I might be wrong, but that white watch looks very similar to the DZ09 generic smart watches. Which are actually quite cool as $10 mp3 players for Bluetooth headphones 👍 The old Toughpad barcode things used to run WinCE lol 6200mah battery is 😮😮😮 ALL Japanese phones used to be SIM locked. I suspect your Balmuda might have a frequency problem. That Tinno phone is worth carrying a 4G router to make Wifi/Zello/zoom calls with 👍
smoorez i actually had a galaxy note 8 that the screen was burnt in so bad that you could see the burn in on the black boot up screen! and then when it was on you HAD to set it to dark mode or anything white was purple!
That's shop is called "Shop inverse" where you got the laptops .. I buy desktops from there, it's popular with tourist who buy 10-15 laptops at a time to sell back home
I agree. Maybe DankPods videos are a little bit funnier, but for some reason Smoorez videos are more interesting, I end up watching the whole thing every time.
oh gosh they are a lot of phones, pretty much what i would do if i had money lol (and action figures as well). i kinda like the sony and that iris sensor one along with the small rakuten (it's so cute UwU). can't wait for part 2, we are going to see some "welcome-wise" phones for sure XD
gotta love japanese phones, bang for the buck having a high spec and good cam quality, especially sony, been a fan for a long time, love the vid, might gonna spent some to buy these tachy techs XD
An hour video from smuz, allready got my snacks ready. The Sony Xperia 1 burned in screen looks way worse than on my samsung s8, but hey i would use it as a daily driver.
from germany (the country that started t-mobile and vodafone) Softbank was vodafone some 16-20 years ago so it makes sense that softbank phones work on vodafone
The flickering in your videos is because mains frequency in some areas in Japan can be different (60Hz) from Australia (50Hz); there's usually a setting in the camera to set the filter to 50 or 60Hz.
As usual, funny comments and outstanding rare pièce of electronic stuff that are unknown in America or elsewhere in the world. Thanks to share you trip with us!
The translator device probably needs a new battery. You can make one by getting a battery the same size and thickness, then desoldering the BMS board with the flex cable from the old battery, and soldering it onto the new cell. That is what I always do.
Well what a total blast. I throughly enjoyed watching and hearing about your adventures. That projector was OK but what made it for me was the Devine Ms Ripley going for the snake. It never fails to surprise me when cats watch images either on screen or projected. She is just so cute. ❤ Sp cracking phones that would be awesome to do ondepth reviews on. For me it was the Rakuten phones. I only know Rakuten as a streaming app. So it would be awesome to look that these phone indepth. Looking forward to future parts lol 😂❤
Nice video, Smoorez. Do you mind uploading the system files for the Fujitsu phones (preferably the newer ones)? I'm looking for the lock/unlock sound as well as the charging sounds.
5:55 The Let's Note series of laptops are mostly made of diecast magnesium, and the screen lid is "corrugated", to add more rigidity and strength to the screen.
Lived in Japan for ~10 years and for ~3 years worked at an office in Akihabara so some lunch breaks would just go out to browse the "junk" shops, yes in Japan "junk" is just untested/not warrantied and working things most of the time. bought some "junk" DIMMs for my laptop memory test passing no problems. lots of fun memories, haven't been in Akihabara recently but from what I've seen it changed quite a bit became more of tourist "trap" attractions, with weak Yen it's got quite expensive for people living and working in Japan but cheap for tourists.
Rakuten Mini, I have that one as well I have actually two of these, both Blue. The one is in pristine condition, with tempered glass and case. Bought it for at least 20 bucks.
I actually saw the phone shown at 43:08 in Japan back in 2022 at a Bic Camera. It claims to have a MediaTek MT6761, running Android 10 with a 3300mAh battery and a 1480x720 screen resolution. For some reason it was called 'Easy Smartphone 2'.
That ToughPhone even has a Windows Phone variation/model. Panasonic FZ-E1. Not sure if there are any bussiness or industrial applications on Windows Phone though.
having same lets note type laptop (model cf-LX3) ,(2 of it ,one with a dvd-rom which keeps restarting though), and the design is till the same , except for the touchpad which is the normal square type .battery and the screw locations are the same, theres a door for acessing the ram and some solder points for a nvme slot(which is not present) .. read somewhere that its due to the japanese liking stuff to be familiar or something , thats why the design does not change much ..makes for a great laptop to tinker with though
I'm in Europe and got a Panasonic Let's Note from Japan just because i like a good Laptop without an uncomfortably flat school calculator style keyboard.
I used to have the same white watch I got it at cashies about 5 or so years ago and not long after the bezel fell off it had zero stick so in the bin it went I regret it a lot because I swear it had android on it and at the time I was still an apple boy so the only kinds of mods I knew of were jailbreaking old iPhones and iPads and old consoles
Hi Smoorez! Happy to see we are sharing the enthusiasm for "normal sized phones" (i consider all phones above 5inch frying pans:-D), and to see you discovered the R2 compact, Balmuda, and the C330:-D I recently also bought a C330, but they dont work here in EU:( Tried to "upgrade" from my Palm PVG100. Have you already tested that? It was my primary phone for several years, until they switched off 3G here (this has US 4G). I also wanted to grab a Balmuda hpkne, until i found out it is not working in EU either:( I think it was kinda dumb decision not to make it global network compatible, could have been a huge boost in sales, especially considering this is their ONLY phone, and limited to sell in JP only:(
Did you ever see a mi6x or a mi a2 , they had fully white front while having blue metal back. Get one if those, if you want to talk bezel, i own both of them.
A few of the older Xperia devices were great. The Arc was good for the time going far back. And the compact Z phones were so good. The xz/xz 2 wasn't bad either. Only the flagship phones were worth buying though, they produced some budget/mid range options but they were extremely basic, and still had a massive Sony name tax that made them insanely bad value. Biggest issue with all older Xperias is the in-fighting between the camera and mobile divisions, the camera teams didn't want the mobiles back then to actually be good. And so the camera quality was just ok. In perfect conditions it was good enough, but had major noise and compression issues compared to the best.
I have seen people change the OS of phones like the Sony ones to Samsung OS so they can run samsung dex to make them a gaming pc (connect them to a usb hub with hdmi) I think thats cool, what do you think?
If you dressed that projector up with some really deep absorbant black paint (or cloth), not on the mirror part, it would do an even better job. I gotta get one..
I wasn't paying much attention there but from what I did see...the working ones fetch a bit still. A Game Boy Micro was like 22,000 yen at a Book Off if that gives you an idea :|
@@SMOOREZ That's still pretty good for a working Micro I guess.
