probably the first video on youtube that shows the power of this incredible drum module! thanks Adrien ;-)
Thanks for the feedback bro ! Glad it can help!
If I get the Td 50 pack will it work with td27?
Thank you Adrien for taking the time to do this - very helpful! NICE ONE!
Finally all this makes sense now ! Thank you so much for making such quality videos !!
Thanks for your feedback buddy ! Gald it helped
Love your videos. Helping me onboard with Roland Vdrums.
Just to let you know : I posted a link in the description of the video giving you loads of details on how to record yourself through USB. You're welcome ! ;)
Very informative! Thanks for putting so much effort into this! Very nice production (audio/lightning), broadcast quality!
Thanks man, I do my best, so glad it was helpful !
Very informative and well put together video. Very helpful. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback
Besides being a great drummer you are also a great teacher! Thanks for this effort that most certainly will help others!Never heard you speak before, but your accent is cool! Thanks
I appreciate that man, thanks for the feedback !
Finally it's better with subtitles. Thank you
😂😂😂. You speak a very good english tho !
I always faszinated about the sound of Roland. And I love your drumming
thanks man :) they indeed sound very good
This is exactly what I needed for multi tracking
Thank you! You gave so much info in this cideo and the accompanying one. I just got my TD27KV yesterday and played it for the first time today. Its a little overwhelming at first. You explained a lot!
I will be drumming with ine hand so i have an unusual set-up. I will be playing with hats in the middle at 12:00 on my snare. Only using a 10" cymbal there, and the VH10 to the left. I also use a kick pedal and Tower as a snare for two "handed" playing when needed. Worked all day on trying to get everything so i can reach things fast, and to be able to hit 2 drums at once woth both ends of the stick when necessary. Not as easy as i thought it would be....
BUT
You answered a MAJOR question for me! I didn't see where i could set the middle hats as ALWAYS CLOSED! Exactly what i needed!! I don't know how i missed it but i dealt with a lot today. Thank you so much. Can't wait to get back out to my drum shed tomorrow!
Just subscribed, and will probably be buying your presets. Keep up the great content on e drums and recording!
Thanks for these very detailed videos!
Glad it was helpful!
Great Video! Keep it up.
This was such a great video! Thanks for taking the time to do it and do it well. I just ordered my kit yesterday. Liked and subbed!
Thanks for the feedback buddy, so glad it was helpful ! I hope you got it, delivery are slow those days ! have fun with it !
@@Adrien-Drums Thank you! Hoping for a mid-Feb. arrival apparently. Can't get here soon enough!
@@jabottom I feel ya, I have ordered stuff in the beginning of january, and still didn't arrived... Hang on ! ;)
Wow - this is such an incredibly useful video! It's better than a manual ;)
Much appreciated!!!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for the feedback buddy ! If you need I have other video on the TD 27 going deep on the sound editing !
That is some pretty technical stuff your explaining....but I like it. Wish I could get this module.
It is! glad you enjoyed it bro ! I hope you will !
Very helpful thanks!☺️👍
Glad it was helpful! cheers
Very useful thanks
Brilliant thank you Adrien 👍
Thanks for the feedback buddy !
That's the funniest ending I've ever seen.... Worth subscribing just for that 😂😂. Oh, yes the rest of video was excellent! Thankyou (i did subscribe before...)
Great video! So helpful! I have a question in regards to how you record your drum covers. Is it possible to do an output track for just the mix in to the daw? For some reason the mix in always goes through the room and overhead channels. How do you record your covers? Can you perhaps post a video on this? Do you record an audio track on your daw first and then play along with separate tracks on your drums? Do you do run a mix in through your td27 and then out to the daw? Also what would be super helpful is using the td 27 for live performance. Nobody has done a video on that yet. Covering features like getting the best sound out and playing with a mix in would be great!!
Fantastic run-down, great work dude! I'd kill to be able to be as concise with my content haha! Oh, and I'm really enjoying the TD-27 - think it might be edging it over the 50!
haha 😂! Well man if I'm being honest, the first draft was twice as long so I had to restrain myself ;) Well, that's actually an interesting point, I'm actually questioning myself about wether I prefer the TD 27 or the TD 50. There are pro and cons, I might do a video on that to figure that out haha ! But I definitely love the new ambiance design, the way that the settings are presented, the fact that it's compact, . But when I get back to the TD 50, I feel an extra punch in the sound. Tho it might be just because the preset is different.... But overall I feel the same, if I had to choose I think I would stand with the TD 27.
@@Adrien-Drums I'm going to purchase a kit, soon, and would love to see you do an in-depth comparison of the 27 vs 50. What functions are found on the 50 that aren't on the 27? How often do you, personally, use those extra functions? Is there anything on the 27 that is not available on the 50? I've been looking around for a good, in-depth discussion on this, but have yet to find anything satisfying. Thanks for the videos you've been posting -- they're very informative.
Here you go buddy : ruclips.net/video/PG4Chz9JqnM/видео.html Let me know if was useful !
Nice video Thanks a lot!!!🙂
Glad you liked it!
Awesome module.
Indeed it is! Do you have it ?
@@Adrien-Drums I wish. Had to get rid of my electric and go acoustic. I’m blind and the pads on my Roland were to small. I’m currently using a Sonor.

Hola Adrien.
Merci pour tes videos.
Ma 507 arrive dans quelque jours, jai deja le pied à l'étrier grâce a toi.
Merci, belle suite à toi
Very useful video, thanks! Great tip about the OH and RM output channels. I'm going to try that out. Would be great to hear more in depth about how you set everything up in your DAW. I see 3 or 4 Ride stereo tracks, I'm curious why so many :-)?! Myself, I record both midi (with Addictive Drums) and a couple of wav tracks from the TD-27 (but not for all pads... the Garageband files will become huge ;-). Then I blend them together (midi louder, the rest quite softer). It gives a nice blend in my opinion. I'm going to check out your other videos! \m/
Thanks bro ! nope I just have one track for the ride! I don't love the ride THAT much haha ! cheers
Thanks for this. I just got the TD-27 and PD-140DS. You’re multitrack tutorial into Logic Pro, makes this a game changing pro kit.
I’m adding on all the VAD506 pieces now.
very good!!!! I like to play drums by you!!
Thanks
I play mine every single day have barley scratched the surface with the module I love it so much. I bought an alesis kit and regretted it literally day 1 took it back and got the TD27 and the build quality and sound and just overall quality is leagues above the strike pro
Wise choice bro haha ;) Glad you enjoy it too.
Did you buy the Strike Pro SE? I'm trying to decide between that and the TD27! The kick drum looks way better but the multitrack output of the Roland would be better for recording. Any advice? Thanks!
I'm here to watch the whole explanation again. :)
Great video! I consider to buy the VAD 506 and your videos are very helpfull to gain more information about it.
Just a hint: your shop link to your presets is outdated. :)
Oh shit ! thanks for the feedback !
This is great but would it be possible to make a more in depth tutorial on recording the drums midi notes, free daws for both windows and macs, and drum vsts like ssd5? it would rlly help a lot thanks!
I will think about that !
You need to go slower on multitrack recording for newbies!
Adrien, do you give private lessons related to the functions of different e-drum functions. I have a TD-27 and I'm having some issues that I can't seem to solve on my own with just the manual and RUclips as my references.
Helpful tutorial sir. Thank you! I’m just curious if it possible to make the routine the way so all the toms could be send into a one track, so these would be not as separate ones. It would be much easier to work if toms are recorded as single track and not to balance each instrument ( toms) meaning that toms were already played with dynamic and there’s no need to set them on different tracks. Thanks in advance if someone would answer me.
Hey, Adrien... nice videos about the TD-27. They helped a lot already. One question when you mentioned having the same kit with little differences, is it possible to copy one user kit to the next empty user space, so you don't have to start each one from scratch (preferably without sd card)? Thank you.
Yes absolutely ! You just have to copy the kit on the kit edit and past it wherever you want !
Thanks for the vid. I am having trouble going Midi out of the TD-27 to SSD5. Are you using a Midi out cable to USB or the midi out usb on the side of the module? You showed it in the vid but it was a quick cut.
Hi Adrien, it’s me again hope all is well so far in the early part of a new year with even better things to come I’m sure. Quick question finally got everything up and running using multi tracking with my td27.Whew!!!!!! Now the problem I have is all the individual tracks are recording but I can’t here the recorded tracks through my monitors only through my headphones.what am I doing wrong? Keep up the good work and thank you.
Thanks in advance,
Darrell
I think it comes from Logic, not your drum module! So how did you manage to make it work, what was missing ? cheers and happy new year
For some reason, when I was trying to set up the routing for the OHs and room, the arrow keys worked for Pad Mas and Pad Dir but wouldn't do anything for Other Mas and Other Dir. I then discovered that you need to use the jog wheel to cycle through the routing options. A bit confusing but all sorted now (the jog wheel works for all four menus).
Amazing video! I have an older TD30k which I love and it has served me well for many years, but I'm really tempted to sell it and get the newly released TD27kv2 with the digital snare, hh & ride for $3500. Do you think it's a worthy upgrade?
Hi Adrien, thanks a lot for making that Video. Even that it‘s a year ago. 😅
I recently did buy a TD50X.
I wanna do studio multitrack recording 14 stereo channels, like in this Video.
But I want to record the Midi Data for later options at the same time.
Do you think that‘s possible? And if so how?
Thanks!!
Hey Man! Nice Video and very good instruction of the parameters you have to chose to record several tracks in the DAW!
Would you recommend using the roland samples as audio export to the daw more than just recording by MIDI?
We´re planning to do album records in the next few time with the roland and we´re not quite sure if we should use MIDI (better editing abilities, simpler routing,..) in combination witz EzDrummer2 Rock Solid Sounds Library oder just go with the Roland included Audio Samples...
Thanks for your feedback man. It totally depends on your needs. Using internal sounds I think is a quicker way to do things, and if you think that the sound is a good match for what you do it's perfect. Now as for myself, I like to record with midi, because even tho the feeling is less good, it gives me room to change the sound during the mix if needed. For example if the snare doesn't sounds exactly how I want it, instead of re-recording myself, I can just change the sample. So it depends on your workflow and your needs. Sometimes I use the internal sounds when I have to do a quick home studio session, but most of the time, when I have to do a proper, mix as I always try to make the kick and snare match perfectly the pitch of the song, so I use samples. I hope that makes sense !
Hey - I had this same question and would love to know why you think the “feel” isn’t as good using midi.
I just bought this kit to upgrade from my small TD-4 simply because the TD-4 midi could not be read cleanly. For example, if I kicked the kick drum it would trigger the ride or something.
So I thought buying an expensive new kit would allow for clean midi transfer.
I too like the idea of using the Td-27 as a midi controller with superior drummer - allows for more control on dynamics and instrument switching. Last questions: can you multi track different room-mic voicings using midi or only audio? And is superior drummer your favorite drum VST?
Great video. Thanks for your help
You can explain again how can I do my gig kits in one list and the list with different ambients?
Hi man! Good video. Do you understand how to route the room and reverb to be a part of each single channel (snare, tom1, tom2 etc)?
Don't know if you can do that
What are the settings for your high hats? Can't get me response or attack to respond fast enough. Not sure what I'm doing wrong being that I have tried every setting that I have researched or capable of doing. Thanks and live your videos
me and a friend have a 2 piece band at the moment we both play guitar but i'm naturally a drummer and I thought that if we went to me playing the drums it would give us a real good dynamic that no other 2 piece groups around here have my question is we use custom tracks so would it be possible to drop the drum track which that part I know we can but can the metronome be set for each song if you know the tempo so we can play each song in real time?thanks man ...Alex
Hi Adrien! Can you make a video on how to generate drum sheet music from the Roland td27? Can you record and generate sheet music at the same time? Thanks!
Great suggestion!
Salut Adrien !
Hey Adrien
I'm going to buy the TD-27 KV soon and after that I want to try out creating DrumCovers by myself. My problem is, I dont where Drummers get their Tracks from. Do you buy them or can you just donwload them? Whats to consider bout the copyright? If you could do a video bout that or answer me id be very greatfull!! Wishes
As a matter of fact, I will do a vide on that subject ! quick answer, I use the original
Thank You! You should have been the person who wrote the manual. This old geezer was going crazy trying to figure this out.
Haha ! Glad I could help my friend ! What have you been struggling with ?
how i can mix an external sample from a module ( mix in) and export the recording with the td27kv kick output (blended)?
Just got my first Roland kit how do I add songs to play to onto the module where my other song samples are?
Adrien, is there a way to get the MFX settings to pass through the USB per pad separately? I haven't been able to figure out how to do that. I just get dry through the USB into my DAW (Logic Pro X). I can get MFX through the master out, but I want MFX adjustments per pad separately if possible. Seems like there should be a way to do that. Figure it's maybe in the system/output section but not sure how that maps to the default USB pairs that are hard coded. Really enjoy your videos and bought your sample kits. Such a wealth of info. thanks in advance - Michael
Not sure what you mean, MFX for the snare going to one track, then MFX for the kick going to another track ? Don't think it's possible... thanks for the feedback my friend !
Hello Adrien, This is video is so helpful in setting up my multi track. Couple of questions 1) I was trying to follow the settings that you have chosen in Logic when you select the tracks. As it is in spanish, I was not able to follow - I assume , The audio input also I have to choose Input 1 +2 as like output 1+2? 2) The volume of my recorded track is very low once I finish the recording, This is same fo all the individual tracks from drums. Do i need to change anything with the USB audio setup - I mean increase input or output gain , I have currently +2db for both input and output, driver mode is VENDOR as you explained. Can you please clarify this. The is the best video out there and a nice walkthrough.
Thanks! It's in French :) To see the routing in Logic pro X, pause at 6:10 in the video. Yes increase output gain on the drum module.
Any advice would be really appreciated !!
I also wish @roland update the click.. I’d love to tap it on my PD8 pad so the click adapts to the tempo during playing
If you record midi from the USB port, can you have this recorded midi go back into the module through USB to trigger the sounds in the module? If yes, how would you set this up in a DAW? I am using Studio One on Windows 11.
Is it possible to use the TD-27 as a Drum Machine? Record a setlist that can playback using the sounds of the TD-27 ONLY no PC running software.
Can I load backing tracks to a SD card to play along for live shows
I have a roland td27, an audio interface, pc (windows) and I want to record with a usb cable from the td27 to the pc and NOT with a midi cable (in,out). Can you tell me in detail what to connect with which cables specifically the wiring between td 27brain, audio interface and pc? you can help me;
In 1:09, can you explain more precisely how to export a .wav from a snare sound (VST) ?
I use ableton and Superior Drummer 3 but I don't find how to do that...
Adrien Drums thanks for this video. Is it possible to import SSD samples to SD card so i can play it on the td module? thanks in advance
Absolutely !
Thankyou Adrien. I have the Vad 506 as well I have never imported a sample... with respect to importing a sound from SSD do I have to pay for the the library and then download all of it to be able to import say a bass drum sound to my module or can I find a site that allows me to download for free?
You can find both free and paid samples on the internet. SSD is definitely not free but it's cheap an worth every peny
Hi Adrien, great video. I followed your instructions "Recording Audio with USB" However, I don't understand the 14 tracks? I'm only getting playback on the drum kit, no room or ambience. How do I get these to work?
You might wanna check the inputs on your DAW. Check out mine on the video : stereo 1-2. Stereo 3-4 etc....
How would you rename your user kit?
can you route the click to headphones and the drums (without click) to FOH?
I am looking for the simplest way of recording my audio performance made on my TD27 and getting it on my mac so that I can combine it with guitar/keyboard tracks created by other musicians. Would the best solution be using a USB wire connection from my module directly to the mac, and then importing my drum tracks into Garageband?
You can directly record within Garageband with the Usb cable :)
Question: how on earth do you get the metronome to play over the 'song' in sync?? The older kits did this automatically...these ones do not.
I have our band jamming silently. Focusrite 18i20. I have the drums master outs via long trs cables. The headphones are coming from headphone out of Focusrite. The band sounds good but the drums sound distant from the mix coming from the Focusrite. I haven’t changed any output settings. Any help?
I've followed the video and got multi track working w my TD 27 using Logic ProX. My only issue is that my output for all my recording is routed back through my TD27 headphones for playback, not my audio setup connected to my Mac? I am admittedly very new to Logic but everything else you told me to do worked and I copied all of your settings (input assignments) so I figured it worth a shot asking if you have a solution. Thanks for the video.
It might comes from how you setup your channels on logic. You should check out the input and output. You can copy mine going a print screen when I show my logic pro screen
Is it possible to record MIDI and audio at the same time? Via USB?
Good afternoon,
I just purchased a pair of Jobeky hi hats and I’m having trouble calibrating them or finding anyone that knows how to do so.
Both of my drum modules are roland TD 17 and roland TD 27.
Merci. Dommage, Mr Roland, si tu nous entends...
While you can bring all of the drums individually into a DAW with the TD-27 multiple USB channels, using a mixer like an X-32 sends all channels to the same DAW using X-USB-ASIO when you are recording including the TD-27 stereo mains and 2 direct outputs. I do not think that Windows can support both USB drivers active at the same time, so recording drums individually along with the rest of the band (channels) in a live mix may not be possible. I do not know that for sure, but experience has shown trouble with integrating other drivers in DAW's like Cakewalk and the X-32, M32 ASIO USB channels.
Is there a way to do this with a cheaper Roland model?
Do head and rims have separate triggers so I can apply a different instrument to the rim, say a cowbell?
Exactly !
Hey Adrien, hope all is well with you and your family, thanks for all you do. Here’s the thing, what’s the possibility of you doing a video just on multi recording on the td27. I’m not that tech savvy enough to pick it up in this video. Why can’t Roland make things a little more straight forward? Whatever happen to just plug and play. Insert a sad card push a selection button presto! Also with the multi recording feature there’s absolutely nothing in the manual that breaks it down to understand. So again I’m asking can you please do a dedicated video on this feature and slowly break it down step by step. I will be forever grateful. By the way you’re a beast keep doing what you doing and be bless.
Thanks in advance,
D
I think I have covered pretty much everything. What are your issues ?
Hi Adrien once again. I was talking about covering just the part on using the usb type connections. As you mentioned you did cover just about everything but that’s the problem. Maybe you could do just a video on how to connect in more detail. I got kind of lost along the way. You’re saying you have to down load drivers but my module is already up to date. Instructions say don’t download if your module is already running 1.10 which when I went into system and it said 1.10. So what do I do just connect my usb to my computer and open my existing DAW? Do the drum tracks automatically generate or do I do something else? I’m pretty tech savvy but this is kind of confusing. You’re going through real fast where you can’t see exactly what you’re doing. Something about phones and ambience and reverb. I know how to record using VST’s but I would like to use the usb method
Thanks
You really have to check it a couple of time, everything is in here. I didn't talked about updating, I talked about a driver that you have to install allowing the drum module to communicate with the computer. Of course not, drum tracks will not be generated automatically, as I said in the video, you have to add 14 audio tracks on your DAW. I know there are a lot of informations in this video, but watch it a couple of times and you will see that everything is in here ;)
You were so fast it was difficult to see the settings as you were explaining video. Need to slow down!
Do you use a midi to usb cable to record midi? Or are you using an interface?
I use to use a midi to usb, now I just use an interface cable (computer to usb).
What happens when you add a pad and your your using one of the built in pre set, Does the added pad work with that pre set? Do I use a standard guitar cable to attach a new pad / trigger?
You use a stereo jack and yes they're already assigned defaults and you can change them just like all other pads, to whatever you want.
when i connect my td-27 to ableton and use spitfire labs, it doesn’t sound right, the tom makes a cymbal sound and the crash makes a snare roll and stuff like that
Is it possible to get the Logic Template for the TD-27 session?
I don't have it any more but I will put that in my to do
Bon dimanche, take care amigo !!

It should, what's not working ?
@@Adrien-Drums Hello Adrien, great video; we have been trying for weeks to make the TD-27 work for multi tracking but it seems that while all the hardware is OK, simply the Roland driver we have been trying to upload doesn't seem to work (the Roland software does not see the module as connected). CAN YOU PLEASE PROVIDE THE LINK TO DOWNLOAD THE CORRECT DRIVER? If it still does not work we shall send it for repair I suppose. Many many thanks. Steve
Just google Roland Driver TD 27 and you will find it, then select your OS (mac or windows). Eventually update the drum module also. and make sure the module is set to vendor.

Man you have good ideas but you blow through the explanation of how to multi track its extremely unclear, everyone has so many questions and it is not clear cut with the td-27. I mean even in slow motion you blowing through it. There are a billion settings in the damn module if you get one wrong ti wont work, logic pro you say "go to 14 audio" you mean create 14 audio tracks? Setting up the outputs on the td-27 is ridiculous. Roland you would think charging a million dollars a kit could throw in a fricken video of step by step. You should do a slow....ssssllllooooowwww version of how to multi track in logic with the td-27. If you do many will be the only one in the world with it. Everyone else is the same they are flying all over the place back and forth and you cant understand anything. Rolands manual sucks, what you do is great ver informative. Just a couple thoughts for you. I have been researching and over the manual and watched everything and i can get usb to record into logic and i can get left and right into interface. no multi track. Would be terrific if you could elaborate in a very detailed step by step from the module, to logic. Thank you kindly, keep up the great work.
