    With Morocco co-hosting the World Cup in 2030, I hope they continue the high-speed line to the other host cities, linking them with the other venues in Spain and Portugal.

      Unless the Gibraltar Strait Bridge/Tunnel is completed in 5 years it looks like they won't be connected to Spain and Portugal.

      @Yanzdorloph 5 дней назад +1

      @@alfrredd they both seem comited to make that tunnel finaly happen, but I highly doubt it will finish before 2030 if it even gets made(Morocco's small economy could hardly keep up with the cost of building such a project, and the EU is not ready to pay for most of it), but they most def will have TGV between Tangier and Marrakech ready by then, wish is nice.

      @DarkTitan-wm5zn bro they are still working on it, no one said it's impossible, only hard, due mainly to the depth rather than quakes

    • @FrozenOxy101
      @FrozenOxy101 4 дня назад

      @Yanzdorloph Yes the cost estimate is inhibitive at this moment, but it's important to note that large projects don't work like that. Usually the state provides assurances to investors who actually finance and run the infrastructure for a given number of years.
      If the financial scheme works, meaning there is financial incentive in building it, there alwyas be someone with deeper pockets to finance and own it.

    As you correctly mentioned Morocco was a france protectorate for over 40 years, so they had control over foreign affairs and military. But i don’t think there is any influence over architecture or culture. You’re talking about an empire of 13 centuries of history, unlike otheR colonies like Algeria where the influence is tremendous over all aspects of life

    6:36 To answer this question, yes. France does get its part in the new Marrakech HSL. Among other things, they'll supply 18 next gen Alstom Avelia double deckers and they've won an infrastructure contract to build a 36km section of the total 400km line.

    Did you notice Tom, that Al Boraq drives on the left? This is because of the French influence. Where did the French (and Belgians) receive their railway mentorship from, the British of course. Al Boraq also runs on 25kV AC, the European standard in the UK and France for high speed trains.

If you're planning to travel to Marrakech by train using AL ATLAS, I recommend booking First Class. The seats are spacious and comfortable.
