If I'm not mistaken, this “Ave Maria” by composer and conductor Igor Krutoy is a work in vocalize format, completely unpublished, although it seems to be a variation of the initial theme (not the introduction but the singing part) of the melody by Schubert adapted to Dimash's voice in order to explore just as three initial notes and changing the fourth note to a higher note (From B4, A4 D #4 C #4 and B4 to G #4, G4, G4, D #5): Like a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (from dark to light)! It also seems to refer to the Russian V. Vavilov's version of "Ave Maria" (wrongly credited to Caccine) and work by JS Bach - Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, with arrangements by Gounod, which Maetro Igor Krutoy has a predilection for!

Belgian-born Canadian singer Lara Fabian, Aida Garifullina (a Russian lyric soprano who performs at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and with the Vienna State Opera), and Dimash were rehearsing “Ti amo cosi” < ruclips.net/video/XaQFfqC3lnU/видео.html >. It is refreshing to see analysis by an obviously fully trained soprano to what so many call Dimash’s “falsetto soprano.” Unlike all of the contemporary musicians that do reactions, you understand this amazing countertenor; how rare it is for a male voice and how much work it has taken over many years for Dimash to achieve such purity in range and tone. Please continue your insightful reviews of this amazing artist.
Dimash can indeed sound like a countertenor (or even a soprano!), but he's actually a natural tenor - a fact Dimash has himself confirmed, as have his own teachers and university lecturers, and countless other professionals around the globe!
I can kind of see where you're coming from, though (unless I've misunderstood in translation?) - I mean, it's one thing to have the ability to sing such very high (and low!) notes, but to be such a virtuoso in every part of that range, that you could easily be mistaken for a true countertenor, tenor, baritone or even bass?... it's incredible, for sure! But that's our Dimash - and Dimash is Dimash!😆 (and of course, I just adore the man to pieces!💕)

Rechenka also is a masterpiece in performance. Still the best performance I've seen my whole life and i'm older than you.^^

Please react to Dimash singing "Ikanaide" from Tokyo Jazz festival. He is singing in Japanese. He did this same song in Chinese. It was called "Autumn Strong". Both heartfelt.
This was a very enjoyable reaction and analysis. Dimash's rendition of "Ave Maria" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever listened to, and only Dimash's voice could evoke such a profound emotional response in me. This rendition touches the very core of my soul. I have watched this performance numerous times already since it premiered, and no matter how many times I have already watched it, I am still moved to tears the moment I hear the first note sung by Dimash's angelic voice.
This was the final of three songs Dimash premiered in August 2021 during his appearance at the annual New Wave music competition in Sochi, Russia. He once again performed with Igor Krotoy on the piano. This is a vocalise interpretation of Schubert's "Ave Maria " 's opening vocals." Igor Krutoy composed this rendition for Dimash; it is not a cover. I read somewhere that the piece uses only three bars from the original composition and changes the fourth note to a higher note.
Someone explained that Dimash called Igor Krutoy with an idea for a brand new interpretation of Ave Maria and asked him to compose the music. Dimash is said to love Gregorian choral music, which is where he got the inspiration. Igor composed the music, after which Dimash conceived these exquisite vocals. Someone else likened it to "a leap from "dark to light" which is the same contrast as Dimash's outfit (dark to light)!"
Another “Dear” fittingly described Dimash’s performances like this: "Every time I hear this beautiful man sing, it feels like he punches a hole in my chest and holds my heart in his hands, holding it so gently, until he finishes singing. Then releases it and removes his hand from my chest, and I'm left with an empty, aching feeling which can only be filled by listening to him sing again! It's a beautifully tortured relationship with Dimash."
The last note Diamsh sings is known as "Messa di Voce," the singing of a gradual crescendo and decrescendo on a long sustained note. It is considered one of the most challenging vocal exercises, and voice experts regard it as the ultimate test for any singer, a skill even the most experienced vocalists rarely ever master.
There are at least 11 other compositions titled "Ave Maria" and over 40 different renditions of these versions. The version most people are likely familiar with is Schubert's 1825 composition or the 1853 Gounod composition, based on a famous Bach keyboard prelude written 137 years earlier. *This is the famous composition of Ave Maria misattributed to G. Caccini (1551-1618). It was actually composed by Russian composer Vladimir Vavilov in the early 1970s. He was forced to attribute most of his music to someone other than himself because any religious composition at that time, especially one invoking the Virgin Mary, was criminal under the communist dictatorship governing the Soviet Union.

What I would really love your reaction to is any performance by the S.Korean singer Sohyang. While Dimash is widely regarded as the ‘king’ when it comes to vocals, many regard Sohyang as his queen. Apart from immaculate vocals from a technique point of view, what really sets her apart is her ability to make you ‘feel’ what the song is about,!even when she is singing in Korean, which most of us don’t understand a word of. She has the advantage over Dimash in that she speaks pretty good English so she doesn’t really have an obvious accent when singing songs in English.
I am in no doubt that I am not going to be the only one recommending Sohyang to you but it’s difficult to know what performances to recommend first because she always performs to the same amazing level. Most people, myself included, seem to follow the same path so here are my suggestions to start your journey ( I say ‘start’ your journey because I am sure that once you hear her sing you will want to return & hear her sing again, but be careful as she is very addictive 😂).
To start, either her rendition of a song you are probably already familiar with, her performance of ‘Bridge over troubled water’ from the ‘immortal songs 2’ series. Apart from her vocal talent she is also a very talented musical arranger & is responsible for the arrangements of all songs she performs ( in addition to been a published author of fiction & a university lecturer by day).
OR:
Her performance, again from the ‘immortal songs’ series, of the traditional Korean folk song ‘Arirang Alone’ which has been turned from a rather simple ‘ploddy’ folk song in to the more ‘anthemic’ number you will witness if you choose this option.
If you’d rather see something more current then I suggest you check out her performances from a series done during the pandemic called ‘begin again Korea’ where a talented, but small, ensemble of singers/musicians went in to various work places/ public spaces & put on mini-gigs ( they were essentially busking) for essential workers etc & were more acoustic in nature but as ‘live’ as you can possibly get & with this in mind I highly recommend you start with her interpretation of WH’s (act Dolly Parton I know!) ‘I will always love you’.
I also recommend that you listen to at least one of her performances before you look in to her back story etc because you may end up with a tear in your eye before you hear her sing a note.
This amazing ladie’s amazing technique allows her to literally sing any genre & her performances available to view on RUclips will show this, pop, rock, blues/jazz, the big power ballads & she can even rap (the song ‘day day’) but het heart is in gospel music & many of her arrangements include elements of gospel in songs that are not usually associated with that genre in their original form.
I look forward to at least one reaction to this amazing lady & whether or not she is your ‘cup of tea’ as we say here in England, I know that you cannot fail to be impressed by what she does.
