This is the best tutorial on changing acoustic strings I’ve seen. When I first started changing my strings there were a lot of things I never learned from the tutorials and you didn’t miss any of those details. I wish I had watched this one first to save me from all my bad setups and the anxiety inducing moments I had tuning my guitar and feeling everything was about to explode. Great job!

Taught myself everything on the guitar I play by ear always would pay to have my strings change and it would cost so much. After watching your video I changed my strings today on my guitar sounds 100% better and all I had to do was paid for my strength thank you for such a great video keep jamming on and making great videos

I’ve been using a method for inserting the strings and bridge pins that I learned from a Taylor Guitar video in which the (otherwise excellent) luthier does it so quickly and expertly that he has forgotten over the years what he is really doing and why. He says ‘string - pin - pull’ and appears to be pushing the bridge pin all the way down before pulling hard on the string. But when I went back and slowed it down I could see he was doing what you recommend - but so quickly and with such perfect timing that it looks like the pin is all the way down before he pulls. But it isn’t (and he doesn’t say anything about that subject). It just goes to show that being expert at something does not necessarily make you a good teacher. You are an excellent teacher, as well as being an expert.

I've recently gotten more hands on with my guitars and started restringing and doing maintenance myself instead of taking it to a luthier whenever i need something done. I had terrible problems with my last restring on my Maton acoustic guitar I use brass pins and they kept relentlessly wanting to pop out. your tutorial has filled me with confidence, thanks so much.!

Equalize sa guitara maganda kapag may reverb ang guitar amp. Mo napaka importante ang reverb.. ito ay nag papabigat ng tugtug at nag papaganda sa tunog ng guitara.. kung acoustoc gamit mo wag na mag lagay ng echo. Reverb lang. Ibaba mo ng kaunti ang Mid. Para hindi ma ingay i kasaks ang acoustic..
Sir perf: winding strings, eyes wide open, relax. Me: installing strings, starting to tighten while trying to put my head and my face away the guitar and wanted to wear a helmet. Putting cloth into the fret board incase every thing goes wrong and very nervous.
I love this tutorial the most. I am new to guitar and have changed my strings twice. I changed them for the first time by watching a Fender video and changed the second time by learning from this video. I liked this method more because it locks the string end on the neck and it doesn't require trimming the string ends before winding and which makes winding much easier. The only thing I would change here is that for strings #5 and #6, I would leave a slack of 1.5 x pegs instead of 2 x pegs. When I left 2x slack on the #6 string, the string was overlapping when tuned and I had to unwind the string and leave 1.5x slack and rewind and this is where not trimming the strings was helpful.

Just put your hand into the guitar and adjust the end ball to the right place. Do it with all 6 strings and then go take them to the tuner machines one by one and tune it. If the Pin and the ball in the right place it still lift the pin up a little so when you tune up the guitar check and push back the pins from time to time ;)

Thank you for this great tutorial. My low-E string bridge pin can't get fully seated - no matter what I try, it is a shade higher than the rest. I can hear buzzing from the Low-E bridge pin area when the other strings are played, especially the D and low-E. Is this a common problem?
Try changing the bridge pins around. On older guitars they wear according to the string they're used with and most times we just take the bridge pins out and reinstall them in random order.

I'm very confused. The strings only need to turn 1 rotation and they are already tight. For my low e string, just half a rotation and its already tight. In this video the strings looped like 3 or 4 times around?!!? Even when i give it tonss of slack instead of pulling it a bit tight while turning, it tightens superrrrr quickly before it can make even a full loop. Everything works... for now... but there is only 1 string loop around the metal looper nut thing on the head instead of 3 or 4. Whats going on?

Pro tip: If you're putting all of the string at once here is a way to do it a little faster and easier (in my opinion) Step 1: Take of all of the strings Step 2: Put one string at the time in the hole and put the pin after the string. When the pin is placed just reach inside the guitar and push the little ball end with your finger while pulling on the string a little bit so it secure and not at the end of the bridge pin. It works like a charm every time and you don't need any readjustments. Step 3: After putting all the bridge pins in the hole wound your strings and tune up. Hope it helps. Cheers

Step 2: Put one string at the time in the hole and put the pin after the string. When the pin is placed just reach inside the guitar and push the little ball end with your finger while pulling on the string a little bit so it secure and not at the end of the bridge pin. It works like a charm every time and you don't need any readjustments.
Step 3: After putting all the bridge pins in the hole wound your strings and tune up.
