Miggy was arguably the best player on the pitch last night.... it's not just Miggy's fault they played so sluggishly and without intensity. Story of the season so far (City game aside).... Intensity is most certainly not our identity so far. Chelsea, Villa, Spurs are all challengers for that coveted 4th spot this season.....

Tonali was good - but it was Howe working on the training pitch to close the gaps between defence and midfield that was the important feature against Citeh. Burn was moving to close that gap and push the defensive line further up the pitch so we couldn’t be played through as we have been before that game. Yes, it leaves us open behind as we lack pace but combined with a higher press and closer lines, we had an actual plan to rectify the woeful performances prior.

For me, the biggest goosebumps moment will always be Jonas Gutierrez's goal vs West Ham in 2015. Coming back from cancer, last game for us. The emotions, the occation. That last memory of him in black and white at St. James' Park. Brings a tear to my eye each time I think about it.

What a performance from the team today. We could have had all three points and some would say, it would be deserved. It’s not often that teams say that against City. I think your assessment of Joelinton is a bit unfair. The few times he was dispossessed with the ball, it was obvious that he never received a shout from his teammates or the crowd. He was massive today and was everywhere. Let’s hope to carry this performance into the next one.

I am concerned with our shape. We keep these defensive lines even when there is no one to mark. Last season DeBruner stood 5 metres in front of our defence line and no one stepped forward to stop him recieving the ball. Watch their last goal. Keeping rigid defensive lines allows the opposition to overload our flank and we keep players marking empty space.
