Did you know? The sky maid thing isn't random. It actually comes from an add on to the end of the little mermaid. In the original, the mermaid willingly offers to get legs from the sea witch in order to court the prince. However, if she doesn't get him to love her in several days, the mermaid will turn to sea foam and die. Despite this, she becomes human but finds that the prince was with another woman already. Saddened of her imminent death, she goes over to the edge of the boat and finds her sisters there to greet her. They all used to have hair, but they all became bald because they traded their hair for a magic dagger to give to the little mermaid. Their reason? It will save her, because if she stabs the prince to death with the dagger, his blood will touch her feet and turn her legs back into a fin, thus preventing her from turning into sea foam. The little mermaid tries to do this, but can't bring herself to stab the prince and instead kisses him before leaping into the sea and dying. That was the original ending, but people didn't like it and years later a new ending was added on where the mermaid turns into an angel, or a "sky maid" after she dies because she did a good deed by refusing to kill the prince.
@@chiot888 The last part was tacked on for some behavior incentive. I kinda like the death too, as the sky maid thing just seems random. It might have to do with mermaids not having souls in the original story, though.
@@squeaktheswan2007 I remember that. The explanation given is that the mermaid liked the prince but he wasn't her real reason for wanting to be human. It was that humans had an afterlife they went to after dying while mermaids did not (mermaids lived for 200+ years before turning to seafoam and ceasing to exist). As a angel or Skymaid if she watches over the people of earth for 200 years then she would be admitted into the afterlife and wouldn't just cease to exist.

Flapjack genetically has to have a parent with blue eyes at least. A brown eyed mother could give him a 50/50 chance of having blue eyes. It's more likely that both parents have blue eyes given his hair. His hair is blond which is recessive. A brown haired parent and blond parent is very likely to produce a brown haired baby. It's more likely both parents are blond. A blond baby from a brown hair parent and blond parent is possible but less likely. He has both unlikely characteristics. His parents are most likely both blond hair/blue eyes. My theory is his parents were shipwrecked, or escaped from a larger boat that was possibly sinking. They decided to save their baby, give him a chance, so they put him on the bed of seaweed. They themselves would be too much weight and couldn't hold on. Both most likely drowned a mere few days at most before Bubby got there, otherwise Flapjack would've died. Flapjack was calm and not starving.

Ya know, this is my first time watching your stuff, gotta say, love the voice and character.
at 9:40 wind waker song starts playing who is Link's parents find out in the next episode.
We have a man of culture in our hands I see
I used to always think knuckles is imagining flap jack and bubbi that he used to be a captain of a pirate ship and flap jack was this sailer boy on that ship and one day a whale that might look bubbi but not at all attacked the ship knuckle feel into the sea flap jack died and all these episodes is all in knuckle head as he gets drunk every day off of candy which is obvious alcohol
oh my god zeus what are you doing
The show is more dark when fans tend to think that candy is drugs and syrup is whiskey and to be honest a lot of cartoons did those kinds of things
i literally miss this show soo much
underrated
This does make my heart worm.thenk you kind sir
When I was a kid I imagined both parents were travellers/adventurers or anything related to travelling, like cartography. To my understanding Flapjack's earth resembles a supercontinent type of geography. Flapjack was probably in too much danger because of the lifestyle. Plus arent rations so strict when youre months on board? Maybe the mother couldnt produce milk.
I distinctly remember watching an episode where this is revealed to be canon.
What a wild nostalgic ride, earned another sub. :3
I cannot keep my face straight every time he says Bubby as Booby
4:36 Aphrodite is hephaestus' wife, not Poseidon.
It's amphitrite. I can see where you got mixed up though.
he said amphitrite, he just pronounced it wrong
Pvz 2 pirate bg music playing behind flapjack, this here is a man of culture
your voice makes me feel like you’re going to review kickstarters that utterly failed.
Wouldnt be surprised if this is what happened, never noticed it but they are the two closes in resemblance!
The thumbnail is Joseph Smith and one of his wives, threw me for a loop
7:28 im all for calling Sugar out for anything really, but realistically healing tears are a pretty common trope in general.
So I guess the RUclips recommendations can function as intended. Subbing now.
Oh my... You sound soo Brithis that it's make me want a cup of tea.
She have black eyes but with thin blue iris... exactly like Flapjack.
And Flapjack have angel tears! And she transform into some angelic entity.
6:48
NAWNAWNAW YOU'RE GOOD THEY DID HEPHESTUS DIRTY
I just re watched this show and was wondering this exact same question.
Flapjack is exactly like Tarzan!
I always though The Adventurer was his dad!
(TLDR) Flapjack is a demigod of the sea
I forgot about this show until RUclips decided to put it on my recommended.
Man, i jusy love these kinds of episodes that want to explore the innocent wonder of a child about the true reality of life.
Also I've been wondering....
WHO ARE CHOWDERS REAAL PARENTS?? dun dun dun!! We'll find out in next weeks episode!
Does Flapjack even have parents? They’re probably dead or in jail.
