage wherever he goes and he currently holds the ROH Title without being signed last i checked. Like he's gone from being misused by WWE to being one of the worlds biggest wrestler in a very short time, and should he ever return to Vince will likely go to the main event near instantly
I don't see it as a bad term but I feel alot of them are okay with it until they go to WWE and I think WWE ruins the term for them as alot of the people in WWE mock indy wrestling and so it likely makes them feel crap and sullies the term for them for when they leave and go back.
Solid interview! Saw Sami in a match at WrestleCircus; he took a madman's suicide dive that made him legit look like a missile fired to the outside. Quality worker.
Well yeah, that's like making in 5 or 6 years of your whole career what WWE gives away Roman Reigns in less than a year..... do you think Dean is that happy really if he compares his treatment?
Roman Reigns is what the WWE wants. Ambrose is a poor man's Al Snow, so he has no room to bitch about anything. ESPECIALLY the kind of money he's making under Vince.
It's alright Sami, you don't need WWE. He's got more creative freedom and can cut more badass promos, and be the highlight of the show. These guys calling him a bitch better deal with it that he doesn't need your beloved WWE.
Very good wrestler. I'm happy to see him succeed. Baron Corbin should really take his advice about learning how to be an adult who can use social media. But I do find is sad that he dislikes the term "Indie Wrestling". I know it's silly semantics, but just because it's an independent promotion doesn't mean it is rinky-dink or minor. It doesn't carry a stigma with us on the watching end. To most fans (at least from my experience) "Indie Wrestling" means smaller venues, everything if affordable, real fan interaction during matches and buying merch, close and hard-hitting action, and wrestlers who are allowed creative freedom and the ability to have fun. To me, "indie" is a good word unless I see the promotion and then decide they're not for me. "Indie labels" did amazing business in music for a spell in the early to mid 2000s. Just take the name and make it mean quality and creativity.
I Remember Watching Him At The Salvation Army In Fountain Square , He Was My Favorite Wrestler ! I Still Have His Shirt He Singed For Me And Wrote Happy Birthday On It Since My Birthday Was The Next Day 😍
After seeing some of the crazy nutty stuff this guy has done Sami seems like a really chill guy. Still absorbing information of the wrestling business and giving insight on what goes on in the back. He's right tho I did see several wrestling T shirts not backed by WWE that was selling and I think even at one point sold out in Hot Topic. Kinda wished the interview was longer.
The most underrated star on NXT of all time.He signed a contract with wwe in 2013 but get released in end of 2015.NXT only use him in about 5 times in TV....
Jeremiah Crane is one of the best Season 3 debuts on LU. He's going head-to-head with Dante Fox for season MVP (it depends on how his story with Catrina and Mil ends up). He's brilliant there.
sami is a decent stand up guy.he knows how to get over as a heel.hes a business man st the end of the day and he is right kill that "INDIE" in pro wrestling cus at the end of the day pro wrestling is pro wrestling it doesnt matter what company u work for.much respect to sami and the other men n women making a name for themselves without the machine known as the WWE
I went to an nxt house show went to the bathroom was peeing looked to my right and it was him and I was at a lost for words then he went straight back through the looker room door because it was connected even and then my friend came out the stall and said who was that haha
Inside the ring: Sami the brutal wrestler who Piledrive people on steel chairs. Outside the ring: Sami the friendly, talented graphic designer who designs cool ring gears.
Solomon Crane sounds better. I don't understand why WWE has to change good names. He could've just been Sami Callahan in WWE but they didn't want him using it so that way if he gets big in WWE as Sami Callahan they don't want him going to the Indies with that same name
Lucha and Impact suits his style 100% I think he made the right decision leaving the WWE.
0:25 the guy in the background lmao
Paul SZ send for the man!
Thats my bro 🤣🤣🤣
😂
Botchamania
What a fantastic interview! And that handshake at the end topped it off nicely. Well done, Chris!
Thanks eoj! That handshake was epic!
He needs more credit than he gets. Dude pulls off the perfect heel promo work and antics to a tee but is such a chill and humble person behind the curtain
.. He's only 29. Let that sink in.
BryanTalks and why should we let that sink in? Yeah that's still young but it's not shocking.
If you take into consideration everything he's done, his reputation as one of the top indy veterans, and his stint in NXT lasting 2-3 years, he's pretty young and still has a lot more to offer. Most with his list of accolades would've been well in their thirties.

Mr. Anonymous Brock was 25 when he won the WWE Title
BryanTalks Well, its really impressive. Because, he's making a name for himself at 29. He's done so much without the WWE Brand. Its sad, how people dont appreciate people that work in the independents scene. But, they have their lips so far up WWE'S ass.
He Seems Like A Really Nice Guy 👍🏽
Yes he is and funny too
no he's a dickhead
Sachin The Gamer I've met him a couple of times at shows he's cool as shit
He is me and my boy would always hang out with him at Philly and jersey shows great to see him take TNA to a new era
Sami unlike most wrestlers can turn off the evil persona and can be a very nice personal person. I wish him nothing but success, as a wrestler he could easily have an awesome match with the 1997 Steve Austin.

All and all, it's a good story for Sami.
you dreaming WWE will bury him
3rdEye Just like Styles, Nakamura, Roode, Owens, etc. etc., shall I go on? Please, you don't know what that word means.
seymourglass26 I assume Drew's program with Adam Cole will bring him more love from Trips and Vince, so I think Drew will do fine in a resurgence to the main roster. Look at Jinder lol.

Was never a huge fan of his, but after watching this he seems so down to earth.
Never heard of him in WWE, but he seems like a cool guy. Hope he finds himself.
Ash awesome wrestler and so underrated
Yadigar Fürle cool
He was in NxT suppose to be a big heel then did a lot of face things then got released then went to lucha where he is shinning
yeah he just kinda lost to samoa joe a few times. it's fine. joe needed to beat somebody to get over.
He was for a while in NXT, but yeah, he definitely seems a cool dude.
00:27 lol
It's the second time this has happened. Apparently we need to find another interview location... haha
Vampiro Yoshi V2 Yes! 😂
Rolando Martinez
Rolando Martinez .
Rolando Martinez
Well if he's not signed to a promition he is an independent wrestler, but people do call anyone out of WWE an indie wrestler even if they are signed.

Cody Rhodes is what Christian was in the mid 2000s times 10
I thought they call them the "hottest free agent" instead
I really like Chris Van Vliet, man, great interviewer, and the star of most interviews in my opinion.
ladykiller85 Thanks man, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch my interviews!
Next name for him- Dave Eagle
Too bad the name Osprey's already taken
Supernova MCR Deagle nice
Supernova MCR Mike Bird
mike lee Birdie Johnson Smith
Tony Hawk lol.
Or Tommy Hawk
I love all these people on here calling Sami "loser" or "nobody" more than likely the type of people no one would miss if they died.
Sami is beast
I agree Sami is rad but isn't that a bit harsh
John Angelle The truth hurts
Ashley Forrester fan boys/girls that shit talk people who don't like a wrestler they do are people who nobody would miss if they died as well 👍
not to mention I'm sure he'd compare back accounts with any of them.
Little 5'6 big mouth fat boy Sami absolutely sucks!
Very cool guy. Much success to him.
Really like this guy, hes had some awesome matches in Lucha Underground recently.
Solid interview! Saw Sami in a match at WrestleCircus; he took a madman's suicide dive that made him legit look like a missile fired to the outside. Quality worker.
I can bet jon moxley thinks the same way about wwe
Latest Grand Slam on top of getting hooked up with a hot gf?is there anything to be disappointed for?
eXquisite pepe *Dean is a Grand Slam Champion now. I think he's happy.
+eXquisite pepe. According to Forbes, Dean Ambrose has earned $2.7 million since coming to WWE. I'm sure he's just crushed.
Great interview!! I can see this guy having a great future in the business!!
First wrestling interview I sat through it's entirety, nice work
Didn’t even know that Sami had a background in graphic design and art, I’ll be damned. 😂👏🏻
SilverZombie44 much like Nick Mondo
Great interview. He's so awesome.
It's alright Sami, you don't need WWE. He's got more creative freedom and can cut more badass promos, and be the highlight of the show. These guys calling him a bitch better deal with it that he doesn't need your beloved WWE.
No wwe don't need him bitch
Never seen the guy - gave up on WWE years ago - but JUST based on this interview, I am now a fan and will look for him in the future. Best of luck!
Sami Callihan vs Eddie Kingston vs John Moxley needs to happen now🔥🔥
I love Sami Callihan he's so fun to watch & he sounds like a cool guy👊
very professional attitude. he is always insane and unpredictable guy in the ring but in this interview he is really a nice guy
Sami Callahan is so dope. I got the chance to meet him on the Jericho Cruise one night randomly as he was walking around. He was cool AF
Reggae Mortis he looks like a chill dude
Great interview as always Chris, love your work!
I could literally listen to Sami all day long cuz he’s funny and I love him so much
Very good wrestler. I'm happy to see him succeed. Baron Corbin should really take his advice about learning how to be an adult who can use social media.

Would love an updated interview with this genius!
If anyone is a living legend or a legend in the making it’s him
Conversational interviews are best interviews
I Remember Watching Him At The Salvation Army In Fountain Square , He Was My Favorite Wrestler ! I Still Have His Shirt He Singed For Me And Wrote Happy Birthday On It Since My Birthday Was The Next Day 😍
Dude i cant believe that i saw sami callihan at a local indy show. Sami looks 24 and in good shape never realized how good of a legend he was.
0:26 Tribute to Road Warrior Hawk
...and Pat Patterson.
The dude at :27 seconds is a fucking hero
Wish him luck although he doesn't need it. Awesome talent when he is able to do his own thing.
I didn't even realize that was Solomon Crowe...
Great interview . You’re killing it Chris !
This guys work in lucha underground during season 2 was amazing. I haven't really watched any since it came back but I hope he's doing well.
The guy who walked in then walked out at the beginning killed me!😆😆😆
I want to to see Sami vs moxley and maybe switchblade conspiracy reunion
Yass!!!
He should join his friends in GFW
The most underrated star on NXT of all time.He signed a contract with wwe in 2013 but get released in end of 2015.NXT only use him in about 5 times in TV....
Sucks he didnt stay in wwe long. He is a good wrestler.

T r Cneil Nah definitely not 90%
You’re so awesome Chris . Liked this a lot! 👍🤘✌️😃
This interview needs to be longer.
He's so different lmao outside of the ring but I love him
Jeremiah Crane is one of the best Season 3 debuts on LU. He's going head-to-head with Dante Fox for season MVP (it depends on how his story with Catrina and Mil ends up). He's brilliant there.

Sami Callihan is a great wrestler and a really good guy.
sami is a decent stand up guy.he knows how to get over as a heel.hes a business man st the end of the day and he is right kill that "INDIE" in pro wrestling cus at the end of the day pro wrestling is pro wrestling it doesnt matter what company u work for.much respect to sami and the other men n women making a name for themselves without the machine known as the WWE
Sami Callihan is a smart business man for his age.
Doesn’t seem like it when he’s spitting all over the ring, but he seems like a chill ass dude 🤣
Ikr XD
I remember this guy from nxt i saw and i was like this guy looks fucking awesome then he just disappeared. Great interview
I see Sami being IMPACT world champion
Great interview
I went to an nxt house show went to the bathroom was peeing looked to my right and it was him and I was at a lost for words then he went straight back through the looker room door because it was connected even and then my friend came out the stall and said who was that haha

Inside the ring: Sami the brutal wrestler who Piledrive people on steel chairs.
Outside the ring: Sami the friendly, talented graphic designer who designs cool ring gears.
Great! Love all over you! Cheers!
Solomon Crane sounds better. I don't understand why WWE has to change good names. He could've just been Sami Callahan in WWE but they didn't want him using it so that way if he gets big in WWE as Sami Callahan they don't want him going to the Indies with that same name
..... Shut up BIRD! 😂
Anybody know what show I got that from?.....
Sami is badass
God I fucking love sami super cool dude and a true amazing wrestling talent
I remember this dude doing a weird intro for a Wrestling With Wregret video.
I can't believe Vliet kept that last part where Sami broke kayfabe. (+)
Wrestling is a product and a business and every company is a different size ,it doesn't and Shouldn't matter what size the company is it's the talent
Yooo his voice sounds so different 🤘🏻
Look how young he looks here, dude has aged 20 years in 5. Even his voice
Sami callihan is awesome in every way
Two Guys talking about a bunch of stuff not many now what they are talking about. Good vid.
