    Hello Mr De Castro. I've been playing for decades, and watching instructional videos on YT for a bit more than 1 decade. This particular instructional video is one of the most helpful I've ever seen, and you are one of the best teachers I've seen also, based on a sample size of 1 (this video). So thanks! From a grateful new subscriber living in Dunedin, New Zealand. P.S. What a tasty little intro you played there!

    I have been playing guitar for 40 years and found this incredibly helpful. I never realized that my thumb will sometimes slip parallel as opposed to perpendicular. In fact if you really want to see the biggest difference with the thumb position, for those of you that I’ve tried the spider technique or the spider finger exercise to improve your finger strength, try doing the exercise with your thumb in each position and you will see a tremendous difference when it’s done properly the way this dude just explained it.

    So important for beginners to understand the bio-mechanics of the hand to start off with good playing habits. I love the explanation of that before the exercise demonstration. Understanding that along with the exercises is a great foundation for unlocking the hand for better finger independence.

    Thanks man, great exercise! Ive hardly used my pinky in solos for my 40 something years of playing. I love exercises now, they are the only way to acquire technique. INTENSITY- do it correctly, FREQUENCY- do it daily, DURATION- in a week or two you have acquired the skill. That is how "muscle memory" works. Sorry if I'm ranting. Thanks for the vid.

    • @mertercek
      @mertercek 3 года назад

      @@dipensubedi5666 They move independently yes but more important point than that it's more stable. For example when thumb is low positioned pinky is not shaking. And therefore when you need pinky it's ready to play. You're theaching it to be cool with this exercise. But it takes time so be patient. :)
