I mean I didn't dislike that movie but I watched it when I was like in HS. I watched the trailer for it again and yeah didn't seem that great in hindsight, The issue is he built his audience on a specific demographic which is black American women. Of course some action thriller wasn't going to appeal to them. Also the acting in the movie was kind of cheesy and cliché. When you are making movies where you characters are mostly stereotypes then you can get away with cliché.

Some women unfortunately make this mistake with these types of men in every generation. So these movies need to continue being made because sadly the newer generations ie our own daughters, keep repeating the same old family pattern no matter how hard we try to teach them from our own mistakes. And not only black women watch his movies, that’s not a fair criticism of his films.
It's the same cycle in our community; whether you like it or not, we thrive off dysfunction.

This movie was actually good it just showed how being raised by a toxic parent who never healed can pass it down to their children and it’s so true this is why it’s so important to heal before you marry and or have any children break the cycle.

People really think Tyler is bothered by the hate comments they may be similar plots but they show how the woman stands her ground later on and gets the strength to make a change I can’t hate Tyler for his films my family and I always enjoyed his movies he’s given so much respect and recognition to so many under appreciated black actors and actresses I see nothing negative about his messages in his films everyone has their own opinions

I don't think you understand how detrimental to the black community what you are suggesting really is. You have 2-3 Generations of black women who have been watching these movies fore decades at this point. I get wanting to highlight domestic violence but after the tenth straight movie on it you are no longer highlighting, you are programming and teaching generations of women to not trust men and to not want to get married.
