Super video. The side by side comparisons were so helpful thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I love my nebula too, thanks to you, perfect for van life, managed 3hrs out of mine. I actually take my Bluetooth speaker now and put it between the seats, it's like being at the cinema without the popcorn
👍
Thank you for another fantastic informative video, love watching 👌
Glad you enjoyed it 😃
Ive been using the Benq gs50 since February. I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with it.
I’ve used it when out camping, also inside my roof top tent and also projected onto the side of my vehicles door.
It’s great anywhere really. The screen will project upto 100 inch’s with great colour.
The sound quality is amazing both indoors and out.
There are loads of settings within the Gs50 that a really easy to use to give you the experience your looking for.
I’ve been using an iPhone for internet coverage and had no problems pairing.
We really liked it too, very bright picture and great software on it - better than the Nebula in that regard. We do like the nebula size, but apart from that the GS50 is fantastic!
awesome, this def persuaded me to get the Benq; thanks for the great review!
Glad I could help!
Good video. Thanks for the info. I have the Anker Capsule 2. There is a way to make the Anker Capsule II project at 1080p (vs. 720p). I assume this may also work for the Anker Capsule Max as well - but I am not 100% sure since the Capsule II runs Android TV OS and the Capsule Max does not. To make the Anker Capsule II project at 1080p do this: Go to Settings -> Go to Apps -> Go to See All - go to very bottom to Show System Apps -> Scroll down until you see 'Droid Settings' - open that -> go to Display - Screen Resolution ->
- Turn off 'Automatic Mode
- Set Display Mode to 1080p - 60Hz
- Go back out to Screen Resolution - make sure Color Depth is "ON"
Once you do this you can go to RUclips or VLC or any other app and project at 1080p and use their video information in the app to confirm the output is 1080p.
Sounds good, will need to give it a go
We have the Nebula max and we like it alot, great sound and picture and a real sense of theatre time when on at night.
We love ours too, seems to be a good compromise between cost, size and performance.
I have the Nebula Cosmos Laser 1080p and so far I freaking love it!
Not had a look at that one yet but I hear lots of great things about it 👍
Very informative video, thanks for that. Especially when using a California, size is all that matters, so I‘d go with the nebula.
Yes that’s what we thought. I think if you were always in a big group and sitting around outside a lot wanting to watch movies, sport etc then this would work well, but the Nebula seems a good compromise between cost/size/performance.
How do i connect my IPhone to it so I can mirror my phone
Thanks Will, interesting review. I don't think I'd use any of them outside and the price and size of the Benq is a consideration. I can understand the need to watch TV or movie in the van if weather is poor or just relaxing at night but so far haven't used one. Now I have the information I need if I do decide to get a projector.
Wanted to buy the GS50 but at $799 I decided to go with the GV-30 for $329 instead. Probably regret the decision.
Have to add some extra pennies to my penny jar - but looks good and....... matches the colour of my van!
I hadn’t spotted that with the colour - that’s ace!
Good review Will. For me neither really appeals at the moment because we don’t watch much TV when away camping. When we do, we find an iPad mounted on one of the front seat headrests + a Bluetooth speaker is quite adequate within the confines of the Cali. Perhaps less hassle setting up and tearing down too? Just our preference.
If I was buying one, of the two you’ve compared I’d favour the small Anker Nebula unit over the Benq. The Benq just looks too big for a Cali. Better quality picture and sound, yes but where would you place it in the van to enjoy the stereo sound output?
We were surprised about the additional depth of sound from the benq rather than being wowed by the stereo nature of it. I suppose the bigger physical box the speakers are mounted in and the dedicated small sub speaker driver helps somewhat.
As someone else has already mentioned, the Xgimi Halo projector is amazing. I have one and the sharpness and brightness far outweighs the Nebula (which I also have). Sound-wise, the Benq would outweigh the Halo but, taking everything into account, including user interface, the Halo comes out on top.
Sounds great, would love to try/see one at some point 👍
Personally I found the color on all Xgimi projectors to be quite off and unnatural. BenQ does an amazing job in that field. Also I'd rather send my money to them instead of China state owned xgimi
How are you charging that thing? Any power bank i can use?! Because if its built in battery it wont last longer than 45min-1hr. Whats the options for charging or keeping it on longer without the electricity or outlets
Well the California has a built in 240v inverter so that could be used, or there are now USB C PD power banks out there that could charge it too, although they are pricey.
What about XGIMI Halo+ ? Have you ever tried it?
We haven’t but have just looked at the spec of it and it looks like a BEAST!
Can you do a review about XGIMI Halo? It looks great.
We’ll do our best!
Can you tell us about the screen you had please Will
Sure - it’s here in our video - ruclips.net/video/0US6pZr2ZN4/видео.html but I think they are currently out of stock for a few weeks of the screen.
What projection screen do you use.?
This one: VW California Projector & Screen *THE BEST SOLUTION!*
ruclips.net/video/0US6pZr2ZN4/видео.html
The screen itself is temporarily out of stock but coming back in a few weeks I believe.
Is it possible to install Android TV on capsule Max?
Not that we know of.
Just a thought Will - nothing to do with projectors - but if, in the future you decide to fit a solar panel, please can you do a video on that. But maybe you don't want one. Just a thought - as your videos are so good. I've seen other videos on this subject but they don't give enough paced detail.
It’s not something we’ve ever been bothered with to be honest, but have you seen the latest A Bus and Beyond video released on Sunday? They fit one on their Beach.
@@CampervanTime Yes I follow them and saw that video Will - not enough 'instruction' for me re the wiring up. But thanks for responding.
@@ginabrooks8492 ahh ok, I best get thinking about how we can test one out then!
@@CampervanTime Awesome!
@@CampervanTime Actually, the kit they use looks great as there is no drilling into the roof - it fits into the rail slots. but I'm no sparky and it wasn't easy to follow the wiring side of things.
Does it generate wifi ?
I'm not sure to be honest, we used it on wifi but not sure if it hosts it's own wifi for any reason
i will have to send santa a letter
Yes, let’s hope he has deep pockets this year!!
Does it work on ios?
I honestly don’t know. I have searched high and low but cannot find a definitive answer if it has airplay functionality.
You cannot charge that projector via USB.
It can via USB C, we did it.
@@CampervanTime Odd considering everybody else says you can't and even the website says that's limited to like 45W of PD.
To be honest they are both poor projectors. The Xgimi range are far far superior.
Would love to try a Xgimi, the specs look great.
@@CampervanTime we have an xgimi elfin. Fabulous bit of kit. If you sign up to the mail list then on xgimi day they give you a massive discount. 👍👍👍
