- Hello and welcome to The Everything is Black and White Podcast.
It's time for The Match Preview. Gibbo is joined by Sam Mulliner this week.
Newcastle may have made it to the Carabao Cup Final but there's no time to rest with Birmingham next up in the FA Cup.

Great listen guys, we are a team full of confidence and we just don't feel like we can be beaten at min. But we obviously haven't played a team like you lot this season. Can't really see us winning this and just hope we give you a good game. But don't take us lightly, this is honestly the best football and best team I have ever seen apart from our prem years obviously in my 40 odd years supporting them, take us lightly at your peril 👍 proper club Newcastle though, wish you well this season apart from Sat 😅 KRO
Don't get too rocky, b'ham can play .
I think you are underestimating Birmingham a little bit. They are no mugs!
I think you're right. A TEAM playing well could very likely beat our, likely, disjointed 2nd string. There's very little point comparing man-for-man as Gibbo likes to. Football (like most team sports) doesn't work like that.
Nah fans maybe but Eddie Howe and the players won’t underestimate any team in fairness,
No Birmingham coverage. So I suspect that you are underestimating them.
Yeah I’m a blues fan was hoping to see how Newcastle fans view our team but there was none of that they will likely win but can see an upset
Great job, Sam 🙌
Gibbo - i can't believe how improved we are compared with the last cup final starting team. Fingers crossed we have no injuries
Last MAJOR honours in 69, we have won the championship 3 times & 4 minor cups- we can beat what's in front of us & get things over the line & that was before Eddie Howe drilled into these an attitude & an intensity HWTL
Great coverage 👏
It’s a shame Sam can’t host these shows going forward. Get rid of the aging Gibbo and it’ll actually be a decent show….
Really enjoy this massively underrated pod and excellent work Sam, filling in for Andrew. EIBW is much more balanced than TF (which I like) and other slightly more rabid and over reactive fan pods. My only complaint (and maybe I'm alone), is that all of the previews feature Gibbo and I'm increasingly finding his out of touch rambling, hyperbole and stating the obvious while also missing the point, to be off-putting. Just like a footballer's career, maybe he should take a bow and hop in a helicopter come the end of the season. He's been a great servant ... blah blah ...
Ridiculous statements.
@stuartg380 Which ones?
So long as we give a good account of ourselves - and hopefully score a goal! - I'll be happy.
To give you some insight into what you might have missed, we like possession, and play a high press. Defence has been decent and we try to play with a bit of width. Players to watch will be Stansfield, Anderson and Iwata from distance. Our midfield will fight, and our defence has improved since November - only conceding a few goals in all competitions.
With your quality, you should be able to absorb any pressure, and your best approach might actually be to draw us out and hit us on the break, as we've been undone by pace and balls over the top in the past.
Sadly, we have injuries to our number 10, Willumson, and the other half of our midfield, Korean international Paik.
Good luck on Saturday, and I think it will be a good atmosphere!
