    If you have any questions, ask me in the comments below the video.
    In this video, I’ll show a simple solution to a problem with emissive lighting inside Lumion.
    I never noticed this myself, until a user named Koorósh messaged me on Instagram saying:
    Quick question, how do you use hidden light in Lumion for curved designs? we can use emissive material but if we can't see them they won't render, right? Did you find any solution for this matter?
    He means this type of design, which has hidden lights facing the wall.
    So, I went to further investigate this issue and found out that if the plane in which you have the emissive material is not facing the render camera, then it won’t render any light.
    So, in this video, I’ll show you how you can go from this ---- to this ---- with a very simple technique. Let’s get started!
    Oh, by the way, I just launched my Lumion Course. It’s an in-depth course in which I’m showing you all the techniques I use to achieve high quality renders with Lumion. I’ll leave a link to it in the description below this video.
    This is done using Lumion 9.5 rendering software for architectural visualization. It’s a great 3D render software that saves a ton of time for architects because it helps you achieve the level of detail and realism not available in any other similar software.
    Lumion 9.5 is fully compatible with most 3D modeling software, including Revit, SketchUp, ArchiCAD, 3ds Max, Rhino, AutoCAD, Vectorworks, and many others.

    You can copy object in modeling software and just do offset about 5-10cm. Add different material and in lumion create emissive shader with transparency. Then you don't need a photoshop😊

    the best solution is make an extra edge material that should be face to camera, give emiisiveness and make it transparent thats all

  • @ArchAhmetAksoy
    @ArchAhmetAksoy 4 года назад +25

    Emissive materials in lumion can only cast light if they are visible to the camera, so, if you allow me to share my opinion, I think the ideal solution for this case is by editing the 3D model and make that emissive back side little bit bigger. 💫

    Good tip. But if you are doing an animation and your camera is moving then you will have to spend some good amount of time to fix it in post Production. I would prefer to create the glow effect in photoshop first considering the shape of the light and save it with transparent background. Then create another plane aligned with the light and give a offset of 1mm from the wall. Put the transparent texture on the mesh and give a little emissiveness on that. This will save lot of time in post for animation videos..
    Thanks

    What a huge effort for creating a contour-shaped light gloom. If the plan is to fix it with Photoshop there might be a better way by giving the outline a self-illuminition (non-emmisive) and render the final with material-id for masking in psd. Just give it a glow or a gauschn blur with color burn etc. and the job is done in less than 2 minute

      If it's a Spotlight or Omnilight (from Lumion 11.3), press F8 and you should see the shadows in real-time. If it's a line line or area light, they don't cast shadows, so they will always pass through walls.
