Newcastle United Football Club is an English professional football club based in Newcastle upon Tyne, that plays in the Premier League which is the top-flight of English football. The club was founded in 1892 by the merger of Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End. The team plays its home matches at St. James' Park. All Premier League clubs have an all-seater stadium, the ground was adjusted in the mid-1990s and currently has a capacity of 52,305.
The club has been a member of the Premier League for all but three years of the competition's history, spending 88 seasons in the top-flight as of July 2020, and have never dropped below English football's second tier since joining the Football League in 1893. Newcastle have won 4 League titles, 6 FA Cups and a Charity Shield, as well as the 1969 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup and the 2006 UEFA Intertoto Cup, the ninth highest total of trophies won by an English club. The club's most successful period was between 1904 and 1910, when they won an FA Cup and three of their League titles. Newcastle were relegated in 2009, and again in the 2016 season. The club won promotion at the first time of asking each time, returning to the Premier League, as Championship winners, in 2010 and 2017.
As of the 2019-20 season, Newcastle United have spent 88 seasons in the top-flight. They are eighth in the all-time Premier League table and have the ninth-highest total of major honours won by an English club with 11 wins. The club's top goal scorer is Alan Shearer, who scored 206 goals in all competitions between 1996 and 2006. Andy Cole holds the record for the most goals scored in a season: 41 in the 1993-94 season in the Premier League. Shay Given is the most capped international for the club, with 134 appearances for Republic of Ireland. Alan Shearer returned for one more season in the 2005-06 season. This last season saw him break Jackie Milburn's 49-year-old record of 200 goals for Newcastle United when he netted his 201st strike in a home Premier League fixture against Portsmouth on 4 February 2006, becoming the club's highest-ever league and cup competition goal scorer with 201 goals altogether. On 17 April 2006, Shearer suffered a tear to the medial collateral ligament in his left knee after a collision during a 4-1 win at Sunderland in which he scored his 206th and final goal in what was his 395th appearance for the club.
St James' Park is a football stadium in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. It is the home of Premier League club Newcastle United F.C. With a seating capacity of 52,305 seats, it is the eighth largest football stadium in England. St James' Park has been the home ground of Newcastle United since 1892 and has been used for football since 1880. Throughout its history, the desire for expansion has caused conflict with local residents and the local council. This has led to proposals to move at least twice in the late 1960s, and a controversial 1995 proposed move to nearby Leazes Park. Reluctance to move has led to the distinctive lop-sided appearance of the present-day stadium's asymmetrical stands. Besides club football, St James' Park has also been used for international football, at the 2012 Olympics, for the rugby league Magic Weekend, rugby union World Cup, Premiership and England Test matches, charity football events, rock concerts, and as a set for film and reality television.
Great show - lots to talk about
Enjoyed this 👍 Pennman speaks the truth 👍
Some great comments in the comments
Well said Stew. Couldn't put it any better. We are a decent first xi but a short blanket of quality squad cover. Psr or not, we can at the very least loan to buy a right winger. Heads in the sand is not a reasonable option. Great show gents
Good evening Lads ,please cheer me up because iam sick of seeing every other team strengthening ,can we have some kind of answers from the club as what's going on ,,,Before they release another football strip
i think we underestimate the power of not losing players.... but yeah we could really do with a RW !! or two... at least the summer should be good as we will be in a strong financial spot.
For paywalls, you need a 12ft ladder... ;-)
It's Friday at 2000 and Miggys still a Toon player
I don’t see how anyone can criticise the club for not buying when they just Don’t Know what the clubs finances are like
Stew, you out of all should know, we could lose millions in any commercial deals we do now, when we know that there are going to be stadium improvements or a new build, which would have a higher value. Imagine if we signed a sponsorship deal for our training ground, yet it now been announced that we are going to build a brand new 1?
I don't hear any sponsorship deals for the ladies...why not?
This is why I suggested that certain bonus related criteria could be written into any deal, just my thoughts 🤷🏻♂️
Miggy wouldn’t have started if Murphy got injured anyway. It’s not much risk. Gordon can play there or even Tino if required. I’m pleased miggy is Happy again the abuse was becoming toxic.
Apparently adding a comment to the video is good for the algorythm.....
It's obvious the cartel are watching us like a hawk and any player we show an interest in their gazumping us if they can it absolutely stinks when are pif gonna do something about this!??🤬
I think we got bullied by Bournemouth. I’m not sure Fulham can do the same. 3-1
Whatever happened to you lads saying These people are winners, they don’t accept second best etc etc etc
The owners are winners, this thought has never wavered and is always championed. I’m of the opinion that those employee in executive roles could do better.
Surely though stew those employed in these executive roles are only doing their masters bidding
I see it differently Terry, just my opinion. I suspect they have doubts, hence the more hands on appointment of Jacobi Solis. Of course, I may be way of the mark 🤷
Well stew I suspect that if these people are as ruthless as you say and won’t take second best then? One thing I think is for sure is that they didn’t and couldn’t foresee the financial constraints that have been put on the club.Maybe would of had second thoughts,Who knows
Start getting to the point what is the point. We can't sign anyone... Is this psr crap . Yet some clubs just loose and still somehow sign players
This show is still going and still not growing 🤣Absolute cesspit
